It doesn't give a lot of control. You can get a Behringer podcast setup for a reasonable price

I'd be careful buying anything off AliExpress cheap and nasty is the phrase that springs to mind

There are probably better systems on other DJ stores
AMD A8-9600
8GB RAM
Windows 10/11
RadioDJ 2045
MariaDB 11.2

I am planning to use a Behringer XR18 Digital Mixer, it has 18 inputs, 6 Aux outputs and a 18 x 18 usb audio interface, it also has midi for other control options, from what I have been reading over the past 6 months the only benefit of a "broadcast mixer" seems to be serial port control of Mic Live or on air automatic switching. I understand that they will also auto switch between Mic Live and studio monitors... but apart from these minor inconveniences which can be over come, I cannot see the benefit of a "Broadcast Mixer" over a digital mixer for a smaller station.

One obvious benefit that is apparent with a digital mixer controlled by software is no scratchy analog sliders. Also the input/output stays digital from start to finish unless you have a digital broadcast mixer costing serious money. I think staying digital is the way to go personally..IMHO.

There are quite a few headless digital mixers out there now and a few to be had on eBay and other reseller sites.

Note: I would buy one with a big USB audio interface like the XR18 Which supports 18 in and 18 out channels. The XR16 and 12 only have a 2 channel USB audio interface. Other well known headless digital mixers have similar abilities.

The XR18 even has the ability to record your shows in stereo direct to USB Stick from the front port. Or record multies to a Daw to be edited at another time.

A lot of headless mixers can be had at a bargain price if you look at the second hand market often enough. Most between £250-650. Which is a bargain when you look at the price of " Broadcast mixers"

I purchased mine new a few years back but as its headless and looked afer its still in the same condition as new..just about.  Try using a analog mixer for a band for a few years and look at its condition then  :'(
...then consider using it for a radio station. I have much experience of analog mixers failing but your mileage may differ. Depends also if you are an active heavy user or occasional one.

I plan to play my tracks into the USB interface then adjust the sound etc to what I require and send it back to an encoder via USB, all jingles and station sound files will go the same way. The only analog signal will be from the XLR studio mics which in turn will go back out of the mixer via USB interface.

I'm not a radio expert whatsoever but I have many years as a sound engineer under my belt, so what I plan to do is only based on my experience of kit I have personally used over the years.

I absolutely respect any other person who runs a station on other gear different from my suggestions.

Hope my plans help you in whatever direction you want to go. Cheers.
