Post by: Marius on December 19, 2018, 04:25:04 PM
Time for the last release of the year. I want to wish everybody happy holidays and thank all our users and forum members making up our awesome community. We had a great year with a lot of accomplishments and i'm looking forward to see all the great stuff 2019 will bring.

Cheers!

Chages List:

- Fixed rotation editor bug which caused the deleted items to appear again (when using the keyboard delete key) [FIXED];
- Improved the database procedure code for AutoDJ;
- Minor bug fixes;

No database changes since latest beta, but if for any reason you see that tracks with diacritics are not correctly updated when they are played, you can try to update the database procedure. The new version sql file an be found in 2.0.1.4 topic.

Thanks Marius I'll do some testing over Christmas where possible.

I'll be off the Forums until the New year after this week...  My sanity demands I take a break from everything for a while  :bash:

Happy Christmas and a HNY to the Forum regulars you make this place what it is (even if we don't always agree)

See you In Jan 2019

P.S: Just seen the new splash screen... Very festive! :hihi:

Title: Bug: Special Character in Title causing database update problems
Post by: wmena on December 20, 2018, 01:41:06 AM
I have an interesting issue.  And I've noticed it on Beta 14 and 15.  Have not tested on any other version.

I have one song that when played, will not have its corresponding song table record data updated (dates, Count_played... etc).   I noticed the issue because I had one particular song that seemed to get played often.

So, using the search box up, I queried up 7 songs... one of them being the song with the problem.  One by one I drag them to the playlist, then play them.  Each one... as soon as play gets executed, gets their table data updated... except for this one song... "The Beatles - When I'm Sixty-Four".

Any ideas what might be causing it?  I deleted the song from the track manager and re-added it, but still nothing.  No errors in the error logs.

***** UPDATE *****

I found the root cause.  All of the songs that are problematic have a dash in the title.  But not a regular dash like this one:  '-' (which is hex 2d), but instead... this one '‐' (which is hex e28090).  That latter tag was obtained through ID3 tagging.

Try it yourself.  Add the second dash above to the end of one of your song titles and you'll see that any plays of that song will not update the database.

For now... this query fixed my data

Code: [Select]
update songs
set title = REPLACE(title,'‐','-')
where title like '%‐%'

I'm not sure yet if any other field in the songs table are affected by this issue.

***** UPDATE 2 *****

The issue seems to be related to Character Set / Collation.
I followed DJ Gary's install docs for MariaDB:  https://djgarybaldy.co.uk/maria-db-radiodj/

But... if you don't checkmark "Use UTF8 as server's default character set", then it installs as "latin1_swedish_ci".. which I understand is a single-byte character set.

I reinstalled MariaSQL using UTF8 and restored my data... everything seems to work now.

Thanks Marius, happy holidays to you too  :ok:
We have now time to test. I made a fresh new database, testing with v2.0.1.5 and I'll report in few days.
Title: SQL Rotation - Duplicate issue
Post by: wmena on December 21, 2018, 01:20:19 PM
I'm still having trouble with duplicates loading in my playlist using an SQL Rotation.

Specifically, dups show up any time I "CLEAR" the playlist queue, or run an event with a "Clear Playlist" command.  As the dup songs play, a new one is added to the playlist queue, this time different than what was already in there.

For testing purposes, I have 1 line in my rotation that runs the following SQL:

Code: [Select]
SELECT songs.ID, songs.artist,songs.title, queuelist.artist
FROM songs
LEFT JOIN queuelist ON ( songs.artist = queuelist.artist)
WHERE songs.id_subcat = 34
      AND songs.enabled = 1
      AND (MONTH(CURDATE()) = 12)
      AND (DAY(CURDATE()) >= 6)
      AND (DAY(CURDATE()) <= 31)
      AND $ForceRepeatRules$
      AND queuelist.artist IS NULL
ORDER BY date(artist_played),date(date_played),count_played LIMIT 1;
As an alternative, I've tried this also (replacing the LEFT JOIN) with a subselect

Code: [Select]
SELECT songs.ID, songs.artist, songs.title
FROM songs
WHERE songs.id_subcat = 34
      AND songs.enabled = 1
      AND (MONTH(CURDATE()) = 12)
      AND (DAY(CURDATE()) >= 6)
      AND (DAY(CURDATE()) <= 31)
      AND $ForceRepeatRules$
      AND songs.artist not in (select artist from queuelist)
ORDER BY date(artist_played), date(date_played), count_played LIMIT 1;

I don't think that query is the problem, as the rotation works fine when I let it run.

