Title: RadioDJ v2.0.1.3 BETA Released!
Post by: Marius on November 12, 2018, 08:59:31 AM
The new beta is out for testing!
No database changes since the last version, so for v2.0.1.2 users it's enough to run the installer to replace the files.

This release includes fixes for most of the reported issues from the beta forum.

Hopefully soon enough the application will have a certificate so we will end this false positive stuff. For now, the only way is to add the program to the exclusion list of the antivirus.

I'm also having issues trying to Install it Windows Defender appears to think there is a threat in the file and it won't let me do anything with the .exe file
Can't even add the .exe to the exclude list in WD because it thinks its in use somewhere else on the computer.
It won't even let me copy it from one drive to another.

I've tried re-downloading it and I keep getting a "Failed" to download message. Windows isn't liking the file at all... there is nothing else I can do on my end

Like I said it won't even let me exclude the file from Windows defender so I'm somewhat screwed.

Tried downloading on at leats 3 different browsers with the same FAILED result everytime.

I've got it working and so far so good its running smoothly... Just one question when will we be able to use our old databases with the newer versions? I don't fancy having to lose 4+ years of hard work.

Windows 10 won't let me install either.  I get the blue defender warning and click more info and Run anyway and select yes and then aborts out and the Setup File is now removed from my downloads folder.   I'll try downloading again and try Jhonny's trick if I can find it in Defender. ::) [Edit]  Firefox now won't let me download it from the get go.   I'll have to clear all the history and wait for a bit I guess.

Try disabling Windows defender and try again... make sure the RadioDJ beta folder is added to exclusions as well... Its the only way I could get it working.

Ok, i reuploaded this version for the users with antiviruses that blocked the download.
This time according to virustotal, none of the antivirus engine doesn't raise a false positive: https://www.virustotal.com/ro/file/2ffeb23b8f3e0dfc0ac9edd6544b255f13589f948a40416bb0c223398fedd445/analysis/1542029211/ (https://www.virustotal.com/ro/file/2ffeb23b8f3e0dfc0ac9edd6544b255f13589f948a40416bb0c223398fedd445/analysis/1542029211/)

Thanks Marius no problems with installing this latest 2.0.13 Beta 2 version on Win10.  THANK YOU ;)
(note: the earlier version of this beta with defender issues on Win 10 wouldn't let me run the program after an exit. So anyone with the earlier version should replace asap)

Back to testing.  :cool:

Problem TTS: I state that I installed the voice Brian of ivona.
Enabled the pluigin TTS, Radiodj every 3 or 4 songs announces with voice Microsoft Anna (why not with the voice Brian while being enabled as the main voice)? the song on the air. This is very annoying because it is not wanted. I do not want to disable
  the TTS because I do tests with the Ivona voice. In previous versions it did not happen. How to solve the problem?   :bash: :bash: :bash:

Try to add the voice name not the ID.
For example

<Voice>Microsoft ZiraDesktop</Voice>

or

<Voice>Microsoft David Desktop</Voice>

Win10/Maria DB 2.0.1.3 Beta
Looking at the change log
QuoteAutoDJ items to keep was implemented.

I have set the keep in playlist to [12] and have a rotation built with 14.   When I hit clear playlist, it will populate only up to the [12] as directed. They load one slot at a time until 12 are reached.   Watching the AutoDJ I see each time a song plays it adds one to the bottom keeping always the [12] in the cue.   Nice.

Cheers.

Win10 and MariaDB, no issue installing 2.0.1.3 Beta. The playlist keeps 15 tracks or jingles (I set) in the rotation. The SayTime works (with a trick: I divided the bed in 2 and in the middle starts the saytime). I build a quick Teaser and it's ok. No more problems in the NowPlaying Info. More testing on the run.  :ok:

Hey plauri...

How did you set up the time announce?
Thanks!
I cut my saytime sound effect (which lasts 4 seconds) in 2. The first is 1 second and the second 3. Then I created a manual event which loads the first SayTime "Schedule playtime announcement". Load first and second bed/effect and create a playlist where you have bed 1 then SayTime manual event and after the other bed/effect. You should work a little bit with start/next and end to make the 2 beds sound as it was before cutting them. I'm still not completely satisfied... but it works

Thanks Marius, as you suggested, I modified the 'NowPlaying.xml' TTS by adding Microsoft Brian Desktop. But RadioDj keeps announcing the songs in playlists following the NowPlaying.xml. the DataBase (Now use the Ivona voice). I solved by eliminating the TTS from the main direction, I will continue 'to experiment with Voice Ivona with another' version of RadioDj in the PC.

