Just fired an event on the test box and I too can confirm that the event loads twice. There is a split second delay between the two.

The auxiliary players problem is still not fixed and gives us problems in live shows. If an imported or non imported file is loaded and idles more than 30 minutes, the playback is mute unless the file is loaded again. Will there be a fix for this bug?

i have tried 1.6.5.5 fixed, 1.6.5.6beta and this version, but there is same bug for me, sometimes event containing "clear playlist" doesn't clear playlist, sometimes works sometimes doesn't work.

Lot of head scratching going on here. Just fired the fixed version of 1.6.5.65 up and within 2 songs it started skipping past songs.

I looked in the error logs and our old friend Watchdog was back  :bash:

QuoteNOTICE: RadioDJ Watchdog detected silence and triggered the next track from the playlist.

Checked on the cue points on the songs it skipped they were all as they should be.

I've Changed the rotation,  keeping an eye on things it didn't seem to like my oldies rotation for some reason, yet songs from the oldies selection have played fine in other versions.

Update it's doing it again skipping past songs double playing it's not good.  :(

Going back to 1.6.5.0 again for the time being.

The file structure hasn't changed, All songs are where they should be. it's same database as I've been using since the updated DB in 1.6.4.9

There are no invalid songs. 1.6.5.0 is working just fine.

Sorry to here your issue KingsbridgeRadio.   I've been running on my test box since overnight and haven't seen the songs skipping issue here.   I was running the latest beta fo 1.6.5.64  and then just updated the 1.6.5.6 Release version with the following files

QuoteModified files:

- RadioDJ.exe
- PluginInterface.dll
- Setup\Database Setup.exe

Plugins:

- Plugin_SayTime.dll

Language Files:

- New Event.xml

and everything is working okay so far

Cheers

I replaced the files that Marius said to replace even changed the .exe again this morning for the fixed version.

Just a thought: If the purpose of the RadioDj watchdog is to detect silence wouldn't it be a better option to let users chose how many seconds of silence it should detect before triggering the next song?

The silence detector in other automation programs is generally set that way. It just seems a bit too trigger happy the way it's currently setup.

+1

I agree with you KingsbridgeRadio.  The time that was added to watchdog delay has created some issues for me when it comes to short news intros.  It leaves me with several seconds of dead air.   :'(

Again the double play issue from the first rotations item.
This happens for 30% of the time.

There has been no confirmation of this file replacement usually Marius confirms it. I'd rather wait for the official confirmation should update 4 workstations I would not have any problems or surprises the previous beta works fine. I can wait. :ok:

Beginning to think that the issues I'm having are down to something on the 32bit box windows installation.  :bash:

I've had it running for a while on the 64bit box and there have been no issues so far. Will still keep an eye on things though.

The only thing I can think of that was causing the issues on the 32bit install was .NET 4.5 had to install that the other week when I updated my SQL editing client Toad for MySQL.

Look after unpacking the archiv at this path: RadioDJ/Languages/Englisch (Uniteted States) - there you'll find "New Event.xml".

This dll-File isn't at the folder PLUGINS - after unpacking the zip-file. There is one file with this name in the folder DISPLAYED PLUGINS - is this the right one?

A strange issue I found: after updating to v1.6.5.65 the "now_playing.txt"-file doesn't work properly. The track title are not rebuilt. It shows the the last played track before updating RDJ.
Is there any solution?

SOLVED after replacing the Plugin_PlayingInfo.xml!

Thanks Marius,
I didn't replace the Plugin_PlayingInfo.xml. After replacing it runs correctly - the tracks are rebuilt now.
If this xml-file has to be replaced for upgrading to v1.6.5.65, it would be great, if this has been listed at your instructions for modifying the files?!

Just look at the first post in this thread from Marius   He lists what has been MODIFIED   those are the only one's you need to update and you'll be good to go.   For others that haven't been using the beta I'd say do a fresh install with the final and start fresh.

You only need to put the say time plugin in the plugin folder if you use it.

