Title: Weather Forecast for use with the TTS plugin.
Post by: Jhonny on January 03, 2016, 06:11:20 PM
Got a nice upload, a php script for the weather.

Have placed it in the download (https://radiodj.info/downloads/scripts.php).

The explanation on how to use with RadioDJ is in the readme file of the pakket.

Also how to make an event for it.

Thank you Buttons for the upload and the programmer Mark van Bellen.

Credits goes to you.

I had no time to install the phpdev server, but used my webserver.

This is how i made the event to a announcement of the weather.

date_default_timezone_set('America/New_York'); or date_default_timezone_set("America/New_York"); is for the est.

I do not know what the problem may be.

Hi Jhonny, I'm the original programmer for the weather script. The download is no longer there - I think this might be because you've updated your site. I was actually digging around in there to see what was there as I'm setting up a new RadioDJ for a friend. I've probably still got the script if you're missing it - just e-mail me and can send again. Local Weather forecasts on Internet radio are a bit odd especially if you have listeners from all over the world #JustSaying

Yup, that's one of the reasons that I don't do weather reports...
If the listener is somewhere local, it might be useful, but if they are clear on the other side of the world, it ain't gonna do them much good... :D

Yeh same for SayTime, it's almost useless. I did it as my first event when I installed radiodj and then I left it there. I once asked in future updates about something you could choose saying picking up at random "now in Tokyo is 8 o'clock PM" or "now in Rome is 1 PM" (at the same time), but nobody answered...  :bash:

My station is also operated on air as a Part 15 low power FM station, and so I like to do the local weather for the local folks listing on the air. That's why I'm trying to figure out how to set this whole thing up to do the temperature.

A bit late to the party, but here goes...

We operate a very localised station to cover our country primarily, mainly due to strict music licensing conditions. Those outside our country of broadcast can and do listen, but they do so understanding our content isn't aimed at them. Seems to work for us.

So, having an hourly national weather forecast and SayTime play well with the majority of our audience.

Drawing to a logical conclusion that those outside your country wouldn't benefit from hearing your weather or local time, you would also have to opt out from playing adverts, gig-guides, national news bulletins or any other local information too.
