The first version for this year is ready to be tested. ;D
Changes:
- Added tabs order save [NEW];
- Added new rotation entry type "Tracks From SQL Query" which allows you to manually add rules to the rotation. The query must return the track ID(s) [NEW];
- Added option to set default image when no album art is set for tracks. Put a .jpg file in your album art folder and name it "no_cover_image.jpg". [NEW];
- Removed the tray info window.
- Updated the plugin interface. Added new sub procedure named "Closing()" to the plugins which is called when the program closes. [NEW];
- Updated to the newest BASS sound engine.
- Minor bug fixes.
HOW TO UPDATE FROM THE LATEST VERSION v1.7.6:
A. FILE UPDATE PROCEDURE:
METHOD 1
1. Replace ALL .dll files with the new ones (including bass ones);
2. Replace RadioDJ.exe with the new one;
3. Add "settings_tabs.xml" to the main folder of RadioDJ;
METHOD 2
1. Unzip the new version somewhere on your HDD;
2. Delete from the new package the settings files (they are named like settings_XXXXX.xml);
3. Copy all files from the new package over your old files in order to overwrite them;
ALTERNATE METHOD 3
1. Replace all the files with the new ones;
2. Customize the settings for the program/plugins;
B. DATABASE UPDATE PROCEDURE
Backup your database before anything!
1. Open "Database Setup.exe" (located in Setup folder);
2. Select "Database Utils" tab and press "SELECT UPDATE FILE" button;
3. Select "1.7.7 UPDATE FROM 1.7.6.sql" from Sql folder. (Usually: RadioDJ\Setup\Sql);
4. Confirm the action and you're done.
The database update step is very important, without it the program will crash!
IMPORTANT: Since this version is using newer bass version, old third party plugins (including some encoder) will not work until their authors will update them.
An alternative to the some encoder plugin for RadioDJ can be tested here. (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=6689)
Ok, at least, far out, its groofy man..... :D
I love it....
Jh.
Thanks Marius, now I can test over the weekend.
Cheers
For DSP plugin users, i wrote a small plugin since i didn't had any news from SnowHow for a while.

When upgrading, I get this error on start (after the flash-screen):
\bass_plugins\bassflac.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try reinstalling the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.
- Rogier
Apparently, this happens on ALL bass-DLL's. Running on Windows 7 x64.
- Rogier
Also, Auto-DJ isn't loading tracks in the queue.. Not sure if it has something to do with the bass-plugins not loading..
- Rogier
That's new :)
Did you replaced all the files?
If the bass plugin are not loading, it's normal that the tracks will not play. As a test, download the archive as it is and test it with a new database and if everything is fine proceed to the update process.
Funny - installing a fresh install with the current database doesn't give me the bass-errors. Tracks dragged manually in the queue play (as they did with the other installation). But AutoDJ still doesn't load tracks into the queue. I have selected the proper rotation but nothing happens.
- Rogier
Well, apparently, the issue was with one ore more older plugins. After renaming the plugins-folder and copying a fresh one, RadioDJ doesn't crash.
A few questions:
1. Is it possible for a 1.7.6-version to fully operate on the 1.7.7-database?
2. What about the Teaser-plugin? :hihi:
- Rogier
My default rotation was blank even though it was showing up in the upper right hand corner. I had to rebuild it. After that it started loading songs. All my other rotations are ok.

1. Yes, it should fully work.
2. The plugin is updated for this version (disabled plugins).

I have tryed method one and two replaced all the file's Saved the XML files but radiodj does not load AUTODJ
Hello
I have the 1.7.6.0 version installed and the auto update method update does not assimilate any update says Radio Dj is up to date
What is the method to utilisar was not supposed to do auto update ??

It is not available in auto update because it needs a database update also. Please follow the instructions from the first post.

Hi Marius, used Method 1 on Win7 64bit replacing all indicated .exe, dll's, plugins, dll's from bass folder and the xml settings tab installed and then updated Database and everything back up and running. Grabbing a coffee and going to kick the tires. :cool:
Edit: Also love the new DSP option.
Sent you some (cough) Beer
Cheers
Updated using Method 2, updated the database, Installed the NEW DSP Plugin for radioDJ, threw in a few DSP Plugins and it is up and running. So far no issues on the test machine. I even fired up 1.7.6 on the 1.7.7 database update and it was still happy too. :D Way to go Marius. I will test for a few days before adding to my production machine. It may just be my aging ears, but given the same setting for both versions, the new version doesn't sound as full (bass) as the previous version.
Running like a champ here. Glad I seen the update the DB before I relaunched. Marius you did some work on the splash screen too. Nicely done my friend. Keep it up.

Does this include the some encoder plugin?
@Vanlen: so it was you! Thank you very much! :)
@cashaber: Yes, that includes all plugins that were made by other users than me.
Working great!
Method 1/2
nice the new start screen image :)
First i didnt see the plugins requests and notes etc... But then i replaced them too with the disable plugins in RadioDJv1.7.7/radiodj then when i started radiodj again it was there! :D
Running like a charm,
but Marius we still cant see the option to play the top 10 count songs :(
One thing that's been preventing us from using RadioDJ is that tracks can only belong to one category, so for us the "Tracks From SQL Query" is a fantastic addition, as hopefully now with a bit of playing with SQL we should be able to pick tracks from Playlists (similar to SAM) instead of Categories.
One thing that appears to be slightly glitchy is the Sweeper setting when choosing "Tracks From SQL Query" in the Rotation window. No matter what you choose, the setting changes to "Without", but seems to add an Intro sweeper anyway.
Other than that I've had no problems with the upgrade. Thanks for this update Marius :-)
Thanks for reporting it beavis. I will check it.
Quotebut Marius we still cant see the option to play the top 10 count songs :(
Marius i noticed by ur response in other post its possible by using options->track rotations selecting track from sql query and insertin the code :) i gonna tri as son as possible :ok:
QuoteUpdated to the newest BASS sound engine.
In RDJ 1.7.7 bass version is 2.4.10 but on un4seen lastest is 2.4.11 also for bass_fx ..
So all of my plugins no longer work. I didn't find out until the end of this thread that all the plugins would not work. Why was there no warning of this in the first place? Now I have a nice program but no way to broadcast since I can't even use the encoder plugin now. What's the point?
Also it's funny how in the update instructions, Step B is apparently something you're supposed to do before Step A... nice, thanks for the heads up... :bash:
I am getting Artist repeats with the new version. I have the Artist field set at 360. It played the same Artist twice within an hour. The first was using a normal rotation, the second was using an event. Both have the Repeat Rules checked. This did not happen in 1.7.6.
John
Did you remember to update the database???
Yes, I did the database update. I'm also having issues where the instant players sometimes work, sometimes not when using them in events. I'm not seeing any errors in the Windows log.
John
Did you follow the update process to a Tee? I think you must have missed something.
I did Method 1 followed by the database update. I redid it when I started having issues. I then did Method 3 to try it with a fresh install.

Well, I had this issue in v 1.7.6 also :)
I'm trying this new version now and I'll check if it happents.
Also, Marius I have a issue with requests plugin. It ignores the repeat rules of artists and songs I set in wordpress. The same user was able to request the same song twice at a one minute difference, and RDJ broadcasted it twice.

Problem here is in the plugin: it looks for played artists. So if one user requests a song, it's being placed into the queue. When the track isn't played yet, anybody can request the same track, because it hasn't been played yet (which is true).
When the first song is being played, only
then people can't request the song again, but the second request is still in the queue, so RadioDJ plays it a second time.
- Rogier
Still sounds like you skipped a step or something. Because everyone else is having zero issues. I was able to follow things correctly. You might have not copied some file over One of the XML files. It is a bugger to get them all but that could also be the issue. Since everything is working then no need no need to belittle the problem.

John
If this was the first time I did an update I could see that I may have skipped something but I've done this enough times that I think I have the routine down. Anyway, after doing a fresh install, another DB update and an optimize DB I didn't get any artist repeats after about two hours of testing. I will try it again today.
John
We haven't updated to 1.7.7 yet, mainly because some of the plugins we use won't work with this new version. Otherwise, on a test-computer, everything works just fine like it should.
- Rogier
It still sounds like you either did not copy over something or you overwrote something that you should not have. I did the same update as you and yet to have any issues what so ever. I am not saying you missed a step but I know as many times I have done this already it can be simple and easy for me to miss a step some times. It is not a huge issue. I know that when I first started and Marius and Gary and others will tell you that I was not the best either. I skipped around thinking I was the pro and did not need help. Boy was I wrong. Just take a short look at your setup and go over it slowly and make sure ever I is dotted.

It's certainly possible I missed something but I'm more inclined to believe that something got corrupted during the DB update. When I first opened RDJ after the update my default rotation was completely empty. The rotation name was still there but there was nothing in it. All other rotations were ok. Instead of completely deleting it and building it from scratch I just added the items back into it. That's when I started getting repeated artists. I then deleted the rotation and rebuilt it. Since then it seems to be ok.
John
yep your DB was corrupted. You must have missed the most important step of BACKING UP! I know I did before the update. That is why Marius put that in there. I was ready with several backups if I needed them.
The odd thing was I copied the 1.7.6 files back over top of the 1.7.7 files and everything worked fine without any artist repeats. I then did a fresh install of 1.7.7 into its own directory and started getting repeats until I deleted and rebuilt the rotation. Strange.
John
Yep the DB was corrupted. I would take my time next time and follow marius's steps verbatim. That is why It gets issues like this.
Thank you, its working fine by me.
only in "playlist builder" the querty isnt working.
greets Onno
Thanks Marius
as always, it works great for me... :ok:
thanks marius...
@ Marius, I found a new error in the search plugin. Since we work with RDJ in live mode, we tend to press duration to order songs by duration. The problem is that since the last version, when we press duration, RDJ sorts the songs by name, and duration is ignored totally. I hope this gets fixed soon.
In the mean time, I will try to replace the search plugin with the previous one and hope it works as it should.
[attachment deleted by admin]
Here is the fixed version. :)
I forgot to mention that the new version will order all the results from the database by the column and not only the displayed items. Exception on this is the INTRO column which will behave as it was in previous versions.
LATER:
Ok, i attached the version which fixes both duration and intro order.
[attachment deleted by admin]
Thank you Marius.
You are a life saver ;)
some encoder not working.
I dont think it wil be solved by them, now find a way to go back to 1.7.6 i have make a backup of the dbase but where is the tool save it?
Hi Peter, you can check the path to your backup in Database setup utility.
By auto update stay c:/ but its not there Marius
I have click on the backup database button in the tool
(http://qp-internet.eu/temp/radiodj-03.jpg)
The utility is doing the backup on the stored path. If it's not there, it was accidentally deleted by someone, or the database utility doesn't have the right to create files on the selected path. The second scenario can happen when the Windows UAC is active and is preventing programs to access/create files outside of the user folder.
However, this time the database update has only created a new column in the rotation table, so you can use it also with the 1.7.6 because the new column will remain unused.
I have put 1.7.6 back and some encoder is running ;D
Updated from 1.7.6. All went well and up and running for about 24h now. I hope there will be a compatible some encoder release soon. Thanks for the great work Marius!
Same problem to me, no some encoder plugin visible, although it's in plugin folder. Back to 1.7.6
In the downloads page there is a replacement for the "Plugin_Encoder.dll" of some encoder.
It's simpler, but it should work. I tested it all day on a shoutcast server.

John & Dragos, can you send me a backup of your databases, please? Today i found a user which was using an older version of the update history procedure which didn't updated properly the played artists and i'm curious if you have the same problem.
Hello there! I've been using RadioDJ for the past year or so for live broadcasts.
I just updated from 1.7.0 to 1.7.7 and am having difficulty making the Recorder Plugin (1.4) work. Not sure if this is one of those third party plugins mentioned earlier that needs updating from the author...
If so, is there any other way I can record what I'm broadcasting for podcast purposes?
Thank you very much and keep up the amazing work! :)

Marius,
I believe the artist repeat issue was due to my default rotation being empty after the upgrade. I added the items back in and that's when I started getting artist repeats. I then deleted the rotation completely and rebuilt it from scratch and since then no repeats.

You have a mail with our database.
Thanks!
@Marius, did you recieve the email with our DB? If you did, does it look ok?
Also, maybe you can fix the multiple request problem. It's annoying for other listeners that the same person can request the same song (wich it's played 3 times in a row if it was requested 3 times) multiple times if it wasn't played, as you can see in the screenshot below.
Also, when using AutoUpdate I get this error:

Dragos, i received the mail, and i don't see anything wrong there.
About the auto updates, i wrote in another topic that i modified it in order to be version specific, so it will not work until i release the new auto update utility.
I've had 1.7.7 up for a good few days now and I've found it's repeating artists (see screenshot) yet I have artist separation set at 300
It played Living in a box at 12:00 now just over 1 hour 22 minutes later it played them again. :bash:
(http://djgarybaldy.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Screenshot-090215-132352.png)
I did the database upgrade when I upgraded. Didn't have this problem with 1.7.0 - 1.7.6
Any category reset messages in logs?
Also, can you please take a look in the database and send me the UpdateTrack procedure content that you are using?
Thanks.
Ah, Dragos, what script do you use for requests? Your problem cannot be fixed from the plugin because the requests are inserted using a php script and that script must check if the track id is already requested. The plugin only lists the inserted results.

Now the SEARCH PLUGIN doesn't work... I see it at the plugins, but I can't see it at the program surface. :(
And now the updated AutoUpdate doesn't work... after I press "Check for updates" I got this:

************** Igény szerinti (JIT) hibakeresés **************
Az igény szerinti (JIT) hibakeresés engedélyezéséhez fel kell venni
a jitDebugging értéket az alkalmazás .config fájljába, illetve a
gépkonfigurációs fájlba (machine.config), a system.windows.forms
szakaszba. Emellett az alkalmazást a hibakeresés engedélyezésével
kell lefordítani.
Példa:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
Ha engedélyezve van az igény szerinti hibakeresés, akkor a nem kezelt
kivételeket a rendszer a számítógépen regisztrált JIT-hibakeresőnek
küldi el, és nem a jelen párbeszédpanel megjelenítésével kezeli."
The newest version doesn't have any files in autoupdates, that's why i explained how to do the manual update.
If some files were replaced, you may end up using mixed files, from the old version. I suggest you to manually replace all files with the ones from the 1.7.7 package if you want to use this version. Also, don't skip the database update if you didn't do it.
QuoteAbout the auto updates, i wrote in another topic that i modified it in order to be version specific, so it will not work until i release the new auto update utility.
Im a little late, but im going to start upgrading today.