The new event xml file does need to be replaced. That is inside the languages folders.

"now_playing.txt" is not working for me either, since upgrade to 1.6.5.65 from 1.6.5.5. (Windows XP).  I replaced all files listed at top of thread.

I tried disabling (unchecking "enable" in Plugin - Now playing info exporter), and clicking save.  Then re-enabling and clicking save.  I Let RadioDJ play a couple songs and it's still not updating "now_playing.txt". Path looks correct.

I'll try replacing more files if I have to.  Maybe some of the settings*.xml's

Ah, solution.

Stopped and closed RadioDJ, then replaced Radiodj\plugins\Plugin_PlayingInfo.dll.  Restarted and "now_playing.txt" immediately updates. Yay :)

Hey everyone,

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem but I use the encoder plugin and have been with no problems on 1.6.5.0.

I decided to give 1.6.5.6 a whirl today after I was rebooting my system as it had been running for weeks without a hitch.

I could not for the life of me get 1.6.5.6 to have the encoders to connect so I can stream, I kept getting an error. I run two one for my 128 and one for my 64 kbps streams.

I went back to using 1.6.5.0 for now without problems, any ideas what could be wrong, has anyone else had this issue?

Would love to be able to use the upgrade whenever it is as smooth as the version I am using now :)

Marius, a quick info.
yesterday, I rolled back to v 1.6.5.5 and auxiliary players work like they should. They started the playback even after 24 hours with a file loaded. The mute playback issue after over 30 minutes of idle with a loaded file, came up with the beta version. Maybe you can find a way to fix this. We use the aux players in the morning show.

Thanks Dragos, fix coming really soon.

@montrealguyhere: the problem is that this behavior doesn't appear to every user, that's why is so hard to be sure that the bug is fixed. When this thing appears again and you're there, can you please do a database backup and send it to me? I suspect that sometimes when the track starts, the db is not updated to mark the track as played, but on my setup i didn't got able to reproduce it yet.

I've never had a dual play problem with RDJ updates (knock on wood).  I am not using the sweeper function over intros/outros, however (if that makes any difference?).  Windows XP, MySQL version 5.6.14.

Hi everyone

All was working really well with the latest version but I just listened back to my voice tracked show from earlier and heard a massive double play, about two station ids played at once along with the start of the news, and then the first two songs of the hour both played together.  :-[

I'm no expert, but there was a long silence beforehand so I think what happened was, the watchdog kicked in with the next item and then it went to play as normal not realizing that the watchdog had already played the next item which caused a massive clash. I think that perhaps When the watchdog kicks in, there needs to be some form of communication with the automation to say that it has already started playing the next item, i think that's what is going wrong.

Just thought I'd let you know  :ok:

Apart from that blip, everything has been going great  :ok:

Dan :-)

Can Watchdog be disabled by going to Options, Options, Auto dj tab, Silence remover, and unchecking the "active" checkbox?

i was wondering if he place the encoder folder in the plugin folder because thats been happening alot people upgrading and for getting to move the encoder to the plugin folder

Hey sorry for the uber late response, lol, Yes I did move the folder over never can forget that during my upgrades. Did everything as I normally would since I've been using radio dj and up until now is when I had the problem.

Marius I will try that and I will definitely post a new thread in the some encoder section.

Thanks you guys :) Ill keep trying to get it going.

Hi there,

On this 1.6.5.6 beta version thread (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=4346.0), Marius said the main players loop and cue points in track editor were implemented also the hilighting of the played artists (with the options).
I was able to find out the hilight played artists option in the autodj settings and get it work. I succedeed also setting the loop cue points and get a track looping properly in the aux players, but not in the main player (the looping cue points don't appear on the played track progress bar instead of the aux players progress bars).

Did somebody succed getting it working ? Or maybe this feature was not embedded in this version ?

Thanks by advance.

Well, now I watched the same failure for two times. Till now I only know this failure by reading this forum.
On second thought, what has changed? I installed some security fixes for NET Framework yesterday and today I did the update of the MS NET Framework from 4.5 to 4.5.1.
Maybe there are incompatibilities and this is the cause of failure?

I tried but I was successfull in looping only when playing the track in the aux players and not in the main players. This is why I asked if somebody was able to do it ? Did you succeed looping a track in the main player ?

Thanks

This is a video how I did it.
Could be that the sound is not quite in sync.

maybe this is what you meant.

Download (http://download1339.mediafire.com/7u6bym5zou2g/nhd3ohnbkzohehi/loop-in-out2.mp4)

It's just that you can not see that there is a loop in the track.
However, it is to see if you have the track in an aux player.
small piece of red is the loop.

At the moment you drag it in it already shows up.

grtz.

Same here which makes me wonder if it is updates or the mysql version perhaps.
Could it be mysql difference between the 32 and 64 bit versions?   I'm not a heavy tech so maybe someone can chime in.

My test box
I've been running mysql server 5.1 64 bit version for over a year now, and did a new database starting from scratch since 1.6.5.x  on Win 7 64bit.  No double plays or songs coming up too soon with rotation rule set at least times played with autodj options set at 360 - 360 with about 1200 song selections not including imaging and jingles.

Running MySQL 5.5.28 here and that's working fine with RDJ 1.6.5.0. Not having the artist/song repeat issue here either.

It's just the updated versions since then that have been causing me grief on both a 32 bit and 64 bit boxes. Mainly to do with the "Watchdog" detecting silence when there wasn't any which in turn caused a double play issue. Which has now lead me to think if the fact all my mp3 files are volume leveled is a possible cause?  :bash:

I'm sure Marius will eventually solve these issues.

Hi there,

I got the main players loop feature working :)
Actually, you need to have loop cue points set on the track you wanna loop in main players (otherwise in aux players, where your track will entirely loop if no loop cue points are set).

The howto video published by jhonny (see post http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=4449.msg26019#msg26019) should be sticked up into the FAQ section because it is very usefull, IMHO.

i dont know if will help any one but here is what we did to get around the double play bug we when into the event and set up a delay of 10 sec and made it a manual event and then we re did out rotation playlist and we added the delay to the play list so when our playlist load it would delay for that duration and the watchdog would trigger nothing and after the time elapse the rotation would play with no double or issue and this has been working for us while we wait for a fix

I  believe the above quoted statements are accurate. I also have a suspicion about different MySQL versions. I personally had quit using MySQL 5.6.x some time ago because it seemed "buggy" to me. I dropped down to 5.5.24 and all has been fine. The only time I had a double play was when I triggered it myself by accident while playing with the Say Time plugin on my test box. It may be a good idea for those having these odd issues to also post their MySQL versions as well (maybe a same version in common is the culprit?).

I also agree that the user needs some kind of control over the Watchdog.  Maybe a combo box with a 1 - 10 range for sensitivity settings with an enable/disable box to go with it. That would stop that issue in it's tracks...

...my humble opinion, of course.  :)

Songs are not importing (already exists) if there is a song with the same name in the database regardless of artists/album. Examples: Bluebird by Buffalo Springfield not imported, because of Bluebird by Bonnie Raitt. Cocaine by Jackson Browne because of Cocaine by Eric Clapton.

It all depends on which DSP plugins you are trying to use. For example: The newer shoutcast DSP 2-3-2 will not work with the DSP plugin.

Just use the built in sound processing plugin that comes with RDJ for that. I recommend the settings in this post http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=2881.0 (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=2881.0)

I don't use any other sound processor and everything sounds great.

Running MySQL 5.5.28 here and that's working fine with RDJ 1.6.5.0. Not having the artist/song repeat issue here either.

I have downgraded MySQL to 5.5 and the issue is still happening, so definitely it is not related to MySQL versions.

What settings are you using for the SQL database have you got it set as "developer machine" Or "server machine"?

