Reason I've Stopped Streaming

I've had to shut my personal home radio station down.

Sadly its because Electric Prices in the UK have shot up.

The standing charge on the electric meter goes up from 27p a day to 42p a day on the 1st of April &  the cost of units of electric are scandalous right now.

I would use a VPS to run RadioDJ on IF I could afford to do so but all my spare money has been swallowed up by energy & increased FOOD costs. Money is really tight right now.

There is a big money inflation.
Everything is unexpectedly more expensive

The Energy Companies in the UK make extortionate amounts in Profits while ramping up every ones Gas and Electric prices


They reckon I've used £90.70 of energy since 5th February that's DOUBLE what I paid this time last year so you see what I mean by scandalous

So Today Electricity prices have just trebled in the UK

I'm dreading what my next bill is likely to be. I may not be on the computer as often I have to try and curb my electric usage.

Between feb 2021 and feb 2022 my energy BILL had doubled now its more expensive than that.

I can't run RadioDJ like I used to which makes me SAD

Electricity Prices in the UK are abhorrent right now

My energy bill in March was £60 I just received my usage for April & it is somewhat EYE watering.

My Bill this month £117

So you can see why I cannot afford to run a stream

Well we learned that Electricity prices are about to go up 80% in the UK (nearly £3000 a Year) I don't know where I'm going to find the extra money to heat and light my flat

I can't afford to run my computer constantly day after day I will check on my phone and if I see a reason to log on I will but i won't be about as much

I'm not even able to play my music like I used to that's a luxury its just a sad state of affairs right now.

You forgot about Covid. It's all rolled in together to cause mass panic and fear. That's why many are rising up, and many more need to. Farmers are targets too. Here in NZ, if you consider the traditional family unit (Mum, Dad and kids) as normal, you're considered a right-wing extremist. Heck, you can't even stand for local government without the national local govt body wanting to expose people who see things differently from the current narrative.

Basically, here in the US the same type of things has occurred. I noticed that my power bill increased by about $300 last month, and when I checked what had been running I noticed no differences in what I had been running. I run my several different radio stations on low powered laptops, with my icecast server being ran by a poweredge 1950. Just running the A/C during the past few months has shot my bill up nearly 300%. Power companies are genuinely the scum of the planet, but it's the same thing in most industries. For example, the petrol (gas) companies make billions each year but they are constantly pushing the gas prices as high as they can possibly make them. Like, for instance, "oh an oil rig in the gulf of mexico exploded? even though that oil rig supplied like 0.03% of the petrol to our company, let's increase the gas prices by $1 a gallon" I think it's genuine fool behavior. It's the same bullcrap with the power companies, "oh it's hotter than hell outside, let's up the prices on power by $10 per kW/h even though we already make enough money to pay all of our employees twice over"

Companies are constantly looking for ways to make yet even more profit even though they already make f**k tons of money as it is, they will eventually realize there's only so much bulls**t they can do to cheap out until they either go out of business due to a lack of customers or they cause a massive mistake, resulting in government intervention.

I've only used electricity this past 2 months No gas for heating. My latest bill was eye watering compared to this period 3 years ago.

How I'm going to be able to afford to heat this place this coming winter is indeed another matter.

The Price goes up again at the end of this month in the UK they're squeezing most of my income on energy It should be illegal to charge over the odds,.

Here in France, electricity prices have increased, but not that much
not to the point of having to turn off a computer for example

we are protected by the state and debt financing of our electricity
it is in some way postponing the payment until later, or even much later (next generations)
this is how politics works here, it is very short term, the time of the next elections, and the same thing the next time

in France, our electricity is not expensive at all in the short term, due to nuclear power (we pay later when we have to close the nuclear power plants and process the waste)

but we are forced to buy it more expensively because of the EU and the establishment of the ARENH system, which indexes the price of electricity to that of electrocarbons, while our energy is not produced neither by gas, nor by oil nor by coal