Thoughts?

*** UPDATE ***

I continued testing this.  The query works when testing.  And it works as RadioDJ is running. But, if I do a button "CLEAR" or a "Clear Playlist", the query does not work.
 It almost seems like the queuelist table is not updated during a clear.... so duplicate songs show up.

Several days v2.0.1.5 is playing non stop on a Win10 machine, with a new fresh db where I imported about 2300 tracks and some Jingles. I created two new rotations a News event and a SayTime event and they all work like a charm without issues.  :cool: Of course I didn't set intros and teasers, for that I will wait untill it will be possible and safe to import the old db from v1.8.2...

I have a few RadioDJ's playing but only one is v2.0.1.5 the others are v2.0.0.7 so it's kinda hard to know what instance these errors belong to. But looking at times the song played and the time the error occured I can pin point which it is.

This is happening on the 2.0.1.5 version:

Code: [Select]
Database Insert Error: Unknown column 'ETA' in 'field list' (TRUNCATE `queuelist`; INSERT INTO `queuelist` SET `songID` = '36715',ETA = NOW() + INTERVAL 135.4833125 SECOND, duration = 230.007256235828, `artist` = 'Raymond & Kim',`title` = 'Every Christmas With You',`album` = 'Every Christmas With You (Single)'; INSERT INTO `queuelist` SET `songID` = '36713',ETA = NOW() + INTERVAL 365.490568735827 SECOND, duration = 210.64525, `artist` = 'Larry Graig',`title` = 'No Greater Love',`album` = 'No Gretaer Love'; INSERT INTO `queuelist` SET `songID` = '34931',ETA = NOW() + INTERVAL 576.135818735828 SECOND, duration = 266.071451247165, `artist` = 'Timika Peterson, Few Chosen & Stereo',`title` = 'I\'ve Got A Feelin (Mommy\'s Song)',`album` = 'I Gotta Feelin\' (Mommy\'s Song) Single'; INSERT INTO `queuelist` SET `songID` = '11013',ETA = NOW() + INTERVAL 842.207269982993 SECOND, duration = 171.0833125, `artist` = 'Mandisa',`title` = 'What Christmas Means To Me',`album` = 'It\'s Christmas'; INSERT INTO `queuelist` SET `songID` = '11013',ETA = NOW() + INTERVAL 1013.29058248299 SECOND, duration = 171.0833125, `artist` = 'Mandisa',`title` = 'What Christmas Means To Me',`album` = 'It\'s Christmas'; )
Here is the queue/playlist with duplicate in it:

It appears that you didn't upgrade the database on the 2.0.1.5; the ETA field was recently added. That also explains the "double entries" in the playlist (track is placed in playlist, not in queuelist table, with next track queuelist is checked but the just added track is not found); I've had similar experience today because of another (vaguely related) issue.

My "production" machine is running 2.0.0.6, while my "working" machine is running 2.0.1.5. I've upgraded the database for that (shared database) and that normally shouldn't be a problem. HOWEVER there are 2 fields added in the queuelist (title and album) that gave me also a "double entries in the playlist" problem.

What happens is that the production machine (again: 2.0.0.6) tries to insert entries into the queuelist but it gets an error back because it can't insert them, since there weren't default values for the "title" and "album" fields. Since 2.0.0.6 doesn't have knowledge of these fields, the insert statement is without values for them, and MySQL refuses to insert lines without default values for "title" or "album". This could the cause of (some of) the other reports of double entries on the forum.

What you should do if you experience double entries in your playlist is check your eventlog and your queuelist table. If there are no entries in the queuelist table (or your eventlog is running full of "cannot insert or truncate queuelist" kind of messages) - it may be related to this.

For me, it was easily solved by giving both title and album fields in the queuelist table a default value (in my case I used "NULL").

Thanks for the info.

It seems a more step by step approach is needed to help many understand the proper way to do an update.

Many like myself will be using the database from a previous version.

Should we use a fresh install, import the earlier database then do the up date?

or

Should we install over the current system and then do a database update?

UPDATE:

I saw that I have an UpdateTracks procedure and also an UpdateTracks2 procedure so I made the suggested changes (artist=@tArtist and the title=@tTitle to artist=tArtist and title=tTitle) under the UpdateTracks procedure and it seems to no longer load duplicates. Now I see the additional fields in the queuelist database.

Marius has repeatedly stated that with v2.0.1.5 you should not use an old database, but a fresh install.

With the previous v2.0.0.4 I did the upgrade (like you have done), but even after the UpdateTracks2 procedure the duplicates always happen  :(

With the previous v2.0.0.4 I did the upgrade (like you have done), but even after the UpdateTracks2 procedure the duplicates always happen  :(

I made the changes on the UpdateTracks procedure. However, it has @tArtist and not @curArtist. This seems to be working very well for me.

The UpdateTracks2 procedure has the correct code/look according to what Marius posted.

Also, how would one maintain all of the events, categories, sub categories and the likes when updating without using the most current database backup from the previous system?

I did do a fresh install, then imported the most current backup and got my problems.

My problem was solved once I did the same change mentioned for artist=@curArtist and title=@curTitle

I did the same to artist=@tArtist and title=@tTitle

I removed the @ character.

True; personally I think the update process for RDJ could be better, because now you have to do the enabling/disabling of plugins (i.e. the moving of plugins), settings and database upgrade yourself. But for me it just takes time and I can cope with it. I can imagine for quite a number of users it is a pain.

Many like myself will be using the database from a previous version.

I've seen the reaction that Marius stated to start with a fresh database with a new version. I can imagine that, and I do it for testing purposes. If you really want to use a version, that's not an option though: 20k tracks in WAV with attached album art and cue points in it... don't use filetags on it so you have to do it all again. A number of rotations creating again? No thanks either.

So it's not always an option to start from a new database.

Should we use a fresh install, import the earlier database then do the up date?
or
Should we install over the current system and then do a database update?

I would test with fresh databases and a subset of your files and rotations. When it works, copy your database to a new one and upgrade that. I prefer to do that step by step to see if every part of the update works. When done, compare the database structure to the database you've used for test to double check that the upgrade went as expected.

Yes, quite a lot of work, but it prevents strange results.

@Marius: Maybe an option to put a field somewhere in the database that the RDJ client reads out with a database version number? So RDJ would do a "select rdj_db_version from table xx" and if the version is lower as the needed version it'd give a warning?

It seems to me a very good advice to Marius.

As far as the rest of your post is concerned, just one point I want to focalize: there are users (like me) that have spent not days, not months, but years to set Intro, Hook In and Out and I personally would never start that job again. It's not difficult to remake 10 rotations or 50 events from scratch, but Intros definitely NO! That's why I need a secure step to upgrade (from my 1.8.2). I'm still testing 2.0.1.5: nothing bad to report.

That is exactly my point: some people may say that you'd put the cuepoint info and attached album art into the file as tags, but with WAV files, that's a disaster, so you don't want to do that.

I think I may have found a bug.

Whenever I use the Newest From Folder, it works fine the first time when fired from an event, then the next time is does nothing. When I open the Track Editor, the Path line to the folder is empty.

I did not find anything new in the RDJ logs nor is there any errors in the Windows log.

I use Mp3Tag to get album covers. Before importing tracks into radiodj I edit tracks with Mp3Tag and search for covers, then save. When you import those tracks radiodj will show covers in the upper left windows near title and artist, but this is just for fun. To show my covers into the player I use a player from Azoto Solution which does the job no matter if I have loaded a cover or not into radiodj...

2.0.1.5 Beta/Win 10/MariaDB - Fresh Install and build with Options Keep in playlist set at "0"

Running for over 10 days now and used this version over Christmas with programing events to switch to holiday music, special jingles, features and such all with events for setting up special rotations and then changed everything back to regular station jingles and music after Boxing Day.  Everything was smooth with no hiccups and the best part.........Nothing in the Error Logs  :cool:

Thanks Marius.