OK - after a number of releases that I wasn't able to install (virusproblem) and today the fact that Google put the download on a blacklist (so Firefox marks the whole site as "dangerous" and Google blocks the download) I was able to install part of the latest beta (The reporter .exe is still treated as malicious, and though I've marked it as "safe", the installer first makes a tempory file which gets quarantined) I was able to test the latest beta.

Seems to work well, but for my usage I'd love to see an option to choose to use the "old" behaviour of inserting one whole cycle of a rotation when you have not enough files in the playlist. Reason is that with my usage of rotations (multiple rotations that are relatively short that get switched over frequently) it seems to work better for randomness that way. I've explained it in another post, and also pointed out what (in extreme cases) could be the result.

Though I love the new way of doing it, but not for my usage, and I can imagine that there are others that will run into the same problem.

I made an installation in 2.0.0.6 of this 2.0.1.3
an upgrade
then in database setup select update file 2.0.0.6 to 2.0.1.2 sql
And it is running in full version 2-0-1-3 copied the database not being precise which would take me a long time to install a clean database from the beginning. It would take time and a lot of work.

Hi neutralhills, please don't update yet to this as it's a beta version, instead if you want to test it, create a new database for it to be sure that everything is fine.

I was planning on testing on a spare laptop using a copy of the database from the main playout system. Not using in a production environment until it's out of beta.

Got it neutralhills. If you have a running v2.0.0.6 (which wasn't updated to any newer version yet), you can update to the latest beta using the "2.0.0.6 TO 2.0.1.2.sql" database update file.

@Chip Douglas Mosley & adrinto, what rotation item is skipping? Jingle or tracks? One thing to note is that the program is using the old version of AutoDJ and its biggest limitation is that it applies the repeat rules to all elements from the queuelist table, so to avoid this behaviour, please try to keep as low as possible the number of playlist elements (preferably under 7). The new version of AutoDJ is in tests until i'm sure that it works as it should and for sure you will be pleased by the results as the generated playlist is way more diverse, but also way better calculated.

Marius, for me it's tracks. I have a rotation set up like this:

EVENT TTS Disable
Song without sweeper
Song with sweeper over intro
Song with sweeper over intro
REPEAT

I use this as a fill sequence and each time it come up, it starts where it left off, sometimes skipping the event, sometimes starting with the second song, sometimes starting with the third song, etc. I have had v2.0.1.2 on air now for several days and this sequence works very well in that version. I have v2.0.1.3 running off-line and that's where it skips. I have 4 in the queuelist table.

Also, I'm still having problems with a pause in the audio every time an EVENT is scheduled to run, in v2.0.1.2 and v2.0.1.3.

Overall, I'm very impressed with the updates. Thanks for the continuing hard work!  :cool:

I managed to install it despite my bitdefender AV whining about it. Aparently, it didn't like the reports plugin. Everything seems to be running smoothly, except for the fact that it doesn't keep play count anymore. I reset everything: history, priority, playcount. All the played songs show as played 0 times. Any thoughts?

Think I've found the culprit somehow when I had upgraded the database with the 2006>>2012 patch it didn't populate the updatetracks2 with any code.

I applied other patches from the other upgrades and I ended up with the magic code now I haven't got any errors posting themselves and I have my song database as it should be...

In 2.0.0.6 the number is tracks in the queue equals the length of the rotation when you clear the playlist

Now the # of tracks is determined by the options set in AutoDJ options.

This messes up my rotations as I need them to start with certain categories and have a fixed lenghth.

Could you make the new behaviour optional and let us choose what to use?

Got it neutralhills. If you have a running v2.0.0.6 (which wasn't updated to any newer version yet), you can update to the latest beta using the "2.0.0.6 TO 2.0.1.2.sql" database update file.

Thanks Marius, I'll play with it some tomorrow and report any issues. I'm using a clean install of Windows 7 Pro to be safe.

