What is a folder sync and what's it used for? and how is it used?

It is for things like News and podcasts that are sent to you and downloaded. This will automatically update with that folder so your files in RDJ are in sync. Pretty simple.

So is/would folder sync be useful for my following scenario...

Each Thursday we record a new promo for a specific weekend show.  If folder sync is set up properly, would it allocate any files within the folder to a designated category/subcategory/type of my choice and make them enabled (and disable/delete any files that have been removed from the file)?

If so, that could simplify our process immensely, where we have an event that picks from a range of promo tracks, some that would be in another folder as the are generic and repeated, along with temporary ones I could put into a sync folder.

Any knowledge on this?  Or referring link to tutorial?  Cheers.

Did you took a look at the plugin? I think that its intuitive enough even without a manual.  :)
You can select a Category-Subcategory-Genre-track type and map it to a folder and then sync it manually or using events. The files that are not found anymore in the synced folder will be removed from RadioDJ database and the new files will be imported.

I'm not sure what additional informations i can add because is a very simple plugin. However if you still have questions, please be more specific about the informations you need.

Thanks Marius, yes just did that before your reply.
Found what I needed, you're correct, fairly intuitive.  And combined with creating a repeating event, should do what I require.  I assume in the event I don't need to add any extra 'arguments', it will just run all created folder sync rules?

Sorry turned out my question could have been held off (a little like computing 101 "have you plugged the power lead in?"  :'( )

Next I will use Windows Task Scheduler to run a batch file (to run advanced re-namer .aren task) that moves tracks out of specific folders at a designated time.  Then sync should also recognise the file no longer exists.

This will create a solution to my need to have some weekly promos that run only from Thursday to Sunday.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Don't worry  :D

Indeed the event action doesn't need any argument, when it will run it will sync all items from your list.
