Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can i really use RadioDJ freely, even if I’m running a commercial station?
A: Yes, you can use our software even on your commercial radio station without any restriction.

Q: What does AutoDJ function in RadioDJ?
A: If you setup a rotation and enable AutoDJ, RadioDJ will generate the playlist based on your rotation rules, so you don’t have to worry about making playlists all the time.

Q: What is the difference between Automated and Assisted?
A: When in Automated mode, RadioDJ will play all the files from the playlist. In Assisted mode, after each file, the player will stop. This can be useful when doing live shows.

Q: Windows 64 bit is supported by RadioDJ?
A: RadioDJ is a compiled as a native 32bit application, but many users are using it successfully on windows XP/Vista/Seven 64bit.

Q: Can i run multiple instances of RadioDJ?
A: Sure, but it may be a good idea to have them in different directories and to use separate databases.

Q: In the screen-shots i see a different version than mine. Why is that?
A: Until tagging a version as stable, we release new versions for testers, so yes there are newer versions around than the one you see in the download page.

Q: From where can i get the latest release?
A: We publish latest versions on the forum. Please remember that the attachments are not visible for unregistered users.

Q: Why RadioDJ is using MySQL database?
A: It’s more like a personal choice that will allow us to make a (php) web interface for requests, stats, reports etc in the near future.

Q: Shoutcast/Icecast streaming will be available in RadioDJ?
A: [UPDATED] No. However, you can use third-party encoders to stream to your shoutcast/icecast server.

Q: Why i cannot use .pls or .m3u playlist’s generated by other players?
A: Please keep in mind that RadioDJ is database driven software. It’s not like it’s difficult to implement this, but in our opinion a radio station’s automation software must be (and stay) very well organized, and the freedom to import files using playlists could result in tracks imported in incorrect categories, which could lead to undesirable results.
