If that's so, where can I find a (legal) document that states so?

I don't know if there is a legal document on that but in the Netherlands with Buma/Stemra/Sena you pay for each song played. The source doesn't matter in this case. One thing it is prohibited to restream a track from another station. So you have to have the track locally.

Again: where can I find a document, coming from a legal source (e.g. Buma/Stemra/Sena), that states this? I have had this discussion with several people before where my opinion was the same as yours, but have never had or could never find a document that states this.

https://spacial.com/stream-licensing-internet-radio-stations/

This says nothing about the source of the tracks you're playing. It's only mentioning types of licenses you have to obtain in different countries.

Jhonny

Hard to find back, but I have read that the sorce does not matter for every track played, roialty are due
so via an internet stream your station will also play the track at that time.
I am still looking further if I can find it again

The only thing I can find about Buma/Stemra using Online Radio is this website:
https://www.bumastemra.nl/muziekgebruikers/type-gebruikers/

At the bottom of this page you will read about Online radio.

On the right side there is a link to the Algemene Voorwaarden. I have not found anything about the source of the tracks.

Beside Buma/Stemra you also have to contribute to SENA.
https://sena.nl/files/original/tarieven-online-muziekgebruik-2019.pdf

On this website of Stichting Webcasting you will find more about these subjects:

A person wants the same thing. :hihi:
response is:

QuoteTake a look at the recent events. Nederland.FM who has problems with BUMA / SENA while only linking to streams. Then the situation with 538 that gets into trouble with podcasts. I think they will also be annoying about this. Only you don't have the nice lawyers they can afford. Just a twitter advice from my side: #do not.
In addition, how did you feel about your own payment?