Title: RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 BETA Released! - errors
Post by: chrismadog on January 08, 2019, 12:50:12 AM
Hi Marius,

I've been running RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 on my server as a second task (with it's own database replicated from v1.8.2) using the second sound card since the 3rd January.

It was doing fine until this morning. It was unresponsive with no songs in the playlist. Apparently (I was told) it had an error saying it had no rotation set.
This is an error I have also seen sometimes on v2.0.0.6f.
On the 3rd January I deleted all rotations and made them again. I checked them as I did them as well.
The smallest number of tracks in any rotation is in excess of 800 tracks with a no-repeat of 360 minutes (3 hrs). The rotation that was scheduled was 80s&90s with well over 3000 tracks yet it was saying "No rotation set" - or something like that.

Looking at the Logs directory - The exception log says;
Log starts:

Hey Chris, do you export the data to some web sites? I ask this because i think that the error comes from there, but it has nothing to do with the rotation.
Normally when exports the data to a server it expects a response, but i also witnessed a few times when the server didn't responded. That's nothing to worry about, because the program doesn't rely on that response, it will just log the problem.

If you say that the error was that you didn't had no rotation set, for some reason no rotation was loaded. Do you load the rotations manually, or are you using events, rest or some custom methods?
Title: Re: RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 BETA Released!

Hi Marius,

I don't export the data anywhere. I should - do a backup that is, LOL.
If it is logging a problem, maybe I need to investigate further and find out what it is trying to talk to.

Rotations - set by events. Each show is about 3 hrs and so every three hours I change the rotations to deliver the genre of music as appropriate.
Evidently, it is every Tuesday at 7am when it fails. I've changed the rotation, rebuilt the rotation and sworn at it - all to no avail. It says No rotation is set and sits there just serving sponsorships (Ads) and community messages every 15 minutes. At 9am and it loads another rotation, clears the playlist, loads the news including intros, outros etc and away it goes again working just fine.
The rotation used at 7am is used at other times too without any apparent problems.

I'm very puzzled as to what is going on.

Kind regards,
Chris

I have a few observations, but some of them (probably) relate to earlier versions as well (Im quite new to RadioDJ), so maybe they have already been discussed somewhere

1. When synchronizing/adding tracks to the database via the Folder Sync plugin, the newly added tracks get the priority 0 (in spite that 50 is set in the program settings as the default priority). I think that the setting should be respected.

2. It seems that the Tag Synchronization does not work from Tags to Database. I have edited tags in a few files (added albums names, years, corrected typos in track names), but when running the synchronization, the tracks did not update in the database. When I clicked ID Read in the Track Edit window, they did update. Am I doing something wrong? Is there any other way to update the database with updated tags? (I tried to reimport the entire folder, but I was getting the "file already exists" message and the tag info was not updated (and I dont want to empty the subcategory).) This issue occurs also in 2.0.0.6.

3. I constantly (everytime the respective subcategory is being added to the queue) receive the error in the event log "AutoDJ Error: Missing results for subcategory: Heavy Rotation. Subcategory was reset, but this can cause to play the tracks without respecting the repeat rules! Please import more tracks, or lower the repeat rules values." I have only about 40 songs the the Heavy Rotation subcategory, which, of course, is not enough for the default rotation rules, so the Heavy Rotation subcategory has overriden rotation rules values of 360, 120, 180 and 180 minutes, respectively. The Repeat Rules box in the rotation line is checked (I assume that if it is not chcecked, neither default, nor overriden values would be respected). The error is thrown both in case of the Least Recently played and Random selection mode. That subcategory is played once in 15 songs, so 40 songs are enough for about 35 hours, which is much more than 6 hours in the overriden repeat rule. When I click Edit in the rotation line, I see that "19 tracks available using these rules" (I would understand the error if 0 tracks would be available). I have the Reset Subcategories box checked, because when it was not checked, the program stopped serving from that subcategory. Anyway, Im not sure what exactly "reset subcategories" does, because the playtimes are not reset in spite that the error says that the subcategory was reset. However, I think that this is a bug and it seems that the program simply does not consider overriden values, but tries to apply the default ones. This issue does not occur in 2.0.0.6.

