MySQL 8?

I know the majority of people around here use MariaDB for their SQL server but I'm interested to know if anyone has RadioDJ working with MySQL 8

If so how does it handle? Are there any pitfalls or issues with MySQL 8?

Feedback on this would be appreciated.

Hej Gary,

I tried to install it, but I'm still on Windows 7 Pro and it is not compatible with that version of Windows.
So I'm still using MySQL 5.7

I can't even get database setup to recognise the SQL server & I can't even get the database to install its just not allowing me. so I guess RadioDJ cannot be used with MySQL 8 versions then.

Guess I'll be sticking with MariaDB as at least we know that works and is stable

OK so after looking at the installer again I've managed to get RadioDJ v2.0.0.3 to work with MySQL8

I had to choose "Legacy authentication Method" which isn't ideal but hey at least RadioDJ will connect in that mode.

I know Marius is looking into the authentication issue with the database setup utility.... But this is a work around for the time being if anyone wants to use the updated MySQL server

I did a complete new install on a PC with Windows 10 Pro.

As you mentioned and some other people on this forum as well, the only thing is the 'Legacy authentication method', but Marius is working on that.

I didn't have any issues installing MySQL 8. Everything works fine. Even my 'old' soundcard (M-Audio Delta 1010LT) which has no drivers for Windows 10 is working. The drivers of Windows 8 are working on a Windows 10 machine as well.

I have been reading some other posts that people have issues with RadioDJ v2 itself using Windows 10. In my opinion these issues are in most cases driver and/or soundcard related. As you mentioned in some other posts, just take your time installing the software and do it step by step.
