Streaming setup?

Hi.  I've just set up RadioDJ and imported songs and set up AutoDJ which is all working fine.

I want to stream now but I cannot work out what to do!  I have installed the stream encoder plugin and it appears in the plugins box, but if I click it and click settings nothing comes up.

Is this plugin stand-alone or do I need to load something else from Shoutcast?  It looks like Shoutcast has been taken over by Radionomy, do I want to steer clear of that?  What am I doing wrong!!  The last time I set up a stream was with Winamp and Shoutcast about 15 years ago and it all went smoothly ...

You need to right click in the encoder window to setup an encoder.

Don't forget the (lame)  MP3 encoder, otherwise you have some kind of interface but no encoder that can transcode audio to mp3.

Ahh yes I forget he will ned a folder called encoders inside the plugins folder with lame_enc.dll & lame.exe to stream in mp3.

OK, have copied the lame files into a new encoder directory.  I've right clicked the RadioDJ Streamer window and chosen New Encoder, but the dropdown box for Encoder Details only includes "No Available Encoders!"  If I fill in the rest (I assume I need my IP address as the Server IP) and choose Save Encoder I then get an "Unhandled exception has occurred" error.

The folder needs to be called "encoders" otherwise the plugin won't see the encoders you might have to restart RadioDJ in order for the program to see the files.

Thanks for this reply and for the file too but I think the problem was that I put the Encoders directory in the RadioDJ root instead of the plugins directory.  I've moved it now and it found them.  Have set the encoder up and I think it's working now, but I've gone to http://my IP address:8000 on another browser and I can't see anything, so how can I find the stream?

Is the shoutcast/icecast server port allowed in Windows/Router Firewall? If it's not working with http://127.0.0.1:8000 try http://localhost:8000

That must be it, I've tried to open port 8000 on Windows Firewall but doesn't seem to be working (using Windows 7)

If you want to access your server from outside via your external IP you will need to allow the port(s) through your router firewall as well.

I must admit this is the area which is really lacking any sort of documentation.

We have RadioDJ (2.0.4.3) running on a pc to "send" it.
We have created a Caster.fm station to "receive" it.

But there seems to be no documentation that explains in step by step details how to connect the two. Or if there is, it's not obvious where to find it.

What I've learnt is that I actually need TWO pieces of software inbetween:

1) A stand-alone encoder (SE Caster / MB Recaster / BUTT)
2) A casting service (Icecast / Shoutcast)

So the full workflow is RadioDJ -->  Encoder (any from 1 above) -->  Casting service (any from 2 above) --> Station Hosting (such as Caster.fm)

I've not found anywhere in the docs that actually spells this out.
