We know it can be daunting installing RadioDJ for the first time especially if you're not used to software that requires a database Don't Panic!

Follow a few basic steps and you'll have it installed in next to no time.

QuoteImportant: If upgrading from v1.8.2 you will need to run the SQL Update file using the database setup tool you need the 1.8.2 TO 2.sql update file located in the SQL folder inside the setup folder.

Backup your database before making any changes!

1: Install MariaDB/MySQL (If you haven't already installed it) Find out how to install that here https://djgarybaldy.blogspot.com/2020/08/installing-maria-db.html

Important: Write down your SQL password you will need it for the database install

2: Download the RadioDJ v2.0.0.0 (Installer) file from the main Download page

3: Before install right click on the installer file and select properties to check if Windows is blocking it. If it is click Unblock, then proceed with install as you would any other .exe file install to C:\RadioDJv2 make sure you install as Administrator.

4: Open up database setup from the setup folder (inside the RadioDJ program folder on the C:\ drive)

Enter your details of your database

MySQL server = 127.0.0.1 or just localhost.
MySQL database = Usually this is just "radiodj" (You can call it what you like)
MySQL username = Default user is usually "root" (Don't use root for requests)
MySQL password = The password you chose when setting up the SQL server.

5: Click on "Install database" and the database should now be installed without any errors. If you entered the details correctly you should then see "MySQL server online"

6:You should now be able to run RadioDJ for the first time On first start-up select your sound cards and restart for changes to take effect.

7: You also need to sort out user access from the options menu if RadioDJ says you don't have permission then you log in with the default username/password which is simply just admin/admin

Note: You can disable user account control however having an administrator account means it would stop other people messing with your RadioDJ settings.

8: Start creating categories from the categories manager under options, then start importing music from either track import or directory import.

9: From the options menu you need to setup a rotation you do this by picking from the categories you setup and imported tunes into.

Start enjoying stress free music automation.

It will take time to get used to what RadioDJ does if you get stuck please don't hesitate to post asking for help http://www.radiodj.ro/community/index.php?board=33.0

I've tried to spell it out as best I can we hope you found this topic useful.

This tells you how to import tracks into RadioDJ https://djgarybaldy.co.uk/importing-tracks-into-radiodj/ once you have RadioDJ Installed that is...

Read the Instructions I've made it as simple as I can without actually having to hold your hand. MariaDB isn't that hard to setup either https://djgarybaldy.co.uk/maria-db-radiodj/

I don't know how many tracks you have and what kind of tracks (pop, country, jazz ...).

So first decide how you want to set the categories and subcategories as mentioned in the instructions. Makes it a lot easier otherwise you have to rearrange it afterwards.

Does this require a Shoutcast or Icecast server for people to pick up the stream, or is this built into RadioDJ?

Hi,

First of all many thanks for creating such a great software. I'm a hardcore pc hardware and software user with limited database skills. I followed the tutorials with exact instructions. Installed MariaDB, created database with RadioDJ many times. Everytime i run RadioDJ Ireceive a "Warning an exception occured. Please see the logs" error. I can't create folders, subfolders, import tracks. Nothing seems to work.

I checked FAQ's on the support site couldn't find a solution. Only a post with a user's error log uploaded and no information was followed up.

I had no other option left so I need to ask for help and appreciate if someone could help. My exception log is attached.

Running Windows 10 Pro 64
MariaDB 10.5.2 x64
RadioDJ 2.0.0.6f

Sorry for the double post but I wasn't sure which topic would be the correct place to get your attention. I attached the exception.log and I believe only you could be the person who could put a meaning to the data. I'll still keep an eye on the other post it seems dead already. I'll appreciate your kind help if you can. I also signed up as a translation candidate for Turkish language to be able to give back to the community as a return.

All the best.

Any exception logs are Marius's job to look at. I'm only a mere moderator around here i have no access to how the stuffs coded etc...
