Sound Card Issues?

I have a USB FM transmitter that I tested with last night just to see if a different device would work, but everything still came through the onboard sound card.

is your usb fm transmitter (LPFM) shown as a sound card choice inside RadioDJ, so you can choose it in Options > Souncards > Cue

if snot, them trade a booger for a cheap pci soundcard. usb devices frequently change bus id, and you have a higher chance of radiodj no longer recognizing the device and resetting the cue device back to the main board, so buy a pci device.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a USB sound card now working for Cue. Now I just have to work out why my sweepers are still coming up on the main playback channel

Short of purchasing a USB sound card, does anyone know how to get Direct Sound to work in this instance of Win 7?

There is no choice available for Main 1. I've clicked with and without direct sound selected as audio mode.

Possible the sound card is not seen

Good point Jhonny it might be a good idea to try and find the latest audio drivers for your soundcard I used a program called "Driver easy" from winZip that updated drivers for me.

Good ideas from both of you. It put me on the right path.

The issue ended up being windows updates that are "optional". After I installed them I was able to see my sound card.

Now I am off to playing with Widgets  to show current song playing and have to figure out how to create a request script (My radio station is going to be request only and streaming directly from my home computer)

I appreciate you guys! ;)

New to RadioDJ but not new to broadcasting.

What I am gathering is that 5.1 is not supported with Radio DJ 2.--, right?

I have a cheap VIVA PCI Sound Card.  Front is the Main Output from RDJ.  Rear is Sweepers, VO and Voice Tracks, Center is Carts and all 3 Aux Players and the built in PC audio out is the Cue.  These are wired to separate "pots" on a PR&E BMX 14 channel broadcast console.

All but Cue comes through the Main (Front) output.

I don't want it this way.

What isn't set right or what needs to be done or worse, what kind of sound card do I NEED to break out the audio in accordance with the options offered on on the Options>Sound Cards settings?

Indeed.
So to summarise, is it correct that the current free version doesn't work with 5:1?
Or perhaps not very well with external 5:1 usb cards?
This tutorial clearly suggests it does work with both 5:1 and 7:1, although it is dated 2014, and doesn't talk about internal/external.
I was planning to install and test it for a project, using a cheap external 5:1 card, or even 7:1 into several different stereo channels on my mixer, but having read some of this thread, I'm wondering how much of a headache this is likely to be?

RadioDJ only supports Stereo output and not surround AFAIK...

Thanks for your reply.
I think the intention isn't to output in surround per se, but rather to utilise (if now possible/realistically workable using external USB cards, which is my question) the six or eight channels some quite inexpensive cards offer to provide several different external mixer stereo line ins - as the tutorial describes. Or is doing it this way now not possible for some reason, or a pain in the proverbial?

Many thanks Marius and the rest of the contributors for this excellent forum and RDJ itself! Love the product!!

Question
Does RDJ 2.0.0.6 require a real sound card or is there a virtual sound card option?

Background
We are trying to set up RDJ on a virtual Windows 2018 server which has no sound card and no option to plug in a USB (its hosted remotely by a third party provider).

Appreciate there are also many conversations about virtual server set ups and apologise if I missed a direct answer to this question.

Thank you + keep up the great work!
