Advice wanted: Setup for going through studio desk for FM & Stream casting

We are setting up our studio for both Live and Pre-recorded broadcasting.
Wanting the best setup to avoid latency and still have output from radio desk go to both FM transmitter and Stream cast.

I think the best option is to use a standalone caster rather than using the A...cast plugin - but hoping for confirmation of that.

Here's my current setup:
Single PC running RadioDJ (no live interaction/input)
Two sound cards
A...cast plugin succesfully streaming to http://radiokps.nz
Direct sound card output to FM transmitter input.

Here's the changes we're making:
RadioDJ "program" output going to a channel on (1990s Radio Systems analogue RS6) Studio Desk
RadioDJ "carts" also fed to another channel via second sound card output
Studio desk has all the other channels for mics, phone, etc
expecting to have final main station output coming from the Studio Desk

What next?

  • Can I send that studio desk output back to the same PC as a feed for a standalone stream cast? (I would need to find/install that, but think DJ Garybaldy or someone has put up a post somewhere about how to do that part?)
  • Can I in-fact send it directly back to the A...cast plugin? (that would make life easy)
  • Or must I have a separate PC to take the audio feed for streaming?

(My assumption is that using the 'input' button within RadioDJ is not really my best option as there will be latency and not as precise volume control as can be done from the desk.

It's a bit of a wordy post, but hopefully someone with some experience in this matter may be able to advise.

Ahha,  my answer actually resided in a sticky post - should have noticed that better.

... As a note, if an external mixer is used, you will need to change your encoder to use the sound card LINE IN as a source. For this can be used also the A******t STANDALONE.

Will look into that (though the link may need to be http://www.A******t.com/index.php/downloads/)

Rob,

The setup you want is about the same as we have right now (different hadware though... )

I STRONGLY advise to use a different PC or hardware to set up the stream and soundprocessing. More secure, if something happens you can switch immediately, maintenance is easier plannable etc. Also its better for priority settings of different soft.

Advising not to use Windows 10, but 7.  This has to do with updates from MS who take over the PC and are not blockable.

If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.... glad to help!

You can look for BUTT to. Has coders included.

Cheers,
Will look into it. Assuming that it works well if we are also using our own computer as the SHOUTcast DNAS. (what we currently do with the A-cast plugin.
