Hello RadioDJs ;)
i want to present my free icecast streaming project.
If You are searching a free streaming server, for Your radio - here it is :)
I offer 2 versions: 32 / 64 slots (up to ~510 kbit/s) - every user starts with 32 slots - if more is needed, i upgrade it.
Beginner or experimental radios are very welcome.
I want to support people who doesnt have the possibility to buy expensive streaming packages from commercial streaming providers.
So lets begin.
Because consistently people register to this free service and dont use it for real, here are the rules:
- the icecast-streamlink should be used in your website respectively playlist
- the icecast-streamlink should be your mainstream - not the backup
- the stream shouldnt be offline daylong
- re-streaming of other radios is not so fine ;)
OK, the rules might sound a little bit hard, but i dont like it when i providing resources of the server that dont be used.
Hope you understand that because its work & time i have to spend, for adding & removing accounts when they are daylong offline.
Contact me via mail: mail@streamaudio.de (german language preferred - english is also possible)
More info: http://streamaudio.de (http://streamaudio.de)
And, Yes its free!
Just signed up and loving this service. Thank you so much. If you need a banner or something for my site to give you credit I can do it. Thank you again for this service.
;D
Thank You Joshua - for using the server & streaming nice music!
Will you be offering any shout-cast servers in the future? just asking...... :)
Has shoutcast a bitrate-limit function like icecast2 kh version?
If this is possible and You would prefer shoutcast ( i dont like it :) ), i would set it up.
when icecast2 is ok for You, it would be easier for me ;)

Not sure on the bite-rate limit with Shoutcast? I broadcast in 128k 64K and 32K does it not limit it to
those settings?
Just asking because I already use Shoutcast, simple transition to new servers. I will research the Icecast server I used it years ago to broadcast in ogg.
Thank you for the help......
There is not that much different between servers with bitrates. It all depends on what you need from here. I am very happy with 96k as it is right in the middle of mobile and desktop streaming. it is what all HD radio stations stream at with AAC encoders. 128k is the same as 96k AAC.
The reason of this bitrate-limit like on icecast-kh is, that every user decide which bitrate he is streaming.
There are some who need only 64 kbit/s and some want 320 kbit/s.
People who streaming with 320 takes more bandwith than those with 64 - thats not fair - in this case.
I want to limit it to 96 to get many people streamed with normal quality - its not to low or to high.
And with icecast You can stream in nearly every format (mp3 aac ogg flac wave...) - like joshua said, in aac it sounds realy good.
AAC 96kbps is HD according to my radio engineer people. That is what a majority of radio companies use. It is the perfect sweet spot of bitrates. Thank you again Streamaudio for hooking up my stream.
Is this free service able to be used in Brazil?
It's internet streaming, so yes, can by be used in Brazil.
Jh.
Like Jhonny said, yes its free everywhere ;)
Just signed up with a new station
Good job VanLan.
Stream on?
Like to here
Jh.
I have to say, that i dont want to kick of the listeners on evening (CET) - so to activate the accounts i must restart icecast.
I will do this on morning after send the mail to You. :ok:
Oke Thank you a will wait
Jh.
I see my stream has grown since I have moved over to your service. I like that it is kicking but. Now if there was a simple Javascript that could show the now playing of the server. Anyone got ideas? I have to get it to show up with the RDJ Plugin in WP.
I think i want to test it,maybe i create a new station or two new in a new web network stations >:(

Is it you want to test or you just dont know how to configure it? Trust me if you use AAC at 96k you will be running good. I love the setup, just need to get some scripts to work showing the stuff on my website but I can do that much some how. If not oh well. But so far for my connections to mobile and the like have been solid.
:D streaming now on Streamaudio.de (http://s1.streamaudio.de:8000/radio-1300) a Soul show.
Happy to test it.

Ps. Works very well.
Yep I like it too. Welcome over Johnny. It works nicely with AAC encoding. I mean mine is super clean! http://s1.streamaudio.de:8000/the-party (http://s1.streamaudio.de:8000/the-party)

Nice to hear ;D
A short while ago icecast droped the mounts at 01/Feb/2015:19:26 - i dont know why this was happend. :'(
Sorry for that, shouldnt happend.
No biggie. You got it back up. I noticed it went down a smidg. Oh well nothing is perfect. But again I want to thank you for the hosting.
Working very well
Cheers
I will give it a try both streaming with icecast and the streaming service.....might start a new station ;D
Do u give any hosting with the streaming?^or we ll have to get a paid hosting. the free got end very fast if u dont change nothing there.
You should get your own hosting. That is why it just says streaming. Wow.
Yep, its only icecast streaming.
But i dont think that the packages end realy fast. 128 listeners for free is realy good i find :P
When the freeservice is running good for a while, i could make some bigger paid packages (256 / 512).
Sent you an email but your website is all in German? so hope I filled out what you needed. :D
I will need to broadcast on port 8004 will that work? please email if any question or you didn't get my email....thanks for your service! :ok:
wgprradio@gmail.com
Hello Chaos :D
i get your mail - account is created but only with port 8000 - hope that works.
Icecast has an option for multiple ports, but i dont want to test it in live mode - hope 8000 is ok in that way.
If 8004 is hardly needed - i have to test it on another server, that need time 8)
Edit: should now work on port 8004 - hope no other mounts have problems after that change in the configfile :-*
What other ports would you offer?
I prefer only one port on one server (8000).
But if you need another and the icecast server is running stable, i can add some more.
Except port 80 / 443 or something like that ;)
Streamaudio vielen herzlichen Dank für diesen Service sind wir nach oben und klingt großartig! :D