Only other thing I could suggest really is try the SQL setup as described in this thread http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=2122.0 (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=2122.0) from back in the 1.6.0 days

DSP plugins usually reside inside the RDJ plugins folder.

As far as DSP Plugins for sound processing to this is the only one I know of it's a paid for plugin http://www.stereotool.com/download/ (http://www.stereotool.com/download/)

You also have one called "SoundSolution" (Google it) But be warned it bites http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=3925.0 (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=3925.0)

I wouldn't recommend either TBH as I've had them both lock up on me. There's bound to be a solution somewhere though.

I have no clue about FM transmitters either so I guess I can't help you on that one.

In future can you start a new topic if you need help with something specific! Many thanks.

I'm not sure if this belongs here, but I'll post it anyway;

I noticed that some imported tracks have incorrect year values. After inspection with Mp3Tag it appears that RDJ is reading ID3 DATE tag as year and it shows up as somewhat insane year 2610 for the Fight Club soundtrack which was released in 26th October 1999.
Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.6.5.6 Released!

I am using bass tags add-on for reading ID3 tags and the year seem to be mapped correctly, here is the actual line:

trackData.Year = tagInfo.year

Just checked and if track data is reloaded in RDJ the year reads 2610. After manually removing DATE tags using Mp3Tag, RDJ loads correct year values.

Another glitch: Track editor always resets genre to Acapella (or whichever is first in dropdown) every time file info is loaded or reloaded.
BTW it should be A capella (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_cappella). ;)

In the past I've used Gracenote from the auto tagger in winamp and that's come back with a totally different year from when the track was actually released.

I'm about to start going through my collection to get the proper years sorted. it's a pain having to do them manually.

Have you tried MusicBrainz Picard (https://musicbrainz.org/doc/MusicBrainz_Picard)? It's a great free tool for sorting out most ID3 tag issues. Another one I'm using is the already mentioned Mp3Tag (http://www.mp3tag.de/en/). It can use discogs or MusicBrainz as metadata source if you have correct album titles.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Double song playing?

I have had this problem ages ago, and although rarely, it is still there. I'm, still using 1.6.5.0, because that was the last stable version for me... I don't use overlays, voice tracking, audio processing or other fancy features. Marius, if you are looking for an answer the cause must have been implemented ages ago.

It happens to me almost every time when:

I have tried when this happend to schedule the event again with the same files (i.e. news.mp3) within two minutes. The second time all went perfect ??? So it looks random, hard to find these kind of errors....

Kind regards,

marcel

(maybe i'll give the latest version a try today, but will keep my backup ;-) I will replace all files, as far as i can see there are no changes in the database since version 1.6.5.0?)

Have you modified database tables? the only unique column in songs table is file path, so it should be ok if title and artist match existing songs as long as the file path is different. I made a copy of a file and RDJ imported the track.

Its seems that resetting Max connections in the MySQL my.ini file to 200 has indeed fixed the Watchdog and double play issues. Been running fine so far here for over an hour the only things showing in the logs are the events firing off.

I feel like i should have known about stuff like that but hey you live and learn.... usually the hard way.  :bash:

In my event:

Jingle 1 starts, immediatly followed by the news (but RDJ is not displaying this). After jingle 1 ends, jingle 2 starts immediatly. News keeps running for some time

Will roll back to the previous version 1.6.5.0 which did the same but less often..

Sorry to hear this double play scenario radiodj@havank.nl.  You must have a valid reason to disable AutoDJ and re-enable it and clear playlists but

I have an event load at the top of the list 30 seconds  to the hour and works within a minute or so and in the event I have just LOAD TO TOP for ALL using only your items 4 - 5 - 6 which are exactly as your scenario but as it's load top it's 6 5 4 of course. I've never needed to clear the playlist, stop the auto DJ and start and then play etc to have it flow as I intended and it has never done what you are describing since many versions ago.   Have you tried just loading your event without the need for the other on/off items and see if that might make a difference or I'm probably missing something as I usually do.  LOL

No 704djs I leave Auto DJ enabled grabbing from the laid out rotations and loading the various rotations through out the day.  Don't use Playlists but will in a few months.  Just AutoDJ and events all the way through.   Oh, Running 1.6.5.6 in the root of C: along with MySQL 64 bit on the same box.  In keeping with the topic current ;)

Greetings Marius,

I am still having problems with events after midnight.

