Software to read temperature on air

Does anyone know of hardware/software to "read" the current temperature into RDJ programming? I've got the time check working really well, but since the programming is automated on my station, I'd like to add the temp if I can.

Preferably something REALLY CHEAP!

Thanks in advance!

I found a way to generate the temperature, but I can't figure out how to play it on air!

I have a copy of Mike Singer's Weather Watcher Live, which can do everything from generating the temperature to doing a complete weather forecast, but I can't figure out how to set up the output so that it runs as a separate TTS from the one I'm using to do song announces. I have that file set up as NowPlaying.xml. I have another file set up as Weather.xml that is generated every 30 minutes from Weather Watcher Live that contains only the temperature. I can't figure out how to set things up so that the Weather.xml file plays by itself.

I have the NowPlaying.xml file set to run whenever TTS is enabled. How to I set up the Weather.xml file to run separately?

Am I making any sense?

Any help and/or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I think what you want to achieve is a waste of time. Internet radio streams usually have listeners from all over the world they won't be interested in what the current temperature is in Timbuktu etc.... #JustSaying

Its like time checks/weather they're useless too.

True, but if you are running a low-power community station or your station is geared towards a local community, I could see this being useful...

Thank you Capt! That is exactly what I have. While I stream on the internet, I have a low power Part 15 transmitter, too. The coverage may be small, but I live in an apartment complex of older and retired people who enjoy the music and want to get the local time, weather and temperature. That's why I want to get this working for my station. (When was the last time you had requests put on Post-It Notes and stuck to your front door?)

I have tried running it as an event, but even when it shows up on the screen, it doesn't run. I've even tried to find something to automatically convert the output of Weather Watch to a text file so I can run it that way, but haven't had any luck with that, either.

I've installed 2.0.0.0 but haven't moved over to the new program yet...I'm waiting until after Christmas because I have so many temporary rotations set up to incorporate Christmas music into my oldies format.

To DJ Garybaldy: Thanks for your opinion. I appreciate what you're saying, but not everyone's circumstances are the same.

To Marius: The new version looks really exciting, and I look forward to figuring it all out. I hope you can preview some of the features in the paid version really soon so I can figure out how I can use them.

To Everyone: Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and keep on keepin' on!

Our station is geared towards a local community and I get asked for this a LOT. Enough that it's hard to ignore. Would also be interested.

This most certainly is not a waste of time.  I use RADIODJ on a real FCC licensed terrestial radio station and am trying to figure out this solution myself.   Time works great, now we need Temperature!

I know how to do this and have an AI voice no one can tell is AI read it out on the air. Weather can be as local as your zip or postcode. If interested PM me.

count00zero

My approach to that was quite simple (with the usage of google text to voice api
I used ansiweather (linux) to generate text weather condition infos for my region (used sed to replace some strings) and used the output as input for the text-to-voice engine to generate an mp3 -> that's it.

I have a totally free way of doing this with a serivce I just launched.  It will speak the current temperature for your stations location.  This service is totally free, but as it is part of a commercial product with paid for options I am not posting it this forum as I do not want to fall foul of the forum rules.

Hey Chris!

I hope you are doing well. I just noticed your posting about a free way to give temperature on RadioDJ. I realize this post is almost two years old, but I was browsing old postings so I hadn't notice it until now.

Do you still have this program and, if so, can I get more information about it?

Thanks!