i dont know were my post went but how do i see if i have liisteners on the stream ????? :o
You just scroll down and look at all the stations till you find yours. It's good that we are not in competition as we are all on the same page, but the streams sound nice and clean.
Personally I really could care less if people see my listeners. I think if I was in this for the money I would, but since I am not. :hihi:

Has anything changed in the settings of the server?
For the sever was restarted, the listening were visible in the coder screen.
In my local icecast32 server it shows the listerners. ( it's not the KH version)
Jh.
Downloaded and setup the KH server, and can't show it to!
Jh.
No i changed nothing on this server - only on the testserver.
I have problems with the current setup, icecast kh - where i can limit the source bitrate.
I could also take normal icecast 2.3.2 / 2.4.0 or so - but these havent the source bitrate limit.
Because if this is not, normal user could stream in higher bitrate then 96kb/s and would take resources of other user ;)
The problem is, that mount kicket without a trace, and icecast says 3 sec sourcetimeout - thats wrong!
And therefor i have 2 workarounds: higher sourcetimeout + fallback.
I know its not the best solution. Icecast kh is configured & build correctly - so this isnt it.
Hope i can give you a good streaming service at no costs - for you ;)
Edit: & i setup a new server and want to move it in the next 24 hours.
so there will be a reconnect where your and the listeners dns have to update ;)
(you dont have to do something - your dns updates automaticly - it only can take some time)
QuoteHope i can give you a good streaming service at no costs - for you
I em verry happy whit it, and works verry well.
ditto +1

Quatro+1
Thanks to everyone :-*
New Server is running, most users are right connected - but some have to wait or update their dns.
I restart the mounts, so for now there should be no reconnect for long time
ILOVEIT ;D
AND: fallbackfile was added to every stream, so if icecast kick your mount/stream - no listener will lost, and hear my fine fallback sound.
If you need your own, please send it to me in the bitrate you stream, and i intergrate it.
My stream is down and has been for awhile, do I need to do anything on my end? I have re-started the encoder but did not help?
Right, i have to delete the 8004 in the icecast config - have problems with the fallback.
Port 8000 is working good - so if you could test or use it with 8000 would be easier for me ;)
ILOVEIT TO (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/Smileys/LightB/grin.gif)
Not online, and there is a stream
Like the option to make a track if your not streaming.
Think I'm going to make one.
Jh.
Thanks. But its only a workaround, you should know.
Because Icecast kicked the mounts, he said mount is not reachable for 3 sec - thats not true!
So to hold the listeners, where icecast is kickin the mount, it plays the fallback.
Curious is, that it isnt working, now.
Or have i done something wrong? :-[
I can't broadcast on port 8000, thank you though for the service it sounded and worked great. Let me know later down the road if broadcasting on port 8004 will work.
Thanks always for the quick response..... :ok:

I really can not say that it is so.
I'm just a flea in the fur of a bear.
I am now testing Icecast 2.5 beta1 (2.4.99.1) server which allows multiple settings, but i do it local, so nothing can go wrong, only this version is not yet stable.
Until now, you doing a good job.

why do you need 8004? that does not make sense to me. You should not need a specialized port.
Quote from: joshuatree44 on February 12, 2015, 03:59:20 AM
why do you need 8004? that does not make sense to me. You should not need a specialized port.
The reason was is my station is already established on radionomy, tune in, my app host etc. I host those streams on my shoutcast server on ports 8000 and 8002. I wanted to stream on port 8004 so I could gradually switch all of my streams to his server. As you know getting tune in and radionomy to help with anything is almost impossible. And my stations app just got listed on the major carriers. Plus I didn't want to loose my current listener base. Been in this internet game since 2003 in some form or another and I love the current momentum I have just didn't want to screw that up and he agreed to help me by offering to use port 8004 and having port 8000 open to me so i could easily convert all of my streams to his server.
Hope that makes some sence....
I think you could have moved everything over. What would you do if your used another service like what I do. the IP and the like change. What would you do. I think you will have to grin and bare it. Yes it sucks and listeners dont like it but no pain no gain. I dont like having to do it myself but I have had to. TuneIn is easy to change. Also whom ever makes your app is easy to change as well. trust me friend I have had to do so many changes it is not funny.
I guess I could have moved a little quicker on changing everything but I was also testing out the stream first, I only had it for 4 days before the changes happened. Also I have only self hosted over the years because of cost to stream, not worth it on my end.
By far this is the best free service I have ever used. and if I have time I might think about the change, but for now I am good.
on a side note, sounds like you have a better re-pore with Tune-in, because any changes I have requested are still unchanged and it has been two months.
What station is yours you don't have it listed? Happy streaming!
http://tunein.com/radio/80s-90s-and-More-The-Party-s238590/ (http://tunein.com/radio/80s-90s-and-More-The-Party-s238590/) this is mine. I just click the submit an update to this station and it is done usually in 24 hrs or less. I have them all changed back to my paid streaming host which is $5 a month. it is pretty good company. They have a great track record with me. They always try to do the best they can. I have had some horrid providers but so far these guys are the best I have had.
Sure free services are crap, but that is what you get for free. I think moving to a paid service is best. if you want I can talk to my guys and see if I can swing you a deal. It is about time you get something you want or need. I dont worry to much about things. so far iTunes is where most of my listeners come from. They can be a pain to update, but so far they have been cool to me. So make the plunge and get your streams setup right.
Hey thank you for the offer who is the host company? I'd like to check em' out..

