Title: Play voice with bed
Post by: fecokam7 on June 25, 2014, 09:10:48 PM
Is anybody know how can i play loops automatically under voice tracks?

Our partner send the news and weather files and i need to play the station's news and weather bed under these voices.
Do you know any solution for my problem?

Thanks.

Automated? I don't know.. Anyone?

Manually: you could use a cartplayer in Loop-mode: set Loop In and Loop Out cuepoints, load the track in a cart and press the Loop-icon before playing it.

Automatically, of course :)

Well, if you know the length beforehand, you should be able to make a bed and set the voicetrack as VT.
If you want it automated, you could create a bed with xx seconds in length and set the 'Next' Cuepoint right at the start of this bed. If you insert the voicetrack right after the bed, it should be played on top of the bed.
If the VT is longer than the bed, the bed will still be playing when the track after that starts..

I'm not sure how to otherwise automate it, perhaps somebody knows a way of doing it with the aux-players (load VT in aux1, the bed in aux2, play both, wait for aux1 to finish, stop aux2 and Play Next?)

Sorry to be bumping an old thread but if you create an audio file with the designated length that you would like it you could always set the next start cue right at the beginning and then end at the end and the next track will be overlaid hope this helps.

Problem with this approach is that when the bed is a minute longer than the voicetrack, the voicetrack will end, starting a new song, while the bed is still playing for about a minute. I haven't had the luck of finding a way to play for example a news-voicefile over a bed, with the bed ending when the news ends.

Here's my event that does what you are trying to do. It plays a three minute news broadcast with a four minute bed underneath. It then plays a jingle timed to play at the end of the news. Both the news and the bed end when the jingle begins. The only way it works is to configure it as a manual event and build a rotation with that event in it. You can either manually add it to the playlist or build an event that changes to that rotation. Hope this helps.

I now have an automated news-download every hour with a newsbed that can play to up to 4 minutes. The news is always between 1:25-2:00. There is no way to tell beforehand how long the news will be, it entirely depends on the reader.

With your event, I'd have to enter the seconds-to-wait, which I simply cannot know. Also, when leacing the studio and letting RadioDJ play on auto, we're going to have s lots of laughs because the newsbed will play underneath the next couple of jingles.

Isn't there any way to let RadioDJ stop the background-track (or perhaps stop AUX x) when the VDF ends?

Currently loops will not work for overlay files, however if you know that the news will not be more than 4 minutes, in a sound editor you can easily loop the file and save it to the required length.

After that is really simple:
To the bed, put the cue next where the speech should begin, import the speech (news) file as VDF and set it as overlay. Add the files to the playlist in this order:
1. Bed
2. Speech (news)
3. Ending jingle

When the speech file will end, will start the ending (which shouldn't be set as overlay) and the bed will be stopped.

Ok, so I have a news bed with an intro, the Next-cuepoint is right after the intro, when the bed fades to a lower volume and the speech should begin.

Now how do I insert the speech as an overlay for this file using events?

The news-speechfile is a VDF; what track type should the newsbed be? I cannot add any file as overlay..

So I fiddled around a bit and found that I misunderstood what Marius explained:

Make a bed. Music that plays in the background, with or without an introduction. Set the Next-cuepoint right where your voicetrack should begin.
Then your voicetrack: when you have a newsfile like me, which differs in time every time, import it as being a Variable Duration File and check 'Play as Overlay'.

Then, using an event or manually:

- Add the bed to the playlist
- Add the voicetrack to the playlist

Play!

When the voicetrack ends, the bed also ends and the next regular track begins to play.

wow!  :ok:
