Title: Sound Solution 1.31 - Presets (for newbees)
Post by: kevin95 on July 10, 2010, 03:36:44 PM
HI,

I guess when you downloaded this GREAT radiodj program and you are using Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source DSP v. 1.90
there comes a great soundprocessingtool called Sound Solution 1.31.

When i first opened it, looks great but the settings are not what i wanted, first time playing with the settings it just get worst :)... I guess when you dont know anything about Sound processing its a terrible thing..

So for the Newbees in Sound processing: You want to sound your radio station, HARD - FAT and UGLY?

Here are the settings....
Wanne adjust? use the Threshold Db up or down - Attack MS up or down, you will hear the difference...

PS: it allways can be better set, but this is a nice thing to start with!!

Actually, the plugin as it comes, has no preset. Its values are default ones.
PS: i made this topic sticky. It may be useful for exchanging SS presets.

I know this topic hasnt been used for a while but I use sound solution with Winamp but how do I get it to process before it airs from Radio DJ?

Do you mean you want to process the sound before to send it to your shoutcast server?
or do you want to hear the processed sound through your audio card output?

Since longtime i don't use winamp but i think you should use a so called "Linein" plugin to capture the output of your sound card. Otherwise you can quit winamp and use a FREE caster application, me i use MBRECASTER (http://www.mbradio.it/en/mb-recorder/mb-recaster-free) for this purpose because it has DSP Processors builted-in (including SoundSolution)

Old topic but great plug.

this is a screenshot: http://i1-win.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Sound-Solution_1.png (http://i1-win.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Sound-Solution_1.png)

- Preset 1 is soft enhance with a bit of AGC - I use this for general broadcasting
- Preset 2 is the same but full range AGC - I use this when I listen to music while playing games. Music will be very low so if a track is quiet I will still hear it cause AGC.

In general AGC is great but to be used with moderation. Especially setting 1 wont change the sound too much.
It will be a bit brighter and stereo slightly expanded. The quiet songs will be adjusted slightly. The key is to not over process but rather process slightly in multiple stages.

Yep, got it. Wouldn't happen to have some thoughts on settings, would you? Maybe throw a screen shot my way if possible? Just sounded too bright for my liking. But again, I'm totally unfamiliar with this utility and its settings.

Ok guys there is one thing. Setting up sound processing isn't very easy. This will take some time and sounding like the HITRADIO*SOUND*THAT*IS*VERY*PROCESSED can sound nice but one little thing wrong and you ruin the audio. Why do i tell this: if you look at  http://i1-win.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Sound-Solution_1.png (http://i1-win.softpedia-static.com/screenshots/Sound-Solution_1.png) i noticed a pre-emphases. This is only usefull when you have a transmitter so going for real on the airwaves. For a internet stream it does more harm than it could do good. Switch it off and you will notice more body to your sound and maybe too much because the lack of bass is compensated by an EQ or a subbass filter or somekindofsomething.
