How to assign a sweeper to a track?

RadioDJ allows you to assign an overlay track (called sweeper in RadioDJ) to a music track. The file will be played over the intro of the target track.

First, make sure that the music file has an intro and you imported some sweeper files in Sweepers category.

In search window right click and select Edit Track (or double click in Track Editor), and the Track Editor will pop up. Select Sweepers tab and add the desired sweepers to the music track and click save button.

Note: Music files with assigned sweepers will play only the assigned sweepers!

Track Types in RadioDJ

RadioDJ has some predefined track types:

1. Music
2. Jingle
3. Sweeper
4. Voiceover
5. Commercial
6. Internet Stream
7. Other
8. Variable Duration File

For some of these types, RadioDJ will take some custom actions, so it’s not a good idea to play with them until we know what they represent.

The first type, named music must be assigned to music track that we expect to be played using rotations. To this types are applied a set of rules like checking when the artist was played, when the track was played etc.

Sweeper and Voiceover type is for tracks that will be played on top of music type files (overlay).

Internet Stream represent files that are not psychically present on our hard-drive. They must be streamed from a server (web, shoutcast, icecast, etc).

Variable Duration File type must be assigned to files which will change its duration in time, for example a news file which will be overwritten often. This allows you to import the file once and then to just overwrite the file to keep it updated.
On this type, the file will be scanned every time before playing, to get its new duration.

How to setup a top of the hour (TOH) jingle?

Click “Events” and choose “New Event” and it will appear the Event window.

  1. Enter the event name and select “Recurring by Day and Hour” event type. On event time enter “12:00:00″ (Note that on this type of event the hour is ignored, so you can enter any hour instead “12″. Only minutes and second are important here.)
  2. To the bottom of the window are located the actions assigned to this event. Click the plus “+” sign to see the available actions. In the first tab select “Load Track (top)” and a new window will appear. Select the desired track/jingle, click the “Add Selected File” button and then “Add Action” button. The actions window will close.
  3. Now add another action using the same plus “+” button and select “Start Playing” action.
  4. Click “Add Event” button in the event window.

From now, on every hour at 00 minute and 00 seconds the jingle will be added on top of the playlist and played.