4. Is the Smart Event Interval function still not working? If it is not, I think that the information should be communicated not only via the forum, but also directly in the program, e.g. the respective setting should be disabled in the Settings > AutoDJ window or a text like "not working now" added after "seconds".

I have one more thing, which has a "feature request" nature, but because it relates to the new way of populating the playlist queue in the Auto DJ mode, Im writing it here.

Currently, when a song is deleted from the the playlist queue, a new song is added to the end of the queue from the next line in the rotation (the same as when a new song starts to play). However, a more preferable behaviour for me would be, if the newly added song is not added at the end, but at the position of the deleted song, and moreover, from the same line of the rotation as the deleted song.

Example: A simple rotation of 6 lines - Powerplay, 80s, 00s, 70s, 10s, 90s. The default ten songs in the queue and 70s is the last. After an 80s song is deleted from the postion 2, a 10s song is added to the end of the queue. But I prefer that an 80s song be inserted to the postion 2.

Of course, there are users who prefer the current behaviour, so both ways should be possible. It could be done in several ways:
1. an option somewhere in settings, but it is not optimal, because the same user may want to use both methods alternately as appropriate
2. two Delete buttons, one for each behaviour, but it is not optimal either, because two red crosses would be misleading
3. clicking the red cross for one behaviour and Ctrl+clicking for the other behaviour, but it would not be optimal for touchscreens
4. (my favourite option) the confirmation dialog would have 3 buttons like "Yes, new here", "Yes, new down" and "Cancel" (when the Auto DJ mode is turned off, the current confirmation dialog would appear)
5. some other way

I know that the program whould have to remember from which rotation line each song was added so that it knows from which line to add the new song, for cases like when a song is manually moved in the queue and then deleted, but I think that Im not the only one who would enjoy this proposed behaviour.

Time for the last release of the year. I want to wish everybody happy holidays and thank all our users and forum members making up our awesome community. We had a great year with a lot of accomplishments and i'm looking forward to see all the great stuff 2019 will bring.

Cheers!

Chages List:

- Fixed rotation editor bug which caused the deleted items to appear again (when using the keyboard delete key) [FIXED];
- Improved the database procedure code for AutoDJ;
- Minor bug fixes;

No database changes since latest beta, but if for any reason you see that tracks with diacritics are not correctly updated when they are played, you can try to update the database procedure. The new version sql file an be found in 2.0.1.4 topic.

Marius, i can't use Teasers in this version.
Any idea, all setting is OK from track type and teaser plugin.
For the first i can't see Teaser in "any category" so i add manual.
But it didn't work at all.

any clue? Thx

Win 10/Maria DB Fresh Install RadioDJ V2.0.1.5 Beta.

Still humming along nicely since December 23rd 24/7 with no errors and as before all events, rotations, and playlists changing and updating as they should.
Your mileage may vary.  I don't use File Sync (I use Directory import when new files are put into their categories and set to only import NEW files) and I have not used any SQL Queries.

Thanks Marius. :cool:

Marius,

I'm noticing that when playing a track that "Song Details" takes about 5 seconds to update. I've noticed a bit of sluggishness in other areas too (such as in "Search" in finding tracks) but this Song Details updating really stands out.
It used to have a delay of about 1/2 a second which was ok.

Kind regards,
Chris

Marius,

IMPORTANT Problem.

I have v2.006f on the main server and the secondary server is running v2.0.1.5
On v2.0.1.5 I am seeing a problem where a rotation is set, AUTODJ/MANUAL is on, AUTO is on, but nothing is being pulled up on rotation.

I can change rotations to no avail. Nothing. I can toggle AUTODJ and AUTO/ASSISTED - no difference.
If an event inserts Ads (Sponsorships) and station ID's or  then they will play perfectly. If I insert a song manually into the playlist, it will play perfectly.
Iy just won't insert songs from the rotation.

I have thousands of songs available and I do't have it not playing from the same artist - only tracknames cannot be played for 180 minutes.

The only way I've found to get it running properly again is to close it down and start it up again and then it runs for some random time and stops again. It can work OK for days and then fail twice or three times in one day.

Very odd.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Marius,
The Event logging wasn't turned on so I have since turned it on and waiting for it to fail again to see what happens.

I have noted some problems you may have an idea on though.

17 Jan 2019 19:25:59
An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine   at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.Receive(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size, SocketFlags socketFlags)
   at System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream.Read(Byte[] buffer, Int32 offset, Int32 size)

I think you may have seen this pne before ?
I have no idea why RadioDJ would have any connections elsewhere or why other software would be causing this.
It really doesn't make sense to me.

I will get back to you regarding log entries I can send you when it fails again.

What event category in windows does it write a log to ?

Best Regards,
chris

Thanks Chris. The only network implementation is in the Now Playing Info plugin. I will check it again, maybe for some reason it ignores the enable setting, otherwise i cannot explain the error. But even so, this cannot interfere with the rotation in any way.
Will get back.

Thanks Marius,

I was running v1.8.2.0 overnight (I'm running v2.0.1.5 during the day when presenters are running live) and it came up possibly with a clue - ?? - dunno. Just a guess.

It came up with an error as per attachments.
(The .png file has the error window.)

Suggestion: A plugin you send to selected beta testers that sends a copy of any errors straight to you. Not to be released otherwise and only with the express agreement of those people. ? May work ? You could even give it an expiry date or some way to invalidate it with official releases. You would probably have a better idea how to implement that than I would. :)

Best regards,
Chris

Still getting this error and not sure why. It hits and misses. It's preventing me from updating my now playing display, Twitter and TuneIn
Got it in v2.0.1.3 and I'm using v2.0.1.5 fresh install, restored a db and did the updates.

Hey Brodephat, the plugin sends data to the destinations from your list and if for some reason the target server it doesn't respond, it logs the error.
From my tests, i saw servers that receive the data without problems, but they don't always send back any response. This is nothing new, the only change is that in the betas this error is logged and in the older versions wasn't. This should not be a problem, since the plugin is set to wait up to 3 seconds for the answer and then no matter what, to continue.
Title: Re: RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 BETA Released!
Post by: Brodephat on January 20, 2019, 11:38:06 AM
Ah I see, so what type of response should the server return and is there a way I can test the response (separate from RadioDJ) to see what it gives?

Also, should the Windows firewall be set to allow RadioDJ to receive an input?

In my case some songs post and some don't.
Title: Re: RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 BETA Released!
Post by: Marius on January 21, 2019, 10:13:44 AM
As far as i know, the server should return 200 OK (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Status/200) code for succes, but any returned code will prevent RadioDJ to log that specific error.

Hi,

With over 27.000 tracks in my database, I would expect RadioDJ to select different tracks when I press the 'Clear' button but most of the time the same artists/songs appear. Also when I delete one track, it re-appears at the end of the playlist. I looked in the database but obviously there are no stored procedures there... I think there is something wrong with the randomizer in the selection of tracks for the playlist.

How is your rotation built? If you use things like "longest time not played" or "least played" it's very logical that this happens.
Title: Re: RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 BETA Released!
Post by: Marius on January 23, 2019, 11:41:00 AM
Hey AdrianHondema, this is not like winamp shuffle function. If you setup a rule, the program will follow it.
To better visualize what it happens, let's take the "least recently played" rotation rule. With this you tell MySQL to return the track with the least recent date in the "date_played" column. It's like sorting all your songs based by the "date_played" column and pick the one with the lower value.
Now indeed, MySQL has some mysteries, like for example if all the dates are equal (so no ordering is possible), it will still have a order in which will pickup the results, but that is more database related, than about RadioDJ.
Some users are also adding one or more random selections to the rotation to break this pattern.
Title: Re: RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 BETA Released!
Post by: shorty.xs on January 23, 2019, 03:50:37 PM
Furthermore, if you started from the scratch and build a new database, alle files will have the same playcount and all have no playdata.
So starting with some pure random pattern could be a good practice.

This is exactly the reason why I asked how to upgrade the database from previous beta releases, because I have playcounts and last time play filled quite good. So I use a mixture of least times played, least recently played and random.
For the least times played, new imported songs will rotate much more often. Propobably something you want for some oldie gold nuggets you just added or the newset hottes stuff from the charts, that you want for heavy rotation.

Today I called the pc at 5:00 pm after it was disconnected since yesterday at 8:30 p.m.
happens that radiodj called with today's date but the rotations of the songs the rotation from 20h to 23h or he did not assume the rotation at the time of calling took over the rotation from yesterday to when it turned off
please review this situation in the database so that it resumes at the current time and with the rotations of the songs for the time of reissue
Thank you

RadioDJ keeps suprising me! Awesome!

Make a combination of at least "random" and "least times played", otherwise, in the end, you'll turn up having the same rotation again.

Hi Marius,
I was looking at the screen capture I took with 'Snipping Tool' of the problem below and I've been thinking about what can be happening to make it do what it is doing.
It is exactly like AUTODJ is turned off even though it says it is on (green). AUTOMATED is tuned on of course so any track poked in there with AUTODJ not working will do precisely like I described.

One of the things I do is to change the rotation in an event and then clear the playlist straight after it, also in the event, so it rebuilds the playlist with the new rotation.

chris

I FINALLY figured out how to resolve the rotation problem I was having with version 2.0.1.2.

On Sundays, I play all 70's music. Since I have all of my 70's titles in one file, I was having problems with songs repeating back to back.

To resolve the problem, I changed the setting on every other song from least played to random. I have been running with this set up all day and have yet to have the same song back to back.

Otherwise, I've been running v2.0.1.2 since Marius released that version back in November, 2018, and have had no problems, other than the one I mentioned above.

I LOVE Radio DJ! :cool:

I noticed that even if the RadioDJ is set as a remote instance (I see the events disabled message down on the right), the play times get updated in the database.
This happens also in 2.0.1.4, but it is OK (not updating) in 2.0.0.6.
Title: AutoDJ Issue
Post by: Sphag on January 29, 2019, 09:49:19 PM
Found issue with new AutoDJ:

In older versions if there were multiple tracks with the same priority, AutoDJ would choose them equally likely with the "By Priority" option.
New AutoDJ seems to "prefer" certain track over others even if they have the exact same priority.
My rotation has multiple tracks with priority value 100, so i can choose from them randomly with "By Priority" option, and i can use "Random" to choose from the entire category randomly including all priority levels. But now the "By Priority" option delivers the exact same tracks always in the same order (after the "Don't play same track for.." setting lets it pick the track again), and never even tries to play more than half of the songs with priority 100.
Title: Re: RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 BETA Released!
Post by: plauri on January 30, 2019, 12:20:22 AM
I never changed "priority tracks", always left to default=50 both here and in previous versions. A friend of mine used to change priority but didn't notice any difference, so I kept on without spending too much time on this feature.
Title: Re: RadioDJ v2.0.1.5 BETA Released!
Post by: Sphag on January 30, 2019, 09:18:14 AM
I use 2 different priority values: 1 and 100. This lets me divide a category, and I can play the prioritized tracks a bit more.
But now my entire rotation is a mess, AutoDJ keep on picking the same tracks always. You can try it with any priority value, if you tell AutoDJ in the rotation rules to choose by priority, it will always pick the same track after it can pick it again.

Win10/MariaDB/2.0.1.5 Beta
A weird problem with the system tray RadioDJ Icon happened this fine morning.  It just disappeared. :huh:   It was all running fine for well over a month but I couldn't open it up (The Program interface)this morning to do anything as I set allow only one instance and had to end the process with Task Manager and quickly reboot system and all is good again.  My Option that I set are..... - Allow only One Instance - Minimize to the system Tray and Store Settings in Database.

Otherwise pretty impressed for over a month 24/7 with a beta. ;)

I understood what did you wrote, but the plugin playlist builder settings weren't available in the other releases.

I have a problem with the SayTime plugin. I successfully set up the plugin to announce the time every 00th and 30th minute, but after a couple of days (3-4) the plugin stops anouncing - when the event timer countdown comes to zero, nothing sounds (nor the music volume is partially muted). The same happens (no annoucement) when I manually click the Saytime button. After restarting RadioDJ it works again. The error in the event viewer is Invalid data.