Windows XP Pro SP3, 3.5GB RAM
RadioDJ in List Mode with Notes, some encoder, and Saytime plugins active.

I have one event that triggers 5 seconds before midnight (23:59:55) and does the following:
Stop
Clear Playlist
Load New Rotation
Start some encoder Encoders
Load Track 1 (Signature tune)
Load Track 2 (list of stations relaying Shoutcast Server)
Play

It does all that correctly and proceeds past midnight as time marches on.
After midnight, the first event is at 15 minutes past and every 15 minutes thereafter.... Approx 20% of the time, none of the events after midnight run :(

If I open the events, it all resets and all events process normally.

Maybe it needs a rescan of events immediately after midnight ?
I have noted that RadioDJ cannot see past midnight on the events list if this information is of any use.

Regards,
Chris

Try this old post for instructions on how to do it http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=2122.0 (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=2122.0)

That helped with events stalling in 1.6.0 so it may still be useful to try.

+1

I have the exact same problem, I think it appeared in or after beta 4. I thought somehow it was my fault till now as I've struggled to get my events to run with fluidity.

The button top that normally shows the next event just displays --:-- after midnight, clicking it then closing the event list is enough to put everything back to normal.

I've just come across some weirdness in the Events in the latest final 1.6.56.  Opening events in the hour view coming up two items are indicated in 24 hour mode in the internet news streams and they are at the same times which they are not.  Also one of the promo times aren't showing the correct time.  When I'm not looking at the hour specific view everything shows correctly.   It's like the repeat by day and hour (Hour will be ignored part) isn't ignoring?

Here is a snap to show what I mean.

Hi KingsbridgeRadio,

I increased it from 150 to 200 connections with no effect.
What I will be doing is uninstalling MySQL and putting in a fresh copy which I've downloaded ready to do so.

We will see how it goes after that.

Thanks KingsbridgeRadio and also Marius who must put in a heck of a lot of time into this project.

As far as I can tell from queries in MySQL general-log, the issue is not in MySQL at all, so reinstalling won't help.

Thanks Andy,

That explains why it didn't work then LOL.

But it was worth a shot. Heck yes.

The problem doesn't happen every time. Last night it went through perfectly without a problem. The two nights before, it needed a mouse-click to get it going again.
It's very tiring having to be up each midnight and online by remote control, and then have to be up early each morning.

I notice that setting up events is in 24hr format. Dot Net uses the Date and DateTime (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8kb3ddd4%28v=vs.90%29.aspx) specifiers. If your system clock is set to the 12hr format, I'm wondering if there is an issue with midnight being read as 12:00(system) as opposed to 00:00(in database interpreted by DateTime) and getting confused hence the event not firing as expected.

Try setting the computer to the 24hr format. In Win7, Control Panel -> Region and Language.
Set "Short Time" to "HH:mm" and Long time to "HH:mm:ss" and this will probably clear it up.

My system is already set for 24 hour clock (XP 64bit).

I saw mentioned elsewhere that the problem was triggered at 8 minutes past midnight so I sat, glued to the screen last night, to see what time it did trigger. For me it was exactly midnight, the button top changed from the next event to --:--.

There is nothing in the event log to correspond to this issue although, interestingly, there are random "Silence Detect" events even though I've turned off the "Silence Remover".

As an aside to the latter, could someone tell me the meaning of the start, mix and end thresholds for the silence remover.

I've stopped using the silence remover and only having fade out duration set at 3600. All my tracks are volume levelled and everything mixes fine.

QuoteThere is nothing in the event log to correspond to this issue although, interestingly, there are random "Silence Detect" events even though I've turned off the "Silence Remover".

