[Solved] Lost audio between RDJ and BUTT after Win10 update. Need help!

Microsoft informed me I needed to perform an upgrade of my main PC, which I did.

Following the upgrade though, I've now lost the ability to send audio from RDJ to our BUTT encoder.

RDJ outputs sound normally, but it doesn't reach the encoder. I've tried using VLC, no change.

This is a matter of some urgency as I've been advertising our existence and am starting to see more listeners come online. It's not a good look!

Please help!

Seems this W10 update has screwed a few machines/users over I've heard of issues with other software. :bash:

dare i ask? have you tried virtual audio cables?

Hi Gary, thanks for responding.

No I hadn't tried virtual audio cables, mainly because it didn't need them before the update so shouldn't need them now. But if you think they'll help, I'll give one a go.

Cheers.

EDIT: Tried that, no go. Can't even do a system restore, Windows has wiped those previous to update.

Sorted.

Seems like some permissions got messed up during the anniversary updated.

Mainly the 'Microphone' setting was disabled. It's a bit misleading considering that permission also works for any input going to the stereo mix.

Cheers.

I have noticed that a lot of things seem to get set back to default settings when those big updates happen.  I have six computers (three desktops and three laptops) all different makes and models and im forever resetting things after updates.  It seems to be the nature of beast.  :bash:
Beer is the answer,  Now what was the question ?

To Errr is Human to make a complete balls up you need Microsoft.

I disabled Windows search recently after an update had switched it back on from it being disabled.
I've worked with Windows for 20 years now in most of its varying flavours and Windows 10 is the neediest most annoying one of the lot of them when it comes to updates.