I started v2.0.1.3 with a clean database (and tested for a while), then I imported all my tracks running on v1.8.2 on a local hd. I did an import of my db running in v1.8.2 into v2.0.1.3, then I used Database Utils making update from 1.8.2 TO 2.sql, 2.0.0.3 TO 2.0.0.4.sql, 2.0.0.6 TO 2.0.0.9.sql and finally 2.0.0.9 TO 2.0.1.2.sql. Of course I did a Relocate Tracks (and it took me a lot of time, because I have more than 50 folders with music and some of them I had to do twice). No errors running the first time v.2.0.1.3. After that rotations have become to have  repeating songs (sometimes the same song 3, 4 times one after the other. So I edited rotations and saved. Nothing changed. Reset playcounts and rotations started to run as they should. No problem in running news from a direct stream and with a bed. SayTime works (I had to rebuild the manual saytime with the new one) as before with a slight difference: the time starts a bit late, 1 second so it ends with no effect. Teaser works as before (I had to set them again in the Teaser Plugins). All the events works (Load by categories and load by rotations: even rotations that start with a specific jingle). At the moment everything is running smootly, crossfingers. I'm going on testing, Marius  :ok:

I've noted this a couple of times before in this forum, and after thinking of it, I think it can also be implemented differently and from a programmatically point of view easier: respect the rotation until it has been fully played. Most likely can be done in a few lines of code; just remember the rotation that is started, and look for a new rotation id when all tracks (added one by one like the "new" behaviour) have been added.

Doesn't have to be another option because if you don't experience problems with this behaviour, you won't notice the difference. Though if you experience it now, it makes a big difference.

It happens (see 2 posts above) that one of my rotation keeps repeating the same track sometimes 2 or 3 times in half an hour (the rotation lasts one hour and it's a 100 tracks (just one artist) to choose from. And yes I know that some of these artists have been played before this rotation, so it's less than 100 to choose from. But the rules are the same in v1.8.2 and this has never never happened in 2 years time.

Win10 / MariaDB 2.0.1.3 Beta

Running now well over a week 24/7.  Fired up the RadioDJ Reports and shows everything has been playing, playlists, rotations, manual & program events as created.   @zandgame17 - I just set up the Folder Sync. (Never used the feature before this morning) to check it out and it updated with new music & Genre etc with no errors on my end.

In the 7 days so far there has been No Errors reported in the Windows event log. :cool:

The Keep in Playlist feature is great but I agree there should be an option to toggle off/on for those with specific rotations.

Nice one Marius.
Cheers.

Restored from Beta 2012 (didn't require a conversion to 2.0.1.3 Beta) in my case.
You might be on to something with issues from V6 to v13

What do you think I can do to solve my problem about rotations which keep repeating either the same song or the same artist. Basically it doesn't respect the rule "do not play same track, artist, title and album" before 360 minutes and lowering this number is absurd (I have about 8k tracks in the db), and this doesn't happen in v.1.8.2.  :bash:

Apart from this the v2.0.1.3 is running rock solid, but I can't use it "on the air".

I will release tomorrow the new beta which will include manny bug fixes and the new AutoDJ i've been working on for the last month.
From my reports by letting the program running continuously for many days, the artist/track/title/album separation is great, and more important the tracks are played progressively, without having tracks played more often than others, like in the previous version.
Also, to please users which are using "keep in playlist" count  vs. users who liked better the old behaviour of the AutoDJ (loading rotation after rotation), i added the option to set the "keep in playlist" value to zero, mode in which AutoDJ will behave like in the old version.

Marius,

I'm having a problem with RadioDJ.
Running v2.0.2.3 but this also occurred with v2.0.1.1 amd 2

Everything is running fine and I'm doing my thursday 4hr show - a track starts and then the microsoft activity circle starts and RadioDJ become unresponsive.
Windows is staggering even though there appears to be very little CPU activity.
RAM usage is less than 50% (8GB installed).
Hard drive activity is near zero (200+GB still free).
The track playing continues to play out and when it finishes, nothing happens and all is silent.
The clock also freezes in RadioDJ.

It does not happen with the same track so it isn't a particular track causing it.

Any suggestions ?

I do have a photo of the screen.
I'm running in list mode usually but it has occurred in slot mode once.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Marius,

Hmmm. Thats a point. I will check.
Radio DJ doesn't throw up a log and I'm guessing that it won't if it's locked up.
I didn't think of windows logs LOL. Obvious !! I will have a look.

[A little bit later] Nup. Nothing. I expected to find something but not a thing.

