Pause/Unpause Tracks Rotation
« on: January 10, 2019, 01:16:11 PM »
How do you pause and un-pause a rotation?

To play an event (hourly news) I was using

Stop
clear playlist
load XXX
play
Load XXX
play

The problem with that is it would clear and reload the tracks rotation. So if you're running an event (like hourly news) every hour, the tracks rotation never plays everything, because it clears and restarts every hour

I tried using

stop
pause
load XXX
play
Load XXX
play
un-pause

and that seemed to work yesterday, but today it starts loading and playing but then gets overlapped by the next item in the tracks rotation

You don't need more than one play command at the end.  Each time play is done, it starts the next item in the queue.  Also, I believe the stop command will stop whatever is playing at the point in time the command is issued, which could cut off whatever is currently playing.

There as to be a "play"after each "load" because it loads and plays 2 different files

Anyway, after hours of experimenting I figured it out. It needs to be:

Stop
load XXX
play
Load YYY
play

That stops the rotation, loads and plays the two tracks in sequential order
and then the rotation continues playing at the next song, without clearing

Try it this way instead...

Stop
Load YYY (To Top of Queue)
load XXX (To Top of Queue)
play

It loads the items backwards (But at the top of the list) so that they play in the correct order.

(If I'm not mistaken) Everytime you use the play command, it will fade out what is currently playing (as if play button were manually pressed) so having two would start the first item, load the next item, then the second play command will fade out the first item and start the second item.

Well the first one I load is just some introduction music for the news
So that's ok if it fades
but I haven't noticed it doing that

But why would you need to delete the existing playlist? You can simply schedule the news at the top of the main playlist and at the right time just switch to the next element from the playlist, which would be the news.

It's not a playlist. It's the tracks rotation and it was someone in the forums that told me to do it that was a couple of months ago.

But after some trial and error, I have learned it doesn't have to clear, it just has to stop and then it will start again after the event

The rotation is creating a playlist, the one from the left side of the program. That is the one i was talking about.
