1.8.2.0 Stutter - audio file attached as example
« on: August 05, 2019, 12:12:31 PM »
E6700 Dual Core @3.2GHz Packard Bell 3gb RAM Windows 7 Pro

Successfully running RDJ 1.8.2.0 since 2013 (plus earlier versions of RDJ) and once a year we have the attached audio file problem. All that needs doing is to shut RDJ and re-open it.

The file, in this case James Blunt, is playing and continuing at a very slow rate. Constantly repeating the same millisecond of song and then moving on. It takes, by my calculations, 3 hours to play 3 minutes.

The machine does this just once a year. I wouldn't say RAM is a problem as its only begun to occur since 2017.

Original hard drive which isn't clicking or showing any signs of a failing drive.

Only than running RDJ plus Audacity for pre recording show, this PC does nothing.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

You say the hard drive doesn't appear to be failing have you ran a disk health check utility?

The times I've had stuttering audio in the past and file(s) refusing to playback properly was a hard drive about to go, we work from SSD disks for our music now YES I'm aware that they can cost a fair bit but the performance increase alone is a great reason to invest in an SSD.

Failing that can you check to see if the music files are being scanned constantly by Windows Defender if they are exclude any music folders from being scanned.

That's all I can think of for troubleshooting. Hard drives don't always tell you when they're about to fail at least that's my experience.