I know, i know. It doesnt run perfect :D
But I move on to make it better.
The problem with the reconnect of mountpoints is already there :'(
Even with Debian 6/7. What im testing for now, is Debian Jessie & Icecast KH.
It seems to run better, but im afraid to say that - because if then again it doesnt work... it would be a shame.
So i have to move next week again, to make your radiostation more stable.
There would be a downtime for 15-30min
Like You can see in header, i delete the package "stream128", because nobody use / need it now.
Therefor i upgrade the bitrate a little bit from 96 > 128kbit/s ;D
So if you can, please stream in higher bitrate to make my & your ears feel good :D
And thanks for the clearing@all. I try my best, but i have not so much time beneath my job.
If You have any problems, please tell me, so i can try to make it better.
The website is now also in (school-) english available - nothing special, but its better than in german for You.
http://streamaudio.de/en (http://streamaudio.de/en)
First, I think it's a very nice offer for testing, but what does it mean?
QuoteTestaccounts: These are our 2 accounts, to make shure You can test the service without registration.
Server: s1.streamaudio.de
Port: 8000
Name: testaccount1 Pass: passwort1
Name: testaccount2 Pass: passwort2
limits: 128 kbit/s | 8 listeners | 30 min
If i test it's more than 30 min.
Of course I've seen that there are not many stations that make use of it. And others do not know what is possible yet.
Nothing for the mount. It ends the listeners stream.
Its to prevent, that one person use it 24/7.
Yeah, somebody can do that, but it kicks the listeners - so its not to nice to use the teststream.
I hope that streamer want a real account, if they like it and dont occupy the teststream.
Lets see what time bring, could be more station see streamaudio, and test it :)
is there a big difference in quality between mp3 or AAC+ with an upstream of 128kb/s ?
i would say yes.
because i use studio monitor to listen music.
i hear the difference 8) - if your sourcequality is good enough :ok:
Does anyone know a web player for AAC+ ?
use now one of muses.org on my website and works for MP3 only.
this seems to work (but ive not testet yet)
http://schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager2/ (http://schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager2/)
QuoteCo-developed by Fraunhofer IIS, the HE-AAC audio codec provides the same quality audio at one-half or one-third the bit rate of other audio codecs.
From this article (http://radiomagonline.com/studio_audio/ip_audio/applied_technology_streaming_with_the_mpeg_he-aac_audio_codec_0401/)

When I use OGG or AAC audio, I get a Security Error Message. (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/Smileys/LightB/005.gif) This takes place with use of the
muses radio player .
Note from muses:
Quote
Unfortunately, playing OGG and AAC audio inside a flash requires the server to have a file named crossdomain.xml, that authorizes Muses Radio Player to access the signal.
A basic example of a crossdomain.xml file, is this:
<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="*" />
</cross-domain-policy>
Please note that this file should be placed on the STREAMING SERVER, so you'll probably need to ask your provider to place it for you.
If it is possible, thanks.

Yah musez is crap. The error is not a fault of the server I believe. It is just the stream player that does not like AAC in all theory IE shoutcast v2 for me.

Hello,
sorry for the long waitingtime - was at sports :ok:
Tomorrow i will move the server away from OVH - such a bad hostingprovider ???
Dont know what it is exactly. In the way of moving, i change also to debian8 & icecast kh - it works a little bit better.
But to be honest, also on there it doesnt work perfect. I testet it with joshuatree44 (thanks).
And also there where reconnects after some time - better than on actual system, where it kicks so often the mounts, without a trace :bash:
Im from germany. One server is located in france @OVH... --> bad host :-X
Believe me i want to make it better, but it will take time to prove it.
This is why im write Beta at my website ;)
EDIT: I moved the server away from OVH to Makonix.
Hope it runs better.
Im now in contact with Karl - the developer of icecast kh - hope he can help me with the "reconnect/drop of mounts" problem ;)
Im very shure that my icecast kh setup is right, and i tried so many different setups - the problem seems to be on site of icecast kh :-X
Lets see what karl can say about it.
Thanks for keeping us up to date.
Cheers
Darn French! I am glad I can help when I can. I think if your server is setup right then I guess there is nothing else you can do. Lets hope the new host works out for you. If not it is onto the next.
Yes, streamaudio is still alive.
Had less time last week, but service is still running. :)
Actually there are some problems at the datacenter in goteborg.
Sorry i cant do that much against those problems :o
Edit: Reason was a large DDOS Attack.
Stupid people out there :bash:
Been there done that. To many people with time on their hands I guess. Maybe they do need those jobs after all. :bash:
Small question, the crossdomain.xml is no longer present?
Or get the music you no longer played when no stream is present?
If not i have to adjust the demo.
Jh
DDoS does not do anything other than hang up bandwidth. I would not worry. I have been through a few of them.
The crossdomain.xml is allready online.
Why the mounts arent showed when they are of - i have to look at it.
Also the fallback doesnt work like it should - i see what i can do, this weekend ;)
No DDOS ;)
go for broke.
There are tons and tons of them out there. Just need to look for them. I think we have linked a few of them with Jhonny's stuff.
I try my players who need the crossdomain.xml but get an error message.
At first they worked well but when the server is installed to another, it does not work anymore.
What can be the reason of it.
Players are on LIve (http://dj-jhonny.nl/RadioDJ/live.php) page.
Sorry i dont know it.
I changed nothing on the crossdomain.xml.