Marius has stated that it's usually the track before the one that causes the "watchdog" error to generate see this post http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=4550.msg26500#msg26500 (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=4550.msg26500#msg26500)

I've found in my case it was long bits of silence at the beginning of jingles that was causing the "watchdog" issue on my end. Check any jingles that may have more silence than they need at the beginning and edit them with audacity and remove the excess silence. Re-edit the cue points after you have done that.

You could also try upgrading to the new beta as that seems to be working rather well.

Are you saying it's not the silence remover that's doing this even though it's still showing up in the log? I may not have restarted RDJ since I turned it off so I will do this.

I'm in a bit of a difficult spot here, my OTH event is constructed as follows:
News intro Jingle
Pips (time signature)
News
News outro Jingle

I have written a little program to download the news every hour and use the MP3 as-is, there is no way I can edit it every hour.
The last hours news MP3 had just 100ms of silence at the beginning but 1300ms at the end. The pips file has 0 ms either end and the jingle 100ms either end. I have already turned off the "High Precision Cue Points" for the news file as per another post.

A very significant point is that this problem is random ie it only shows in the log 2 or 3 times a day even though it runs 24 times each 24 hour period and the error is never at the same time twice.

You could also try upgrading to the new beta as that seems to be working rather well.

I am running the current BETA in the hope of overcoming the midnight issue, which is still on-going. I might roll back to the 1.6.5.5 version as I am sure the midnight problem manifested itself in the 1.6.5.6 beta.

Thanks for your input.

I conducted three tests last night with three very simple clear queue events at 23:55, 00:05, and 00:10. All three fired with the clock in 24 hr format.

I programmed them at 23:30. The first one counted down from 23:30 all the way down to the first event which fired off as expected. When it was complete, the button showed "--:--" At exactly 00:00, the five minute countdown to the second event started, it fired off as expected as did the third.

I know this is a silly question, but did you verify the dates when you set up the events? I almost missed that myself when setting up my tests. Just a thought...  :)

Thanks for your interest SnowHow.

My events have been set up for weeks, the events after midnight are "Repeat by day" type but until I spotted the problem I would find that late night rotation was still running in the morning. A new rotation should have loaded at 7am and, if I didn't get to the machine in time, another at 9am.

The setup of the 7am/9am events are 100% identical to the daytime events (for rotation change) which all work perfectly.

I've just checked the event log and found that the news which is a "Repeat by Day and Hour" (for every hour) also fails after midnight until I reset everything.

Thanks

Nick

Good news (I hope) regarding the after midnight issue I've been having.

I noticed that Google Update was running at 23:58 each night (30 seconds before my midnight events started) via Windows Scheduled Tasks. I disabled the Google task and tonight, for the first time in a long time, my events passed midnight without a problem.

It's too soon to say for sure but I think I'm on a winner.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

Silly question Nick, but you did set the news.mp3 as a VDF file?

The short answer is no. The file is 2 minutes +/- 1 second at most so it's never given me any obvious problems. I will however change it to VDF for completeness now that you have reminded me.

Thanks

No problems again tonight, looks like there must have been a conflict with RDJ and Google Update.

"I can't get it to work" doesn't help us much. If you need help getting set up, please start a thread in the appropriate support forum outlining what you have tried, and any errors you are getting. Then we can help.

Thanks.

I just got a double play (the first i've heard) with version 1.6.5.65.  It seems to have occurred right when it loaded a new track rotation that starts with a quick jingle (liner), and then song.  RadioDJ played the liner, and then immediately started the next two scheduled songs simultaneously.

Windows event log error says, "NOTICE: RadioDJ Watchdog detected silence and triggered the next track from the playlist. . ."

I recently changed my track rotations to begin with a jingle (liner) as first event.  Previously it was a song.  I don't know if that makes any difference?  I will try updating to the 1.6.5.7 beta to see if double play occurs again.

To the best of my knowledge, this issue seems to be finally fixed in 1.6.5.7 Beta.  :ok:
