Title: RadioDJ v1.7.8 Released!
Post by: Marius on February 19, 2015, 07:33:12 PM
Changes:

- Added the option to remember the main window's size and position [NEW];
- Added the option to fetching (.pls/.m3u) playlist file for internet streams. If multiple links are available, it will played the first active link from the list [NEW];
- Included new version of Auto Update utility, which will only show the files compatible with the user's RadioDJ version. [NEW]
- Fixed plugin activation bug when loading them;

HOW TO UPDATE FROM 1.7.7?

    METHOD 1

    1. Replace ALL .dll files with the new ones;
    2. Replace RadioDJ.exe with the new one;

    METHOD 2

    1. Unzip the new version somewhere on your HDD;
    2. Delete from the new package the settings files (they are named like settings_XXXXX.xml);
    3. Copy all files from the new package over your old files in order to overwrite them;

    ALTERNATE METHOD 3

    1. Replace all the files with the new ones;
    2. Customize the settings for the program/plugins;

NO DATABASE NECESSARY IF UPDATING FROM RadioDJ v1.7.7

If already using v1.7.7 is strongly recommended to update to this version!

HUGE FAT NOTE: You cannot update from older versions than 1.7.7 without applying the database update from the 1.7.7 topic. This version is only compatible with RadioDJ v1.7.7!

Worked nicely. The only issue I had was the now playing saving. That is not a big deal. I can redo that easy. One other thing, it is marking as artists as played, however it is allowing them to be right back into the playlist like they should not be in rotations.

In this new version the Say Time is repeated several times the minutes
gives the hours and minutes example midnight and 48 minutes repeated 48 minutes ... 48 minutes ... 48 minutes several times just stopping the radio dj normalizes

@adrinto: here is working just fine. Can you double-check?
@Copper007: The database name can be changed from the setup utility. Just tried again and it works.

PS: @Copper007 i know what you mean now. The database name field doesn't allow to enter invalid characters. To delete the existing name or part of it, just select it and press delete. I modified this behavior to allow also backspace and it will be in next release.

Very good work! I'm happy :)

On the database setup -> database name (default radiodj161), you can delete, but only "delete" button, the "backspace" not worked for me.

I can't find the Auto update utility just only "4" button, but this is not problem :)

(sorry for my wrong english...:( )

Don't worry Csabbi!  :)
The auto update was separated from the database utility and it can be found as "AutoUpdate.exe" in RadioDJ folder.

WOW!!!
I missed the forum for a couple of months (that's not good... I know!  )
...and I find not just one... but three software updates!!
Great Marius!
So my question is...

can I update directly from 1.7.5 to 1.7.8 (I know... I have to do DB upgrade first...) or must I carry on through the various steps?
.5 > .6 > .7 > .8 ?

Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.7.8 Released!
Post by: Marius on February 20, 2015, 03:14:28 PM
It's enough to apply the database update from the 1.7.7 and then use the files from 1.7.8.

Hi Marius, All good so far having used Method 2 as usual.

One thing I've wondered for a while.... for Method 2, I've only been deleting from the new package the settings_****.xml files to then overwrite all the others. Should I also delete the settings_artists which is a text file?

Thanks  :)

That depends if you use that feature which is disabled by default and is very experimental. However the default file it covers most usual artists separators.

keep the artists text file. That is what tells RDJ what separates artists like ft or FT or even ft.

Great Marius!

1) I've done a DB Backup, created DB with new name, restore DB and then DB upgrade.
2) I have updated directly from 1.7.5 to 1.7.8 using method 2

and everything works except from DB autobackup... It doesn't work. Until version 1.7.5 it worked, but now it does not auto backups, it only works if you backup manually.

Just managed to confirm this by taking a look in our SQL backups folder and ours hasn't taken a backup since the 18th Feb (today is the 21st) it's set to backup at 10pm every night.

I have 2 search tabs just as you are asking for, I deleted my old plugin_search2.dll & Plugin_search2.xml files before I started and recreated them from the new (v4) search dll/xml files.

Works fine for me, I have one for songs and one for jingles but I do keep them in the same zone. Maybe you are trying to duplicate the old (v3.x) plugin?

TQ
Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.7.8 Released!
Post by: TQ on February 23, 2015, 08:45:21 PM
As a footnote to my last message here, I don't think the xml file is relevant but I did it in the hope that I could have the seaches in different zones,

It would be a neat feature if the dll could be dependent on an xml file of the same name so additional search tabs could be placed in different zones.

TQ

I have some issue with this version... but maybe not only this version, because after few months we started again to play NEWS!

The conception is this:
https://screencloud.net/v/l2Qe

NEWS BED - NEWS VOICE - CLOSER/KICKER JINGLE -  SONGS.....

At the news bed the NEXT START is set after the introductory text at the news bed, and the NEWS VOICE starts playing, and I hear the news bed under the NEWS voice.
https://screencloud.net/v/eL2G

I set the NEWS BED "Play as overlay"
https://screencloud.net/v/on16

But I have a problem... when the NEWS VOICE ended and the next element starts (kicker, jingle, song, etc), I still hear the news bed, because it's longer the the News voice. The news voice is variable duration, so I don't know what to do. This worked before, but we don't use this function months ago. So any idea?

Post by: rogiermaas on February 24, 2015, 03:51:03 PM
You should play the news bed as a normal track; the news voice should be layed over the newsbed, so that track should be played as overlay..

Make sure that the only overlay file is the "NEWS VOICE" one and others are set as normal files.

Our copy of 1.7.8 is also plodding along nicely. It's streaming perfectly as well.

Only time we had to reboot the PC this past week was because of windoze updates.

Windows gave me a notification once that RadioDJ 1.7.8 had crashed. That was only when I logged in remotely to check some other things. It just kept on playing the music ;-)

All in all yet another stable release!

I got this, but I'm a little wary about how to install it...
I'm currently running 1.7.2.0 and I've apparently missed a few updates, so I'm not sure if I should install in the recommended fashion or just delete everything and basically do a 'clean install'.

What do you guys recommend?

One issue I have noticed is there just a bit of a stall when changing from short tracks to long tracks. IE from sweepers to songs. It seems to just stall a sec or 2. I have this running on a completely new install and new system. New DELL system I got last night from Best Buy. It also stalls in the view. Music plays fine but the interface stalls. It only last a sec or less.

Do not know if it was already reported, a problem with the database setup.exe

backspace in the database name is not working
radiodj_178 can not be filled in as database name.

directly into the database.xml works well.

Marius, not sure what has happened but I am going back to 1.7.6. I can not take this stalling of RDJ in the most current version. I went and completely rebuilt the database for it and reimported everything and it goes to short tracks or even long tracks but it acts like it stalls for a sec or 2. I have it running on a brand new system with the horsepower to work it. So not sure what happened other than the database change but it was enough to cause some issue some place. I wish I could record things as it plays. I mean it even goes out on the stream as well. So I have replaced everything and nothing helps. I am running 1.7.6 and that issue is not present. It just runs and goes like it should. Sorry I am not much more help but I can show you if needed.
Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.7.8 Released!
Post by: Marius on February 28, 2015, 09:38:55 AM
Strange. Did you deleted the new version? If not, can you try something?
Copy only "bass.dll" from the 1.7.6 to the 1.7.8 folder (replace the new one) to see if the problem persists. Since 1.7.6, other changes to the audio functions than updating the bass to the latest version wasn't made. So i would suspect bass or bass.net, but in order to downgrade bass.net i must recompile all the plugins and main executable.

We're having the same problem. Sweepers that should play on start wait 1-2 secs until they're played and now they're regularly being played over the vocals..

Today I need to reorder some categories . So I wanted to rearrange the songs for the number of times you play , but unfortunately there are problems with the double figures . :-[

Autobackup no work still 21/02/2015 ? ???

OK Marius I have done what you suggested. It seems to be better. No issues yet, but will monitor it over the next few hours. it seems a bit faster too. But I have it running on my USB mixer sound card so to speak. But it seems that has solved the issue for now.

nope It Is Back to doing it Again  :-[

Update: it does it some times but not on others, but a majority of the times it does it. So I am going to go back to 1.7.6 until this is fixed. Wish I could get some video of it.

OK I noticed in 1.7.6 that it does stall here and there as well but the audio does not. The audio runs smoothly. I have been watching the little meters, countdown, and time stall for a sec and return to normal. But the audio in even my teasers are running for the most part without any interruption. I have also returned my rock station running under 1.7.6. So I dont know what else you want me to test Marius.

Than it beats me for now. My test computer is not one of those with plenty horsepower like yours, still both bass versions are running without any glitch for many days now and playing tracks from a NAS, so the speed is also limited by the network.

Let me know if you need me to pop the stream on so you can hear it. I dont know what is causing it to be honest. I thought at one time it was the VAC but with the new machine it should not have that issue. I thought maybe it was due to low RAM but that can not be it. I have the latest .NET too. Did not know if that might be an issue as well?

hi, marius. I recently upgraded my radiodj to the latest version (1.7.8.). for me... everything works fine. :ok:  :ok:

it's not a crucial issue, but I am curious, when I use the method 3, [now playing info] tab does not appear, as in the picture below.

then when I did an experiment to add extra search tab, as johny and TQ do. it did not work. but successfully done in method 1 or 2 ???
Title: Re: RadioDJ v1.7.8 Released!
Post by: Derek on March 03, 2015, 08:48:49 AM
Since upgrading using method 2, we've not yet had any known problems including sweepers and it's running 24/7.

Nothing has changed on our system since the 1.7.7 database update, no newer SQL version (Server 5.1 from the essentials install) or anything and still running XP. It's sounding great! :)

I only mention this in case it points to possible Windows or SQL version problems.

(We are aware of the lack of continued support for XP but it's a machine only used for RadioDJ with newer antivirus and XP is a very stable OS which we will only intend to replace when the pc/drive goes faulty.)

The buttons can be assigned from the rdj options.

The duplicate plugins will not work, as their internal code is identical and can cause problems. I would not recommend this in any case.

The history plugin doesn't work with MySQL 5.7.5 which Oracle is having yum upgrade people to for better security.

Any update on when RadioDJ with be fully compatible with 5.7.5

I don't think these are RadioDJ-related. Changing a database-name should be done in a MySQL Management program. The new database-name should then be input in the configuration. If you can't change that (or if your changes aren't being saved), then look at the permissions of your RadioDJ-folder.

The history is just a table in the database. It's a rather simple table too. I don't think your MySQL-version has anything to do with it. Is your database ok? Have you tried it with a fresh database?

Yes you need to look at the stream plugin. www.some encoder.com (http://www.some encoder.com) You need to also do a search before posting. Everything has been covered to death already. :bash:

it appears you did not search. There is a plugin from Marius and SNOWHOW both. They both work with the latest version. I was able to find that right off the main forum pages. I guess I should retract my statement, since I did easy work. :bash:

http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=6771.0 (http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?topic=6771.0) and that was right out in the open. Found it in 1 click, well 2 to copy the URL.

- Rogier

The history table is update by RadioDJ.  RadioDJ is not updating any of the Databases
and the Rotation is Repeating same tracks/artist/song about every 4 to 6 songs

All 9 instant of RadioDJ have the Same Problem. Even When I Create a New Database 3/4 of the way through I receive the Following:

1. The New Database was created successfully...
2. Creating New Database talbes and inserting records...
3. Restore process was interrupted by an exception
4. Import Error MySql.Data.MySqlCleint.MySqlException:alter routine command denied to user 'UserName'@'%' for routine Radio DJTestDB.UpdateTracks.

I modified the permissions and the error went away.

I still have a problem with the history table not being updated.

Even with a New Database under MySql 5.7.5 the history table is not being updated by RadioDJ.

Without the "UpdateTracks" procedure is normal to have the same tracks. From your error it seems that you are not using an MySQL account with sufficient privileges to create the procedure. Please use the root account if you are not sure how to give the privileges to your user.

I adding privileges and it work for 1.7.8 for a New Database with new data.  It did not work for 1.7.7 or 1.7.8 for an existing database.

For Existing Databases:
1. Backup Database
2. Delete/Drop Existing Database
3. Create New Database
4. Restore Database from Backup

This has worked for 1.7.7 and 1.7.8.

Second the BackSpace Key does not work in the Database Utility for 1.7.8
IF You Highlight the Name You can Type a new/modify name for the Database

Just be sure that the backup file contains the procedure, because backup files are database snapshots from the moment you have made them, so any other modification made after that are lost.

I am upgrading to 1.7.8 from 1.7.7 on Windows 2008 Server R2.  I have 6 instances of RadioDJ running.  This is the first time I have even had a issue start.

I stop the first instance say CGR. When I Start the New CGR Instance I get he following:

The problem was the Plugin_Encoder.dll.

The ones that work are  Zipped.2.5.3.zip and

PluginEncoderv1.0.zip a.k.a. Plugin Streamer v1.0 (For RadioDJ 1.7.7+)

The database setup.exe not taking automatic backups has already been reported. Until Marius releases and update you will have to do it manually by clicking on backup database. 2 second job.

Have you set a folder/path where the backup should be backed up to? That's the only reason it doesn't take one.

OK I have taken out the encoder from snowhow and using Marius's and no teasers and all is running smoothly here. Yes I am still getting stalls in the VU meters and count down clock but it is stable. I am only moving one station to 1.7.8 It is just a pain that this is happening. Also, Marius is there a way to hid the streamer? It seems like it is trying to pull from the DB and it is not responding fast enough? That little bit of stall or lag has to be somewhere. I notice it is in 1.7.6 as well. I have everything located on the same PC and RDJ folder on the main C: Drive. Wondering if it does not have enough connections? or Does not have enough memory? I am using the latest Maria stable. It acts like there is some type of just garble idea that stalls it just 1 sec. I would think you did not change the code completely from the early 1.7+ versions. So I am just trowing things out there for ideas.

For some reason 1.7.6 and the DB program will not back them up. So I went back to MySQL and workbench. Now I have them.

This is a bug or normal?

Playlist Builder/File/Open Playlist/Playlist from rotation

If I select a rotation which works from SQL query.... Nothing happened :(

I would like to make a chartshow with Top30 songs. Rotation from SQL Query could make this but, I can't set Voiceovers, sweepers, etc. If I can't get it at the playlist builder. :(

Hey all,

I've been reading here for a while on upgrades and updating RDJ and I'm thinking I may have only one "easy" option...
I'm currently still running v1.7.2 and have enjoyed the stability immensely, but after reading all of the new goodies in the current version (1.7.8 ) I'm wanting to upgrade in the easiest and fastest way possible, the only hitch I can see to my plan is the database update procedure...  :(
If I've been reading this right, I will have to download several of the "in between" versions in order to back-up and upgrade my database to the current version. I've come to the conclusion that it would just be easier for me to do a "clean install" of RDJ v1.7.8 and the database. Of course that means I will have to import everything all over again, and with God knows how many songs, station IDs, etc., it will take a while, but so will downloading and installing all the subsequent versions to get to 1.7.8 and fully updated.

Basically, which do you all think would be the easiest way to upgrade to 1.7.8 from 1.7.2?

I think you have everything done in 5 minutes, simply by doing the orders to upgrade to 178
Make a backup of the database.
Make a folder like RadioDJ-178
Unpack the new rdj in it, copy the backuped database to the folder in c:\RadioDJ-178\Setup\Backup\
Start in the setup folder Database Setup.exe, make a new database, then restore the database from the c:\RadioDJ-178\Setup\Backup\ folder.
Then run the update querty and choose 1.7.7 UPDATE FROM  1.7.6.sql.
And your reddy to go.

If you can type with 10 fingers is done in 4.5 minutes

Ok, I got the program itself up and running, but I do have a couple of issues:

1. The Recorder Plugin seems to be missing and I can't get it back. I use this for recording live podcasts, so it's a 'must have'.
2. The Requests Plugin seems to be missing as well.

All required files for both plugins are in the Plugins folder, they just don't seem to be loading for whatever reason. If I open my Options>Plugins dialog, they are not present in the Plugins list...  :'(

EDIT: The problem is partially solved, turns out that I somehow forgot to copy the files for the request plugin, it's working, and the recorder is also working, but I can't reassign it to the zone that I had it in before the update, the zone option is 'greyed out'.  :(

UPDATE! I've found that the problem was not the fact it was calling a live stream item, it was the disabling of the events categories!

I've left the original text below in case it helps anyone else. Simply moving the disabling of the events to the bottom of the event before AutoDJ Enable solved it. It just happened to be that only the live stream events required the disabling of the event categories!

Original text:
One little puzzle I've found when an event loads but only when it is to trigger an item which is a live stream - all other events that load items and tracks are fine.

The event steps are:

AutoDJ Disable
Clear Playlist
Disable Events Category x
Disable Events Category y
Load Track By ID|0|1981|specific station id item mp3|Top
Load Track By ID|1|3000|item containing path to live mp3 stream | Bottom
Play.
Some other items are then added to the bottom to play ads etc if the stream disconnects.
Finally, AutoDJ Enable.

Everything works, but the station id track repeats before the stream is played so you get the same id twice, then the live stream. It is set for only one instance as well as it's a particular jingle. It always happens but I cannot see why.

There are two separate days and events for the live stream and it happens on both but just to emphasise, all other show events are constructed similarly but the id's just play once then the show mp3 as normal, it's only when followed by a live stream that it's duplicated.

The live stream path is in a library item like when importing a track but has the path to the stream so the event doesn't directly call the stream, it calls the playlist item that paths to the stream if that helps clarify things.

Solved as per above!

One little puzzle I've found when an event loads but only when it is to trigger an item which is a live stream - all other events that load items and tracks are fine.

[...]

Has anyone else found this?
Hi Derek,

Can you verify that the station ID jingle is actually added twice to playlist by the event? That would be strange, because RadioDJ should not add track with same ID to playlist.
If the jingle is not added twice, could it be that you have assigned it as sweeper to the stream track?

While I'm on this thread, a note for Marius, again: On startup RadioDJ restores its window size and that's great. But the window always restores on primary screen on multi-display setup. Not a big issue but my primary screen has smaller resolution and the window doesn't fit because it was on the second, bigger screen when RadioDJ was closed. Would it be possible to restore RadioDJ window to same screen it was closed?

Andy you are not the only one who is having that issue as well. I would like it to be on the same screen each time so I dont have to fuss with it.

Hi Andy, I've just experimented and found that it loads the correct items once, but the event seems to immediately repeat itself, I mean clear playlist again and load the items, but by this time the first item, jingle, is already playing hence the repeat as it's loaded again. Also, only seems to happen on those events, not all. Very Strange!

Now I'm having problems with 1.7.8 not sticking to artist repeat rules.

Donna Summer - Love is in control played at 12:47 and now the same artist is now queued up for playing again at 14:23 (same song different version)

Artist repeat rules are set at 300 minutes as it always has been.

Hi Gary, Have you checked in case there's a space after Summer on one of them as that might show as a different artist?

Yes I'm pretty hot on things like that when it comes to tagging files.

Yep it is doing it here as well. Did you try my artists file tweak? I went and set it up like I have posted here before. It seems to work 95% of the time.

Marius it would be nice it we could have the Album Artist Tag in Radio DJ then we could put the different artist name in that tag while keep the Artist tag  with the Artist Name.

Artist                        Album Artist

Joe                             Joe & Mary
Joe                             Joe & Tom
Joe                             Joe & FIYA

Also can we get to SongID in the history table for the reporting and record keeping.

If I have Donna Summer  Thank God It's Friday &
Donna Summer   Thank God It's Friday
Say one is Normal and the other Modify.
I can't tell then apart in the history table which make report/stats/record keep difficult.

My problem with the duplicating id is solved! I've modified my original message to explain why but briefly, it was the disabling of event categories that was for some reason causing the event to clear and  re-load the items, simply moving the disable event category instructions to the end of the event instead of the start solved it! Thanks for the suggestions anyway.  :)

I move a database to a new machine and load RDJ 1.7.8.  RDJ1.7.8 is disabling track.
If I go into track manage and enable track it will disable other track. some track it will not let me enable.

Second The path is empty when I click on Edit Track however The path information is in the database.

What track is disabled? What type? Where is located (locally, network, external drive, cloud, etc)?
I really must ask every time every single detail? Please post all necessary info when reporting something because i cannot guess in every case what are you doing. Please also specify the steps in order to reproduce the reported bug.

1.7.8 will disable tracks if will not find them when are loaded. This is normal and is not a bug. The only known bug is for "Newest From Folder" and "File By Date" track types and soon it will be released a fix for that.

Marius, can you please add an option in tracks manager that resets the play count for a whole subcategory. Right now it resets play count in all DB, wich I really don't want.

local network which mean a local folder map to a drive letter to keep thing consistent especially when it come to add/replace and upgrading storage.

On my main system I when back to 1.7.7 from 1.7.8 because of tracks being disable after some time or after being played.  Not all track just certain ones.
On my main system I have the local folder mapped to a Drive letter.

If it's only certain tracks, are they all the same format as in maybe wma instead of mp3? If so, is there a codec missing from your encoders in 1.7.8 that's there in 1.7.7?
