Hi Marius,  When you say "Replace all .dll files with the new ones" do you mean just the ones in the plugin folder as before, or do you mean replace all .dll files in all folders.

Thank you

Hi Marius,

Seems to be working OK at Rainbow FM - I'll be watching it change over at midnight still with fingers crossed although that bug hasn't been mentioned as fixed. I'm expecting it isn't as it might take a bit to find.

The Playlist Builder bug with the playlist jumping to the top after track insertion is still there but the playlist in the main program is working great. (Doesn't jump)  :)

This is all verging on 'exciting' LOL !

Chris

can you give me an example for the plugin Teaser, how it works and why is it useful?
I tried to understand and to try but I did not understand anything.  :'( :bash:

Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.6.5.8 RC4 Released!
Post by: creativegroup on May 24, 2014, 04:21:47 PM
Hi Maurocal

The new teaser plugin is used to tease upcoming songs in the playlist. From RDJ 1.6.5.8 RC3 two new cue points were added to CUE editor 'Hook In' and 'Hook Out' which you can add to tracks just like you can the 'intro' and the 'outro' ect. Not sure if you know, but in music a 'hook' is defined as the most catchy part of a song, the bit that the listeners rememebers and loves the most (usually the chorus, but its up to you to to decide where the hook would be)

Once you have these points set on a track, and it is in the main playlist, you can use a keyboard shortcut or event to allow RDJ to detect which songs in the playlist have these 'Hook In' and 'Hook OUT' points set, and can load just the 'Hook In' and 'Hook out' segment of these tracks into the playlist. You can then play this, and the hook of the song will play, a bit like a clip.

This is how it can be useful for me. I am in a live hour and I want listeners to stay tuned because there are some BRILLIANT songs in the next hour. So I press 'f12' (the keyboard shortcut I set to load a dry tease) and the hooks of some of the songs will then appear at the top of the playlist and I can play them. Providing that I have set the Hook points of at least one song in the playlist. I can then say coming up we have 'xx' and a clip of that song can be played and it sounds rather proffesional.
Hope that explains things. To be honest, I can't really get my head around the 'Intro' 'trainsition' and 'Endings' elements, but I'm sure somebody else can explain that to you!

;)

Post by: twelch1980 on May 24, 2014, 04:32:31 PM
The intro allows you to have a pre-recorded element that says "Coming up this hour...", the transition can be a simple sound effect to mix one hook with another (a separator if you will) and the ending is "That's all coming up this hour on blah blah"

Good explanation ! ;) To Marius: It would be useful, i think, if an indicator could show if a song displayed in the search list or in the playlist contains a hook...
Bravo Marius for your great work ! :ok:

Everything working fine here so far, just using on automation at the moment but here there are no problems with the new version of the some encoder plugin.

Stream101, Did you copy your settings across ok? (I use method 2 to upgrade, deleting the 6 "new" various settings .xml files before copying across over the existing installation.)

I deleted 5 of the xml files (settings). I didnt have the album art downloader in the current version, so I didnt delete it. Everything else seems to work but some encoder right now.

Gonna mess with it in about 10 minutes and try again!

Great Stream101! Glad you got it going :)

Actually, Marius, I just noticed a minor point, I looked and at the very top of the RadioDJ frame, instead of the station name and slogan input under settings, it just seemed to be showing "Loading Events....." However, nothing was actually wrong or stuck with the actual program, just the text showing instead of the station id which also showed the same on the shortcut on the toolbar. v8 RC4 on XP Pro.

Restarting RadioDJ solved it, will check if it does it again.

Yes, it will do it again at midnight  :D
Sorry for that, i was debugging something and i forgot to remove that line, but beside displaying that text, it will not interfere in any way with the program itself.

Thanks for reporting it.

Hi, I wanted to point 2 small inaccuracies if radiodj: :D
In Idle load traces the priority has no decimals such as 81.5 82 82.5 ... but the screen management are regular.
The second relates to the centering of the nonsense written in the edit management tracks which is shifted upward. :bash:

Hi Chris, i have some free time so i said to take a look on this bug you mention, but i don't seem to be able to replicate it. Can you detail it step by step, please?
Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.6.5.8 RC4 Released!
Post by: chrismadog on May 26, 2014, 12:19:53 PM
Hi Marius,

1. In Playlist Builder, put a heap of files into the playlist (so you have to scroll down to see the bottom one), and then go to the bottom of the playlist you have created.
2. Now drag and drop somewhere near the playlist bottom, or double click a file to put it at the bottom of the playlist.

what it does here is the playlist view shoots to the top and to see the file you have put in, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list again (or to where you inserted the new track).

It happens on every machine I have tried it on here with Win XP, Vista and 7.

And thanks for all your work !
A little 'something' coming your way very soon I think (from Rainbow FM).

Regards,
Chris

setting:
default priority = 50

initial Priority  = 50.0
after played, priority = 100

someone else can verify?

Could you fix this? This version still don't add the request to a playlist with sweeper at "Auto add mode"

Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.6.5.8 RC4 Released!
Post by: Marius on May 26, 2014, 10:59:34 PM
Dear Molnar!

There is nothing to fix. What you're asking for is a new feature, not something that is broke. Even if you select the sweeper button in search list, it will affect only the files from the search list, and not files that you will add from other sources.

If it's really that important for you to play the sweepers on requests, i will add that feature too.

I have been trying out the teaser plugin for a good few days and i just love it, I use the dry function for live shows and the other for automation.

The only issue i am having at the moment isn't to do with the plugin itself, but I have a manual event in my rotation for automated playout to load the teaser with the intro, separators and endings at a certain point in the rotation, but for some reason RDJ panics a little bit when it hits the manual event. It loads the teaser just fine at the top of the playlist and it looks  ready to go, but it doesn't seem to play until the very end of the track, sometimes quite a few seconds afterwards causing a few seconds of dead air. I don't understand why the teaser isn't fired on the next start marker, like every other track would be. It's certainly a problem with manual events though, because I have had the same issue with other playlist events.

Love the feature though, just need this tweaking to make it sound PERFECT!

Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.6.5.8 RC4 Released!
Post by: Marius on May 27, 2014, 12:02:57 PM
The catch is that regular tracks are triggering the next item from the playlist at CUE NEXT point, but the playlist event doesn't have such a thing. So, the playing track reaches CUE NEXT, the event does what is suppose to do, but the next track waits for CUE NEXT, which doesn't exists. The playing track end and the watchdog forces the waiting track to start.

Now, there are two possible fixes for this:

1. I can add a PLAY action when the event is firing, but since the event is processed in a separate thread, for events with many actions (like loading many files), it could happen that the playlist will advance even if the event it's not completed modifying the playlist.

2. The user simply add a PLAY action at the end of each manual event and in this manner, the PLAY action will be fired at the right time.

I have a manual event that plays a news jingle then plays the NPR news internet stream. RDJ is freezing for one to two seconds before the NPR news is played. I also get the rotation error in Windows. This works fine in 1.6.5.7. Here is the event and the error. I am using XP 32 bit. I've tried changing the buffer options but it doesn't help.

Marius,

I've noticed in the latest Beta that when you have an overlay track playing on top of an instrumental bed when you hit Stop or Pause both of the tracks stop playing. In 1.6.5.7 and prior only the overlay track would stop. The backing track would continue to play. Is this a permanent change.

Marius,

I had noticed in this version, occasionally the next track seems to ignore the cue marks and the song would end with a couple of seconds of dear air before the next song would start. Then I caught something odd.  The ETA for the next track was the same time as the clock and kept pace with the clock second for second.  When the playing track ended there was a couple of seconds dead air before the next tract started.  When the track changed the next track was displaying the correct ETA and everything went back to normal.  Then later the same thing happened.  I have not figured out if it is on a set pattern or if it happens after certain events.

Normally the stop should stop all the main files which are playing. If i let to play the background track, you will not be able to stop it anymore.

Haven't seen anyone posting that many bugs. I've been testing the RC4 out all week and everything seems to be working OK on this end.

Think i need a rest this weekend  :hihi:

Unless anyone else has spotted anything I guess it's good to go for release!

How about this for a suggestion move this release up a few numbers and make it version 1.7.0?

OK a couple of issues has come up here with this release. 1) I noticed when playing some times the program will stall. What I mean is that it simply freezes in Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. None of the previous beta's have done this. I tried all troubleshooting steps and finally just replaced the entire install with everything. I have the latest version of SQL running. Not the beta stuff. Also, I noticed that while the stall is happening, I get in the title bar Loading Events . . . .  and not RadioDJ like I used to see. I have tried everything I can to get rid of this stall but it is not going away.

Hello Marius and friends,

As always great hard work, I am reporting the following for the RadioDJ RC4.

I have tried testing the RadioDJ V1.6.5.8 RC4, Everything was good, but a couple of days I have been watching it much closely. As of Wednesday 28, 2014 I started to see issues when playing times the program will stall, freezes, Program not Responding then I have to close the program.

I have been using Windows 8, with the 8.1 update ever since I tried the software.

I have tried the Track Rotation, usually after three tracks have played and then TTS come up with error messages..

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