A pic of the locked up laptop is at http://medievalcrazy.com/20181129_140941.jpg
Runs 2 screens - note the screen on the left has CPU Usage and Process monitors. The right screen has the time frozen and the little Microsoft activity circle.

Regards,
Chris

I can understand the reaction though; with the release of v2 it was announced to be "soon" over 1,5 years before it's actual release. And now, the release should fix some things that are going wrong in previous releases. Ofcourse you can react with "but those are beta release", but don't forget they were put into beta's after they were normal releases...

If i delay a release it simply means that i consider that it needs more testing.
Don't forget that i'm only one person which codes the program, test it, running the forum and yeah, i also have a family. So, wanna switch the place with me?  ::)

PS: Only a person which does programming knows how is to modify something in a large program, where simple modifications have huge impact to the rest of the program. I guess that from now on i will no longer tell anyone when i will plan to release something. In this way we will not have these discussions.

If this comment was meant for me: I do enough programming to know what a simple modification can cause. But I also know, as that same programmer, that a "customer" is disappointed (at least) when you've told them that a new version is coming, and then he has to wait for it for longer as anticipated/promised. Especially when the new release is meant to solve some problems for that particular customer.

My comment was only meant to give a bit of understanding to people who were waiting for a fix, that was already announced as coming in a day, and now they have to wait significantly longer. If software is paid for or given away for free doesn't matter: the expectation is present. From me every bit of understanding for trying to make RDJ better all the time, but as you already mentioned: it's better not to announce a new release when it's not 100% ready for release because you have all the right to a life away of a computerscreen  ;)

It wasn't meant necessarily for you, but issues that can be found in the last moment are a reality and i prefer to make the users wait when i know that something doesn't work as expected, instead of releasing it...  ;)

Doing mock Christmas programing and switching events playlists and rotations and all functioning on cue.  Like I said before it seems more robust.

Cheers.

Wow it's like reading my story!!! Hey man do what you do, it's all good and worth it. I love what you do when you do find the time to do it.  ;D

I have two software's I'm developing so I know how it is. I have learned from you to keep testing until it has NO problems before a release and even for me the developer it gets weary at times but I know I'll be glad I waited before I release them.  :'(

I updated from 2006 to 2013 (and updated the database), but I noticed that that "Title Played" column isn't updating (the 2002 date stays there after the track started (and also finished) playing). The other three "Played" columns are updating.
Have I done anything wrong during the update? (However, I tried it with a new database and still not working/updating).
In the 2006 version it works.

maybe the plauri's problem is related to it, too

I also noticed ths issue in 2006 related to "title played":

Although the "Title Played" column is updating, sometimes the "don't repeat title" setting is not respected. For example, I had Christina Perri - Human followed by Rag'n'bone Man - Human. And when I manually play one of these two tracks, only that one gets red in the search list, not the other (I assume that the red colour indicates all currently "forbidden" tracks, not just the same artist)

Hey kaaro, nice find! Working on it, thanks for reporting.

It can be something related to what Kaaro has pointed out.
From my side: I started testing again after some days (so I had all the tracks ready to play). As soon as radiodj started I had 2 songs from Kc & Sunshine Band in half an hour ready to play  :'(. After the first song played it became red, not the others from the same artist: "Date Played" and "Album Played" were updated, not "Title Played". I hope this helps

There is an error in the MySQL procedure, for advanced users who want to keep their database and are able to edit the procedure with HeidiSQL, here is what needs to be changed:

Original Code:
IF tType = 0 OR tType = 9 THEN
UPDATE `songs` SET `artist_played`=NOW() WHERE `artist`=@curArtist;
UPDATE `songs` SET `title_played`=NOW() WHERE `title`=@curTitle;
IF @tAlbum <> '' THEN
UPDATE `songs` SET `album_played`=NOW() WHERE `album`=@tAlbum;
END IF;
END IF;

Modified Code:
IF tType = 0 OR tType = 9 THEN
UPDATE `songs` SET `artist_played`=NOW() WHERE `artist`=curArtist;
UPDATE `songs` SET `title_played`=NOW() WHERE `title`=curTitle;
IF @tAlbum <> '' THEN
UPDATE `songs` SET `album_played`=NOW() WHERE `album`=@tAlbum;
END IF;
END IF;

Notice that the two input variables (curArtist and curTitle) have in front the "@" character which needs to be removed. Just those two, the "@tAlbum" will remain the same.

