I have a similar error. I have updated RadioDJ to Version 2.0. In my wordpress plugin I have entered the new connection string  like the new database name (radiodj2). But when I click on "verify database settings" I receive the following:

QuoteUsing mysql client to connect (green)
Connection took 0.1 seconds (green)
Error connecting to RadioDJ database: Host 'fcbliveradio.ch' is not allowed to connect to this MariaDB server
Unknown mysql error occured

I have forwarded the por 3306 on my router at home to the pc where mysql is running. On local firewall the port is also allowed. On webservers firewall the port 3306 is allowed for outgoing traffic.

What I am doing wrong???

EDIT: with the RadioDJ version 1.61 it works fine

Using: RDJ 2.0.3.7  -  Icecast 2.4.2  -  on Debian 9 (stretch)  -  Centova Cast  - MBRecaster 5.0.0.7 Free Version - XAMPP at Home PC with MariaDB

I have found the error. It was a wrong configuration on my router (forwarding).
