Title: RadioDJ v1.6.5.7 Released!
Post by: Marius on February 20, 2014, 07:47:15 PM
What's New?
- This release aims to fix some reported bugs, so no new features are implemented.

HOW TO UPDATE FROM THE LAST VERSION?

METHOD 1

1. Replace all your plugins (.dll files) with the new ones
2. Replace RadioDJ.exe with the new one
3. Replace PluginInterface.dll with the new one

METHOD 2

1. Unzip the new version somewhere on your HDD
2. Delete from the new package the settings files (they are named like settings_XXXXX.xml).
3. Copy all files from the new package over your old files in order to overwrite them.

ALTERNATE METHOD 3

1. Replace all the files with the new ones
2. Customize the settings for the program/plugins

NOTE: If already using the latest beta, there is no need to update to this version!

Marius have you fixed the issues with playlist builder in the release?

how about playlist builder with this version? fixed?

Load playlist from rotation hasn't been fixed, but I believe Marius is aware of the problem.   Load from rotation just loads jingles and no music.

Installed and using on the studio pc. Goodbye Double play! (Fingers crossed)  ;D

I use the voicetracking feature reguarly and I read about another user's issues with this function in this version, and just wanted to report that at the moment my voice tracks are loading as they should. I will report if i notice any problems though.

Thanks again Marius

If the error doesn't appear in windows logs, there are some chances that it wasn't an internal error.
What antivirus program do you use?

Hello !
I haven't tried this version, but it seems to work fine so in near future i will. But I've got one question. Is there a difference between file types, like music and commercial? Because that`s really important if i want those commercial files play little bit often than music files? So what I mean, is RDJ ignoring file and artist separation for commercial type files?

Anyone have problems whith over intro voiceover?
I cannot use voiceover longer than song intro. So i cannot use voiceovers that start playing over the final of previous song and end over the intro of the second song :( :(

Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.6.5.7 Released!
Post by: vincent on February 26, 2014, 07:04:12 PM
It seems there is a bug in the playlist builder with "file by date" tracks  :
-build a playlist containing a "file by date" track
-save it
-exit playlist builder and reopen it
-try to load your playlist : it stops displaying when the first "file by date" track is reached, so if your playlist starts with a "file by date" track, it is empty
-but if you check in mysql database, the playlist is properly saved

I think it is a display problem and I suppose we can encounter the same issue with "newest from folder" track type too (I did not test this case). Can somebody confirm this bug ?

Thanks

When I open a playlist from a rotation I get a mix of songs and jingles as expected, not just jingles as others have reported.
The only thing I often notice is that it doesn't always calculate accurately the total play time. i.e. if you request 57 mins to take account of news etc, sometimes it generates 53 mins or 55 and sometimes it's within a second or two of being spot on. Also, if you don't have enough tracks etc, I noticed on the older versions that it can generate a run of jingles at the end, seemingly to try to get the time accurate but since increasing the rotation pattern to allow more flexibility, this doesn't seem to happen much now if at all.
Using latest (1.6.5.7) on WinXP Pro 32bit and My SQL Server 5.1

Just gone to change the station name & slogan in 1.6.5.7 and as soon as i click close this .NET error pops up.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

I have trouble with the cart players after de update..
When i click a button you can hear the beginning of the sound for 0,1s and then nothing.....

Same here on 1657 with external soundcard (USB). With internal soundcard everything is OK...... This only happens when I let the carts use another soundcard as main playlist.

Hi Marius and supporters,

I had a problem with RadioDJ with events not working after midnight. It has been resolved.

The machine had 1GB of RAM and when I went to upgrade it to 4GB, it stopped dead. The motherboard failed - dead.
I upgraded it to an Intel I3 with 4GB and the operating system (was XP Pro) up to Win7.

It hasn't missed a beat since. Perfect. Beautiful !!

So, while I can't say that the extra RAM is the remedy, I can say that it appears so far (1 week later) to now be performing perfectly with 4GB, Win7 and an I3 CPU.
The station is now updating =everything= to that combination.

Regards,
Chris

Small bug in Playlist Builder.

When I double click or drag a file in the search pane to add it to the playlist, the playlist view goes to the very top of the list.

The playlist in the main window (In LIST mode) works perfectly. It only seems to be the playlist Builder that does this.

Regards,
Chris

Hello guys ! Just tested RDJ latest version and I've got some bad news. For me it's still ignoring artist separation for music files. Well it's not only with music files also with jingles.
My artist separation is 180 min, and track 360 min. Here are the pictures so you can see the time it played those files. I'm starting to think that there is some kind of problem in my setup, because nobody is complaining about this problem anymore. If You got some idea what to do, let me know ;) Thanks !

It might be just as simple as your separators (The DASH) aren't the same as in  Blockhead - Creaps Crouchin  and Blockhead-Creaps Crouchin.  Worth a try to have them all the same maybe.

Cheers

I spoke too soon !

RadioDJ ran perfectly for a week and a day after the upgrade and just as I'd let my guard down, it failed to action events after midnight again. Two nights in a row in fact.
I'm back to having to stay up until midnight every night to give it a poke (click on events bar and then close it again).

I'd just about caught up on my sleep too :(

Sorry folks, the bug is still there.

Regards,
Chris

nop mate, that's not the problem :(

Maybe the problem is that i have my database on server powered by linux ? Also I can't get reports from the beginning I started to use RDJ. For now my only idea why it's like that is because database is on another system. maybe Marius have some Ideas ?

This ver 1.6.5.7 seems to have run well for about a month and now i am seeing this issue, i thought it was related to eastern time change but now i see some one else with the same issue..

I run about 8 events during the day , each every is a pre recorded show and i am no loosing them, unless i click on the events bar then they re- appear and play for the rest of that day, and ten dissapearing after midnight.....

I wonder if it's something external causing your problems? This is because I've had RadioDJ 1.6.5.7 running faultlessly 24/7 automated with events for weeks and weeks. I'm using the MySQL Essentials 5.1.69 Win32 running on Windows XP Professional SP3.

Krid.

Same here!

Hi Marius,

It should be starting to warm up there now as we cool down here in Oz. :)

Okay, a bug and a question :)

Bug: When the setting for 'Reduce Priority By' and number - the setting is lost when the program is restarted.
Editing the Settings_general.xml file fixes this but the setting shouldn't be lost when set in Options ? should it ?

Question: In Settings_General.xml there is a setting 'RightZonesDivider'. Does this have a use? Does it set the centreline position ? (It doesn't seem to do anything on my machines). Can a setting be made that does set the centreline (vertical line that is) ?

I'm still having problems sometimes with events after midnight (unpredictable) but otherwise v1.6.5.7 is running well.

Regards,
Chris

Is there a way to import the tracks with the genre? All mne went to a capella. I have 42,000 songs and doing it manually is out of the question.

Acapella should be selectable as a genre when importing. If you forgot to set it, you should be able to change a batch in Tracks Manager by filtering all the Acapella genre and change genre.

Small bug (1.6.5.7)
Event > Plugin action > Start/stop encoder.
If you start/stop encoder thru events, you need to start counting the encoders from 0, not from 1.
In the first picture is the A******t TAB with only 1 encoder.

In the second picture is the working method tot start/stop.

As you notice, you must set as argument the number 0, not 1 as shown in the first picture.

Post by: SnowHow on April 11, 2014, 10:44:56 PM
This was covered on my first post when the encoder was released:

Quote from: SnowHow on January 27, 2014, 10:07:07 PM
Update 1-27-14

Encoder window blocks config window in Separate Window mode [FIXED]

Listener peak per encoder [NEW]

UTF8 Character support added [NEW]

Start/Stop individual encoder via event [NEW]*

*Note:
Encoder list starts at 0, so if you have four encoders, the argument would be 0 for the first encoder, then 1 for the second, and 2 for the third, etc.

It's a programming thing about how arrays are indexed.....

I'm waaaaaay behind here.  Still on 1.6.4.0 BETA.  Is there a guide that will walk me through how to bring my RadioDJ up to the current version.

I tried just using the instructions for this version, but it won't launch, once the upgrade is complete.  Good thing I made a backup and tried that on my production machine. ;-)

I'm guessing that if I perform the database conversion that was required at 1.6.4.9., I should be able to go from 1.6.4.0 BETA right to 1.6.5.7.  Can anyone tell me if I'm correct in that assumption?

Thanks!

Yes the DB structure changed in 1.6.4.9. Just download 1.6.5.7 using the databasesetup.exe on the DB utils tab select the "Select Update file"  and browse to the database.sql file which is in the SQL folder inside the Setup folder. Click Open then OK and it should update the DB without any problems.

Make sure that you do a Database backup first just in case something should go wrong.

If all has gone to plan your DB should be updated.

Hi everybody ! I can observe with this version and early ones a memory leakage... My RDJ runs on a  XP SP3 PC core 2 quad and 2Gb ram. When the software is launched, it uses approx 50mb ram but , it slowly grows and now reaches about 110mb after a few weeks running. is it normal ? Thanks !

It's not uncommon for memory usage to increase over time. Mine usually hovers around 70 - 75MB, but I'm running Server 2008 64 bit on a Core2 Duo 2.13 GHz w/4 Gig ram, however 110MB does sound a bit high. Try increasing your MySQL concurrent connections setting to 300 or so. That should help memory usage somewhat.

My sql server is running on a NAS. The growing ram usage comes only by the RDJ exe file... ::)

It doesn't matter where the database is, the exe still has to work to access it regardless of location. If the database is having to work too hard to provide the needed tables, memory usage will increase on the local machine.

Does it works with Win7 too?
And you say that bigger databases should have #300 connections. How many songs you consider a Database to be bigger?
Thanks again!

It's not the number of songs you have, rather it's what the database doing -

For example, if it's running two Wordpress sites and RadioDJ on the same machine, that is a heavier load that requires more connections because it's doing more things at once. If it's running only RDJ, that is a lighter load where fewer connections are needed. Basically it depends on your specific configuration as to what the setting should be.

To keep this on topic, please post technical questions in the support forum.

Thanks!  :)

Maybe found a bug. If I set at Track Rotation play Sweeper at Intro or End, the Sweeper is played everytime at Start of track.
