How Do You afford?

DJ Garybaldy

I'm wondering how most people find ways to finance their online stations

There are a couple of things holding me back from streaming right now

  • I can't afford a licence to stream
  • I can't afford the electric to have a computer on 24/7
  • I can't afford a cloud solution.
So how do most of you afford to finance your stations (If its not too much of a personal question)

Hi Garybaldy, a friend of mine runs 3 channels on Laut fm, he doesn't pay a cent the platform covers the music rights.
You should find out if this is also the case in England, as it is outside of Europe.
On facebook search: Editori Web Radio Italiane, they will give you all the updates on Laut fm.

Sadly Not on facebook I came off that site over 2 years ago  >:D

As for the the UK not being in Europe anymore that's a touchy subject... I voted Remain but 17.3 million selfish people wanted out.

The abuse I got on Twitter when I said I was a Remainer was awful spent a lot of time Blocking people around the time of the referendum

Its sad this country is being ruled by MORONS

I'll look Laut.fm up

EdiT: I can't see a way to sign up to Laut.fm so that ones out

Yes I've tried ZenoFm but that requires my PC to be on streaming 24/7 and as I've already said I can't afford to have a computer running 24/7 the AutoDJ space on Zeno is nowhere near enough.

Electric costs are sky High in the UK compared to else where I'm barely scraping through as it is.

I cant afford an AutoDJ server either so.... I just wish I could stream but as it stands I can't because the costs are to prohibitive.

its why I was asking how people afford their stations not advice on other services.

Hi, first of all did you find out if Zeno and Laut Fm pay royalties in England? If so, I recommend
Laut Fm where you can broadcast with RadioDj for as long as you want. When you want you can use (activate) their control panel, switch off your RadioDj and continue on air 24 hours a day.
Be aware that when you activate on Laut Fm you do not own the radio channel.

DJ Garybaldy

I don't think Zeno cover the royalties... as for Laut.fm its probably a no go for me there's very little Info on what they cover.

Even though i personally don't do that but have you considerd the option to use a laptop? RadioDJ 1.8.2 isn't that processor hungry and most laptops only use  around 60 watts of power. That way you could keep a 24/7 stream running. Now for the royalties, in Holland it's 80 euro's a month for 200 slots. Another way you could think of is setting up your own server. The downside is that anyone who want to listen, connects up to your IP and if your upload isn't that high you run into problems with only 10 listeners in a worst case.

Now for the costs, i am paying up to 120 euro total each month for stream, musicrights and other costs. There are no commercials on my station because that is going to cost me more than i would love to. The music rights going up very fast when i play commercials on my station. So the only income is from the station i work for. For me this i can handle but when i loose my job, that will be the end for my station.

Hi there,

I see your topic is somewhat older, but if you don't have a solution yet, you can check with streemlion from canada, i let them host my streams, and they have license cover as wel. Your station will then be 'located' in canada for the licensing stuff, they have more plans you can check for it.

I have the full pack, that is three streams of 4x10.000 listeners each, with an auto dj (wich i don't use that much, cause i have a server running at home, with 3 instances of radiodj). I pay about 40 euro a month for it, maybe space will be not enough but they have the service of adding gb's for a reasonable price.

Most of electricity costs will come from your monitor and that thing doesn't have to be on when the computer is doing it's work. I have an extra computer on for it, and i hardly notice any changes on my electricity costs, maybe about 5 euro a 10 a month. So in total you will come then with the full pack about 50 euro and i believe they now give a discount on the first year.

you can check out my station here ccmixers.world and you can find them by googling streemlion from canada. I don't know if i am allowed to write this all but i'm quite new on this forum, so if it is not right what i'm doing please tell me and i will delete this message.