Or simply run this query to delete the old procedure code and create it again correctly. The rest of the database will remain untouched :

DROP PROCEDURE IF EXISTS `UpdateTracks2`;

DELIMITER $$

CREATE PROCEDURE `UpdateTracks2`(
IN `trackID` INT,
IN `curArtist` VARCHAR(250),
IN `curTitle` VARCHAR(250),

IN `pWeight` DOUBLE
)

BEGIN
-- Update Count Playedradiodj2
UPDATE `songs` SET `count_played`=`count_played`+1, `date_played`=NOW() WHERE `ID`=trackID;

-- UPDATE ARTIST, ALBUM AND TITLE
SET @tAlbum = (SELECT album FROM songs WHERE ID=trackID);

IF tType = 0 OR tType = 9 THEN
UPDATE `songs` SET `artist_played`=NOW() WHERE `artist`=curArtist;
UPDATE `songs` SET `title_played`=NOW() WHERE `title`=curTitle;
IF @tAlbum <> '' THEN
UPDATE `songs` SET `album_played`=NOW() WHERE `album`=@tAlbum;
END IF;
END IF;

-- UPDATE REQUESTS
IF tType = 9 THEN
UPDATE `requests` SET `played`=1 WHERE `songID`=trackID;
END IF;

-- DISABLE BY PLAYCOUNT
UPDATE `songs` SET `enabled`=0, `play_limit`=0 WHERE `enabled`=1 AND `play_limit`>0 AND `count_played`>=`play_limit` AND `limit_action`=1;

-- DELETE BY PLAYCOUNT
DELETE FROM `songs` WHERE `play_limit`>0 AND `count_played`>=`play_limit` AND `limit_action`=2;

-- MOVE TO SUBCATEGORY
UPDATE `songs` SET `id_subcat`=ABS(limit_action), `play_limit`=0, limit_action=0 WHERE `enabled`=1 AND `limit_action`<0 AND `count_played`>=`play_limit`;

-- UPDATE WEIGHT
IF pWeight>0 THEN
UPDATE `songs` SET `weight`=`weight`-pWeight WHERE `ID`=trackID AND (`weight`-pWeight)>=0;
END IF;

-- UPDATE HISTORY
IF historyDays > 0 THEN
INSERT INTO `history`(trackID, date_played, song_type, id_subcat, id_genre, duration, artist, original_artist, title, album, composer, label, `year`, track_no, disc_no, publisher, copyright, isrc, listeners)
SELECT ID, NOW(), song_type, id_subcat, id_genre, duration, curArtist, original_artist, curTitle, album, composer, label, `year`, track_no, disc_no, publisher, copyright, isrc, curListeners FROM `songs` WHERE ID=trackID;
END IF;

-- DELETE OLDER ENTRIES FROM HISTORY
DELETE FROM `history` WHERE TIMESTAMPDIFF(DAY, `date_played`, NOW()) >= historyDays;

After finding count anomalies I decided to use Heidi for the first time and gave it a shot. :-[  Crossing fingers.  ;)

I think that the Kc & Sunshine Band problem (and many other reported) is caused also by the fact that the RadioDJ seems to apply the repeat rules only after the song starts to play, i.e. it does not apply the rules for songs that are only  in the playlist queue. And therefore there are songs in the playlist that do not respect the repeat rules, because the second song is added to the queue before the first song has started to play.
I think a solution would be:
- at the moment the song is added to the playlist  queue, to "temporarily" add the (estimated) playtimes to the respective "played" columns (and increase the playcount and decrease the priority as applicable)
- if the song is manually deleted from the playlist, to bring back the previous values in the playedtime, playcount and priority columns (I hope there is a way to "remember" the previous playtime at least until the song is actually played or manually deleted from the queue)
- if the song is really played, to replace the estimated playtimes with the actual time

Another thing (I know that it should be in the Feature requests thread, but anyway): is it possible so that the history list is not cleared each time the program is closed and that the history list includes the same filters ((sub)categories and name input box) as the search list? Thanks

I upgraded to v2.0.0.9 when it was on the downloads page; how do I upgrade from it to v2.0.1.3?

I was having a problem with the same song scheduling twice in a row with every update last Sunday even though I have song separation set up for 360 minutes. I "solved" the problem by resetting the playcount for everything and it hasn't happened since.