What do you mean with "when the server is installed to another".
Sorry for the late response.
I mean change of host.
Oh, i used a precompiled .deb version, previous it was installed from source.
But i dont changed the config or something like that.
I could setup a testserver and install it from source - like before, so you can test it again.
But i dont think, that this is the problem ;)
Oh no, do not bother, put in others who do not need the file. 8)

Hi Streamaudio,
How are your settings for YP listing?
Feiko
FIR Radio
I doesnt activate it for now.
I think Curl isnt installed.
post it here since so many of us use the service.
Hi Streamaudio,
it's a pity that u don't do admin logins because now I can't see the IP addresses from the listeners.
I use a tool from steamcast and in this tool you can than see the geo location from your listeners and that's nice.
Grtz
Feiko
www.divparts.nl/fir
But its not that easy for me, to give every user the admin login.
Anybody could change the settings of the icecast server.
I think, nobody really wants that.
Is there another geolocation tool from github or sourceforge where i can set it up for every user?
personally I could care less where people are listening and the like. I am just glad they are. I also like that this is free and just works. Yah I understand what I could get with paid but my stream sounds awesome. Thank you for all your hard work and keeping it up and working.
But I do so it SUPER the stream and always up give the man a hoera :ok: :ok: :ok: :ok: :ok:

Hi guys, i just would like to have an autodj option for the free streaming, maybe someone can help the free streaming ervice with it. someone who understands and work with programming this kind of job. lets make the free streaming better, lets help him ;)
Don't want much do you? To program something like that is NOT easy and you want it done for free?
I think the answer might be a big fat NO!
If you really need an autodj option to run side by side with radioDJ there are plenty of paid for services out there!
Stop asking for silly random stuff!
+1 Gary. People just want to much for free. If you want certain things, create it yourself. :ok:

Hello Guys,
thanks for the suggestion.
The thing is, i dont have that much space for the audiofiles.
Centovacast has that option: http://centova.com/en/faq/general/information/how_does_the_automatic_live_autodj_switching_feature_for_icecast (http://centova.com/en/faq/general/information/how_does_the_automatic_live_autodj_switching_feature_for_icecast)
But for first i have only pure Icecast runnin - and i like it.
I dont want to be the big host with many options, i want free, easy, stable icecast streaming for many people out there.
@all streamers: keep up your good work - i like it when it streams :D
That is why I like what you have offered me. It works perfectly for what I need. I have had some of the worst and some of the best. They all have features that I use and others I dont. I think for a free service I am getting all that I need. if I am needed to kick a few bucks in then I will grab the rifle and start the hunt, ha :hihi: I think people complain about to much and a free service is just that, free. I hark back to what I said, if you dont like what you have either find better or start it yourself.

Isn't that what Radionomy is? An auto DJ or live stream host?
I mean you can upload music and schedule it to play only from those tracks uploaded or you can use the live feature
and it will play 10 seconds of your playlist and then go to your live stream.
Radionomy is a free-ish service you just need to have so many listening hours, or trigger a commercial.
That would be a way.
I can set a fallback in icecast to your radionomy-autodj-stream.
The smaller problem actualy is, the fallback wont work on my icecast-kh - it worked really well - but yesterday is saw/hear, it wont work.
And: I dont know why...
EDIT: Hello Boys & Girls.
I have found the problem in my icecast config, that doesnt let the fallback work.
I forgot to use a username tag beneath the mountpointname.
Yesterday i update it on the config - so please update the username information in your streaming client.
As it seems, sam broadcaster 4 havent this tag on the serverconnection-menu.
So please tell me when you cant connect to the server.
Sorry for the hardupdate - next time i give you more time to change a setting on your side :)
Help!
My stream has bumped with invalid password.
Please advise
EDIT: I have mount point user name as before but there is a small repeating loop going for a few hours now. Has my password changed???
Please Advise
Hello,
password is the same.
Only thing you have to add in your streamingclient (BUTT) is the username.
/mountpointname = username ;)
Thanks so much !!!
It works in BUTT and I'm streaming on my test box.
Unfortunately that doesn't work in Radiocaster but I'm at least back up.
Thanks for your quick help on this Eine and your service
Cheers
No problem.
I think i should change it step by step the next time :)
Its to much mailing for me at once.
What i dont understand is, why some streamingclients have the option for username, and many of them dont have the field username.
And when i dont set the username in icecast config, the fallback doesnt work correct...
Currious.
Hi,
Is the Server down........ I think somebody try to hack our pride.
I have the request tool running and somebody is injecting with lots and lots of info with a lot of IP addresses.
Can we shut him down by some kind of block?
TNX
Feiko
Hi,
Yes ED cast don't have a user name space what sold I do?
Yes Icecast was down, it hang up.
Restart the server and its on again.
I think ive done to much changes in Icecastconfig - Sorry.
Yes, Edcast hasnt this username-option.
If you want, please look at http://butt.sourceforge.net/ (http://butt.sourceforge.net/) its a free streaming client which have this option.
I have no access to your accessing tool, so i dont know about it.
EDIT: Sadly icecast strikes. Sometimes i hate it.
I added only the username-tag in the config - and now, nothing goes >:D
After that it hangsup. I restart the server and take the username-tag back... and nothing goes.
Sometimes some mounts come up, and some be down... :'(
Such a big sh..! I hate Icecast - why is it so unstable? :bash:
For now i change the server and set up Icecast 2.4.2-1 on debian - yes, first off no icecast-kh ;)
Domain be the same, i only change the dns.
So be shure, i dont wanna spite you - but it wont like i want it.
EDIT2: So, i moved Icecast to a new server.
It can take a time till you can login - your dns need time to update - here on my provider-dns it resolves right.
And also i made the username-fu back. So you only need your /mountpoint & password - as before.
I seems like a bug on icecast kh - because the fallback works also when no username is set @Icecast 2.4.2-1. ::)
Yes, it seems that the entire stream audio service has been down for most of the night. It's all user accounts.
Can you give us an idea as to when it'll be back online
Cheers
Jep, Icecast was completly down - it facks up.
Im now online again with Icecast 2.4.2-1.
Your DNS need time to update, so give it a small time, or change your DNS short to googles 8.8.4.4.
Than You can connect to the icecast.
Some other user allready stream with the new server.
Okay, thanks. Appreciate what you're doing for us. Things will always come up to nibble when we're not looking LOL
Cheers
Back up and running!
tnx Robert :ok: :ok: :ok:
See there are 25 stations using the stream.
My test stream works to, only I can't set the user name in the PluginStreamerV1.1 from Marius.
But it just works, thanks for the email.
Update:
Oops, forgot to say that the listeners counter now work.
Hello,
thanks first.
After i reinstall the newer Icecast, you dont have to set the username.
I saw that only a few programs has that feature - eg. BUTT.
The listeners counter should work also before the crash ;)
I hope more stations would use the service real - not only getting an account, streaming a few days, and than use another service or going offline - without giving me an infomation, to delete their old account.
Some people come to me and say, they need min. 64 slots - but dont switch to streamaudio for real :(
Well, thanks again to all the streamer & listeners - keep it going and let the server burn :D
I like when you use it
Thanks for providing this service to us.
Amazing for free
Cheers
hello streamer & listeners,
stephan from strulfm.se ask me for the status-json file.
it wasnt active till now. :D
so here it is: http://s1.streamaudio.de:8000/status-json.xsl (http://s1.streamaudio.de:8000/status-json.xsl)
thanks to stephan for the information :-*
Hi,
I activated the streaming and it sounds very good with ogg at 96kb: s1.streamaudio.de:8000/funky-corner-radio
(http://s1.streamaudio.de:8000/funky-corner-radio) but I can't see the station listed in the Vorbis streaming directory and I can't hear the sound if I embed a player on my site. What am I doing wrong?
Hello plauri,
i dont activate this till now:
<directory>
<yp-url-timeout>15</yp-url-timeout>
<yp-url>http://dir.xiph.org/cgi-bin/yp-cgi</yp-url>
</directory>
Tomorrow, in the morning i will restart icecast to activate this.
I hope my libcurl3-gnutls is working together with icecast. Its installed correct, so it should work.
Also i forget to upload the crossdomain.xml since the last new setup of icecast.
If there where any problems, please try again - the problems should be away.
What webplayer do you use?
Hi, now everything goes well. I'm using the Muses radio player the Simple Red (M), and I can see metadata too in it. Still waiting to get inserted into the Icecast directory. I have put a link to oyur site on my homepage, thanks!
I see players on the server (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/Smileys/LightB/angel.gif)
Why? (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/Smileys/LightB/huh.gif)
Or is it my browser that show's them?
Cant post here. Board block me >:D
Sorry, but forum was offline, and before it gives me a 403... :-X
So here is what i want to post: :hihi:
Haha. After editing my post 50 times... i found the problem.
If you want to write "C-U-R-L" here (without the dash), you will be blocked and get a 403 failure. ??? >:D
@plauri: Thanks for the link on your site - thats allways welcome. OGG sounds nice & with that player, it also shows the metadata/tracktitle - but only with ogg.
AAC or MP3 doesnt work with Muses right now. I doesnt try Opus - could also work :)
The icecast directory doesnt work, but i set it up like all tutorials show on the net.
C-u-r-l is installed - i have to test this next days, when the weather isnt as good as actually :P
@Johnny: No, its your Browser - the most Browser can directly play OGG via html5 player.
So everything is ok. It depends on what format the streamer uses.
EDIT: @plauri: icecast directory listing now also works. but its a totally stupid config on icecast.
and also the documentation is a hassle. when you activate the yp-listing you have to use the <listenurl> tag - which is automaticly provided by icecast.
but you have to set it manually >:D
and this broke the config on mounts which have no fallback configured... thats so stupid... :-X

Sorry, but I don't understand how I can activate the yp-listing, can you explain, please?
It is allready activated from me in the icecast config.
You dont have to do anything.
Curios is, that i cant find your stream her: http://dir.xiph.org/search?search=Funky%20Corner%20Radio (http://dir.xiph.org/search?search=Funky%20Corner%20Radio)
Other station who streams over that server i can find: http://dir.xiph.org/search?search=The+Party (http://dir.xiph.org/search?search=The+Party)
Dont understand why it sometimes work, and then not :-[
Sorry - config is ok.
EDIT: I think it is a searching bug on their website, because when you search here: http://dir.xiph.org/yp.xml (http://dir.xiph.org/yp.xml)
for "funky-corner-radio" you see your station is listed in their directory.
Anything else is in the hand of http://xiph.org (http://xiph.org)
Edit2: No plauri, i dont think that this is helpful.
You can contact the guys of xiph.org and ask them what to do, or whats the problem there is.
:-[ mmm should I change the name? It's astonishing that even if you search only for "Funky" and list all the stations, mine is not there >:D :'(
After some months of icecasts runnin realy well - i decided to change the status from beta >> to stable :ok:
Im happy with the server. But there could be more users & listeners who can served with it ;)
So again, if somebody wants to use streamaudio - give it a try, you will love it.
Radios with many listeners are also welcome.
A mainthing for me is, that users who have an account should use them.
Sometime people register, but then they dont stream :'(
Thats work for me and resources that dont used :-*
And: Yes its allready free - and will be!
Great work and love the service.
Cheers
Looks like the audio streaming is hosted in Latvia by Nano IT (https://www.nano.lv/eng/). Is that cheaper than UK, German or Dutch hosting?
I'm asking because I have worked on few projects hosted with Nano but I'm not that satisfied with prices.
@Vanlen: Thank You :)
@Valdis: How do you come to (or see) Nano IT?
The currently streamserver s1 is in göteborg, sweden.
s2 is for testing and is located in riga, latvia.
But Nano IT SIA is in another datacenter and has its own AS.
We use AS52173 where the most traffic goes through telia, l3 and hibernia.
The price is equal to germany or netherlands. And im very happy with it :ok:
PS. Nanos website looks shabby - so i wouldnt buy something there :-X
After some tests on the testsystem and ssh-login problems that i now have fixed,
i will move the server tomorow 23.02.2016 at 06:00 CET.
I hope the downtime will be as short as possible - The move will only be from goteborg to riga with a dns change.
After that the new Icecast 2.4.0-kh3 will be available to you.
And sorry for the long waiting time to give the account to you - because of the ssh problems, it was not easy to access.
But now, everything is fine.
And next info: to all users who register and dont use the account, i write them a third mail in the next days, and when they dont react i will close these account ;)
For the future users: You are very welcome if you can stream 24/7 or at least once a day - hope you understand
Edit: S1 is now in Riga with Icecast 2.4 KH3
DNS change should be done in the next hours.
If you have problems, flush your cache via windows-cmd:
CMD
ipconfig /flushdns
Now, when you
ping -6 s1.streamaudio.de or ping -4 s1.streamaudio.de
you should get
2a02:7aa0:1201:0:186:61:148:240 or 185.61.148.240
Your DNS give the right IP to your machine.
If you are on linux, you know similar command shurely :)
Thanks so much again Streamaudio.de for your service.
Much appreciated.
And thank you Vanlen for streaming good music :ok:
Thats much more to do.
I want to use this thread to keep you informed: sorry mods, sometimes a doubleposting :-X
The switch on 23.02.2016 works without any problems.
On 11.03.2016 22:25 CET there was a dropout due to fiberswitch from my isp's upstreamconnection.
And today 15:53 s1 icecast died :bash:
1 or 2 minutes after it was back online again.
Im on it - but i think it was me. Im testing a raspberry pi setup and took ogg vorbis instead of mp3, what i did before.
And some seconds after that, icecast was down >:D
I will try to test that issue on s2, to make shure not getting more drops of icecast :-*
Sorry for the problems.
None of your ping -6 s1.streamaudio.de or what ever does not work at all on windows.
Hy country,
that should work. On my Windows7 it worked.
That depends also, if you have ipv6 on your network.
Take a look on your ipconfig. There should be 3 or 4 addresses with ::::
ping -6 s1.streamaudio.de
Ping wird ausgeführt für s1.streamaudio.de [2a02:7aa0:1201:0:186:61:148:240] mit 32 Bytes Daten:

:ok:
Well that sucks I have to turn things on. Should't have to do stuff like that. :hihi:
I thought v6 is on by default.
If you dont know how to activate: http://sourcedaddy.com/windows-7/enabling-or-disabling-ipv6.html
Also your isp has to provide you with v6.
it may be on by default but if you dont use it, what is the point. I see my stuff is all IPv6 and running nicely. Also, if it is not needed by default like it mainly isnt then there is no point to having it.
The point is, v4 addresses are all assigned to rir's.
There are no more v4 in the pool. IPv6 is the step to provide more address space for everyone!
So you dont need to nat anymore.
And between, the v6 stack is prefered if available - so you will use is, but dont notice it.
Well, the future will also show you, that v6 should/must work.
As a provider of service you have to setup v6.
providing your ISP and the like supports it. If not your are SOL until that time.
What do you mean?

Steamaudio.de Down ? :'(
Yes, Steamaudio.de is down because of typo. You should go to streamaudio.de (http://streamaudio.de/).
Yes, Icecast server has stopped.
It seems like a buffer overflow - but i dont know why, because the logfiles say nothing.
Thnaks to all for the mails and information.
Im very sorry for that issue.
I need a smartphone that keep me informed about such problems.
Between: the server itself was online, only icecast stopped.
Icecast Server website is DOWN (August 2nd) :'(
Yes indeed :'(
send Robert a mail but no reply, i think he is on hollyday.
Yes, it was down. Now its runnin.
I reinstall the server this weekend.
Hope that will fix the issue.
Thanks
Uhm, just a question. Do they still read their email at streamaudio.de?
Anybody Recently tried to register with them?
I did send a registration email to them at 23-07-2016, and a reminder at 09-08-2016, but I never received an answer from them.
But I see, that they are still active here.
It would be nice to get an answer :)
Cheers
Icecast Server website is DOWN this morning Friday October 28th. :'(
UPDATE!
Boom! Back up :ok:
Em still very happy i can use this,
Thanks (Danke).
Quotestill very happy i can use this
Me too! :ok:
+1 :ok:
Sorry for the reconnect @ 08:16 CET
My provider reboot the server, after i ask them about speedissues >:D
I should have telled them not restart my system - but after talking with many hoster, they mostly ask before they doing anything on your machine.
Mostly you have to say twice "yes you are allowed to restart my server" ;)
But this time... :-[
Things happen my friend.
De streamaudio is stopd now
Thank you for your mails, i have restarted the icecast2 service.
Now i have some extended logs to hopefully see whats happend.
Everything seems fine for some months, since my hoster restart the server this morning :( Maaaan
As this is not the first time i had that issue, i hope KarlH can help me as i wrote with him before about that.
And he was very helpful, but without good logs he cant help me in the past, now i have 1,4 GB of logfiles saved.
Lets see if icecast show me the issues.
The thing is, i could switch back to Icecast 2.4.1/2.3.2 - so without the kh branch.
But that version brings some nice features like flv wrapping.
And you use that with some flashplayers (Yes i know flash is evil)
Best wishes
Robert
I will keep you informed here.
Update: After looking into the logfiles, and found nearly nothing, i decide to resetup the server from ground up.
Especial because of today there was again the memory problem. Icecast eat the ram, and after some minutes the OOM Killer stops Icecast :bash:
The thing is, with systemctl status icecast2.service it shows icecast would still be runnin... But it was down or stopped.
As some days/weeks ago.
The good is, i have now a small script written that checks every minute if the icecast server_version.xsl file is online, if not it restart icecast. I tested this on another system - it works very well :)
But to be truly, this is not a clean way. There is a memory-bug in Icecast 2.4.0 kh3 :(
The new server will also be debian9 with icecast 2.4.0 kh4.
I can only hope that this will fix the bug, if not i have to go back to 2.3.3kh11.
Also i will change this night the nameserver to be more flexible in changing the subdomains faster.
Currently my domainhoster allow only 3600 sec (1h) as minimum.
With the new one i am able to change it in 300sec/5min :)
All this will happens this night - there will be planned downtime :-X
Dont ask me how long - the theoretical could be up to 24 hours till all dns server are updated. :o
In the next month(s) i will change also the main subdomain of the server from s1.streamaudio.de > stream.streamaudio.de
My old plan was, that this project grows much faster, so i can add server like s2. s3. and so on.
You can change domain if you want today, it allready works. The PTR of the serverips is allready set.
#host 2a02:7aa0:1201:0:186:61:148:240
#...ip6.arpa domain name pointer stream.streamaudio.de
Maybe im able to setup a redirect with nginx on port 8000 to the new server subdomain. Lets see.
But for this night i change mainly the server / ips / nameserver.
s1.streamaudio.de will stay for a longer time ;)
Thanks for the heads up
why not use official versions of icecast? i am running 2.4.2 and it is just happy clam. never had it stop. only had the vps stop but that is easy fix. also been trying to find a good config file setup so i can see what to ditch and to keep. so far burst is not needed anymore. it is old school.

