SayTime overlay - How to set it up?

Hi all,

I have a TOH bed that I'd like SayTime to play over top of. I think I've set up the bed correctly (set the intro cue point and and ticked the overlay box), but haven't found a way of getting the time announcement to play over the top of the bed.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance, Bryan

Really? No one knows how to do this? or even if it's possible? Cheers.

Having not used the Say Time plugin I can't help here either...

I'm guessing by the lack of answers no one really knows if its possible I guess.

Have a play around on a test machine/test copy of RDJ to see if its doable that's how I learnt how things work with the program

I have the instructions written in italian, now I don't have time to make a translation (it was an old post here in the forum). Late in the night I will do it.

Hi,  I run a Top of the hour Ident with say time.        I use an Event to play the TOTH file set at every hour 00.00.00, then make a second event to fire Say Time, in my case at every hour time is 00.00.05  So at the top of each hour my file loads and plays (it is 10 seconds long)  the second event is loaded and played at 5 seconds past each hour, this plays Say time over the TOTH.  The Cue points are not used to do this so I make sure the "Cue in" is not used and "Next cue point" is at or near the end of the file hope this helps.
You wouldent need to do everything yourself - if you trusted people!

Do as follow:

1. prepare a jingle for example: "the exact time is offered by" and save it in the jingle category.
2. prepare a manual event for say time.
new event, event type - manual event, add action, plugin, say time: schedule hour announcement. save with name. This is the manual event.
3. Open playlist builder and prepare a playlist with 1. jingle, 2 manual saytime event (you can find it at the top events menu). Save the playlist (eg Say Time).
That's all.
Now go back to the events and make a new event that repeats every hour or whenever you want, loading the playlist (eg Say Time), top.

At the set time the playlist is loaded at the top of the playback and when the song ends it is played in sequence, "offered by" and the announcement of the exact time, without interrupting anything.

Another situation:
1. Make a manual event for say time.
new event, event type - manual event, add action, plugin, say time (pause playlist): schedule hour announcement. Save with name. This is the manual event.

In other words, SayTime can be used in two ways:
- the "smooth" one, where the message always overlaps with the next track
- or "pause playlist", where the exact time "without bed" is aired and the next track starts immediately after.

Thanks Simon, do you use overlay on the intro?

Thanks for the effort, much appreciated!

However, I still couldn't make it work. Is the intro jingle set to overlay? Any cue points set? If so, how?

ignitenz,     No we don't use any overlay our TOTH  file is music only first then after 8 seconds our ID is sung - what happens is the Say Time plays over the music part that we have lowered the volume on this part of the file in an editor. It is simple and works well.

If you want to hear how it sounds copy and paste this link.

Sorry I got to this subject late...I've been using time announce both as a stand alone and over song intros . I have a part 15 transmitter that covers an apartment complex and the residents here really appreciate the time announces.

Marius, an update to the time announce plugin would be great! Thanks!