I've run this in the background on both servers for quite a while.

I run it on my laptop (Acer, Core2 duo 2.3GHz, 8GB) in manual for my shows and it has frozen a couple of times - I've had to reboot the machine to get it running again - it hasn't done that in several weeks now so possibly a windows problem.

One server (HP, 4core Xenon, 16GB RAM) - it just stops as previously reported.
v2.0.0.6f has no problems at all, likewise v1.8.2.0

The other server (i5, 8GB RAM) hasn't blinked for about 4 weeks. Still going strong.

I have also found some album art PNG and JPG pics don't import and throw up an exception error. Are you aware of that ?
If I use Windows 3D paint to resave them, they are fine. just a PITB is all. LOL

Kind regards,
Chris

I've found an oddity that wasn't occurring in 2.0.0.6 and previous versions. I have events built where it plays a song then starts a cart to play a liner over the beginning of the song. As long as the song was first in the event it would lower the volume of the song until the cart was finished playing. In the beta version the song volume doesn't lower while the cart is playing. The mixer settings don't seem to have any effect. The only way to get the song volume to lower is to put a "Seconds to Wait" command (1 sec works) before the Play Cart command. However this doesn't sound as good as having the song and cart start at the same time.

Unfortunately I still get this error from time to time (many times a day every day) and when it happens there is no update to the nowplaying.php files which means Twitter is not updated and TuneIn is not updated. Just not sure why it still happening and it happens on 2 different hosting companies.

Fresh install of 2015beta with MariaDB

at the time which that error is happening, your web hosting server log files should be examined to determine if the request being sent from rdj is being received or if it is not getting outside your local area network, or if it arrives at your webserver, but the webserver throws an error and rdj can't determine if it was processed properly, so it returns an error.

you need to do some investigative work. if it is happening with 2 diff hosts, maybe it's an internet connection error on your side?

Time for the last release of the year. I want to wish everybody happy holidays and thank all our users and forum members making up our awesome community. We had a great year with a lot of accomplishments and i'm looking forward to see all the great stuff 2019 will bring.

Cheers!

- Fixed rotation editor bug which caused the deleted items to appear again (when using the keyboard delete key) [FIXED];
- Improved the database procedure code for AutoDJ;
- Minor bug fixes;

No database changes since latest beta, but if for any reason you see that tracks with diacritics are not correctly updated when they are played, you can try to update the database procedure. The new version sql file an be found in 2.0.1.4 topic.

Hi Marius we have a little problem.

We've recently setup RadioDJ 2.0.1.5 beta on our main playout PC things seemed to be going fine until last week when we noticed it wasn't running as smooth as it should, it appears to be repeating songs/tracks by the same artist, we had 3 instances of the same track (e.g Southlanders - Mole in a hole) in the playlist multiple times and the rotation also now appears to be ignoring "track from request" entries in the rotation.

Updatetracks2 is correct and present. The Artist/Title repeat rules haven't changed since forever although I did try another setting and that made little difference..
We've uninstalled and reinstalled MariaDB but I don't think that's the culprit.

The only message I can see in event viewer is related to RadioDJ saying there are no tracks in the request list when there were/are tracks requested.
Its all rather strange especially when there are no clues to go on.
We've repaired and optimised several times.

anyone, any clue to re-enable all database in "not found" with shortcuts (run events, etc)?

You can re-enable tracks by using a sql query.
For not found tracks:
Code: [Select]
UPDATE songs SET enabled=1 WHERE enabled=-1;For all tracks:
Code: [Select]
UPDATE songs SET enabled=1;

I have the exact same thing going on. The first two tracks in the queue are repeated at the end of the queue. Never dealt with this when running older versions.

Hi
I've got more and more often this message appearing randomly just before launching an scheduled an event (see capture)

sometimes a lot of popups appears (+20) and no events are launched after ,  sometimes autodj stop adding tracks and then radio becomes silent , I have to restart RDJ.
I'm scheduling most of time SQL requests with procedures inside.

I have more than 40 000 tracks , that is not a rules problem.

I can give more detail if needed
thanks to investigate.