@country: because of some small features, the official version not offer.
well, im not shure if i had problems like this also on the mainbuilds, but i would like to go with the kh version.
the server should never restarted if possible and as i can see in the past days the fresh installed new version of kh runs better. (your server runs since yesterday evening - not realy long :-X)
but all in all i can say that in a saver way in some weeks. meanwhile the ramusage seems much more stable ;D
@all: the move of the server and ip change + ns change where very nice without bigger interuptions.
even when icecast would fail again, because of the oom killer, it would restart after max. 2 minutes :P
so i dont have to look every hour on the server.
some users also ask for some statistics, and i can say that i will setitup in the next days.
for the start i will run it from an external server to test it first and later i will implement it directly in icecast.
MY GOD - please remove these anoying google captchas! >:D
have to do 8 times till i can post :'(
things here run ok just need to edit the config files since some one keeps spiking my traffic. why i dont know but i wish they would stop.
i wonder if i should hard code mount points in the config file.

if networktraffic is your problem, you should consider to use another hoster.
how many terabytes aggregate your listeners?
if i understand you right, hardcoded mountpoints with some fallback &/ autodj is nice.
autodj is not possible for all my user, would cost me to much :hihi:
The server is fine. It is only sending out 96k aac+ to the listeners. But for some reasons it seems to reset at wacky times. no hard coded moutpoints or fall backs. it is all life and up.

if networktraffic is your problem, you should consider to use another hoster.
how many terabytes aggregate your listeners?

Good & Bad news.
Bad first: icecast had again a memoryleak :'(
But my script worked perfect and restarted it after it was dropped by the oom-killer.
After writing a bit with countr101 it seems that im not the only one who have that issue.
Good news: Ive made a new icecast status design for the server.
I like it much more than the common one.Take a look here: http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000 (http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000)
Mountpount will available like this:
http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/?mount=/forest-green (http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/?mount=/forest-green)
http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/?mount=/strul-fm (http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/?mount=/strul-fm)
The old mountpoint scheme is allready active - if you like the common one ;)
http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/status.xsl?mount=/forest-green (http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/status.xsl?mount=/forest-green)
http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/status.xsl?mount=/strul-fm (http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/status.xsl?mount=/strul-fm)
This will be the prework to get the listenerstatics workin 8)
Lets see when im ready - hopefully soon :ok:
Very Cool!
Im not ready yet for statistics, but have meanwhile something new.
Pablo ask me if he could stream over httpS - and after some reading and testing, here it is.
Streaming with SSL:
https://stream.streamaudio.de:8443/fm-vida-95-7.m3u (https://stream.streamaudio.de:8443/fm-vida-95-7.m3u)
https://stream.streamaudio.de:8443/?mount=/fm-vida-95-7 (https://stream.streamaudio.de:8443/?mount=/fm-vida-95-7)
Streaming without SSL:
http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/fm-vida-95-7.m3u (http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/fm-vida-95-7.m3u)
http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/?mount=/fm-vida-95-7 (http://stream.streamaudio.de:8000/?mount=/fm-vida-95-7)
As you can see, i have to use a different port ;)
Enjoy!
I dont see what this provides? I mean sure having SSL on it is great with internet spoofing and all but is that all or what they hope to obtain?

It is better that everybody use ssl/tls on the internet, so its harder to find the important things - google-youtube do it for a longer time and it works well.
The main thing should be the connect/password exchange from your streamingclient to icecast2 with tls.
But i only test it with butt, who doesnt support it yet.
So for now use port 8000 for your streamingclient and 8443 + 8000 for your playlist/webplayer, as the most of them can use tls (vlc/firefox eg.)
We have that nice technologie, why dont use it?

I think you're right about the SSL thing. I think Google is about to start excluding sites from search results if they don't use https:// we've recently switched my blog over.
OK so where would you suggest people look as to start this process on their own?

Good choice indeed, letsencrypt is really nice :)
But google wouldnt exclude your website completely, they "only" give it a worse ranking.
@country101: On google you find enough information to get it runnin.
Got it working here after figuring out that something were in the wrong spot and were not being read. Darn things. At least they work now

I have to inform you that my server has stopped today at 05:30 CEST - without any reason.
This time it was the server itself, not icecast.
So my script that checks if icecast is runnin, couldnt check that :(
I ask my isp why that happens, but didnt get an answer yet.
Meanwhile Icecast is runnin again.
Im sorry for that long downtime - not my goal.
I will build an additional script that check, if the whole server is runnin, not only icecast.
And get informed via sms/mail, to handle that faster.
Greetings
Robert
Thanks for the update Robert.
Rock On!
After you might see the restarts of your streams every couple of hours in the last week...
It was an issue from my provider at the location in goteborg.
Ive tried to fix it by my own, but i doesnt get it right.
So ive moved the icecast today to the datacenter in riga.
I hope that the problem stay away now.
In this way i update to Icecast 2.4.0 KH6 (current release)
Sorry for the issues.
Does anyone on here reply to messages on here? would love to get on here.
