Getting to know RadioDJ

Hey folks, I've been watching RadioDJ videos on YouTube and getting ever deeper into this site and the support forum, and I still have a couple of questions:

Does RadioDJ have user account permissions/settings beyond Windows user accounts?

How strict are the hardware specs? Is 4gb ram a hard minimum?

Is 2-4 channels of discreet audio output easily obtained via PCI or external (USB/FW) sound cards/interfaces?

I'm trying to assess this software for a community FM station. My perspective comes from working with the very first broadcast automation systems in the 80's, working alongside the people developing and marketing the high-cost, heavily-supported radio automation systems of the 90's and the "oughts" and now researching all the available radio playout systems on Mac, Linux and Windows platforms for this usage.

This software looks quite well designed, if somewhat heavy on the 'internet-station, all-elements-in-one-box' idea. Just wondering how it is with 80+users and 4 or 5 different use-cases at work every week? Any feedback is appreciated. If posts or threads exist to answer my queries, please add links if you can. If a thorough manual or other detailed documentation is available, please let me know. Thanks.

In my opinion 4GB is a minimum 8GB is advisable, because of future development of software (RadioDJ, Windows).

QuoteIs 2-4 channels of discreet audio output easily obtained via PCI or external (USB/FW) sound cards/interfaces?
Yes.

There are very good manual and tutorial sites: http://dj-jhonny.nl/new-index.php and https://djgarybaldy.co.uk/

If you have any questions don't hesitate and put a post on this forum.

Excellent! Thanks for the pointers.

Between the two sites, I am answering more questions all the time.

One thing I do not see (yet?) is whether this software will play nice with a touchscreen?

And, even though the sound card setup screen is shown, this does not tell me what to install for hardware if I want to get at least 2 discreet (up to 4) stereo audio feeds to my mixer for various players/cue monitor needs. Is PCI-based better than a USB/FW interface? Is that discussed in any detail somewhere?

Any feedback on those subjects?

Thanks,

Mark

Yes, when you Search (the Search button is at the top of the screen) for Touchscreen you will get several posts about this.

Can't really answer that question. I'm using a D&R Airlite which has an USB interface. 4 Channels on the Airlite are in- and output USB channels.
You can control quite a lot of functions of RadioDJ with the Airlite. Just have a look at this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfqAVhd45uI

I also use a M-Audio Delta 1010LT soundcard which also works very well in combination with RadioDJ and the D&R Airlite.
