Automated Downloading of News MP3 Files

i'm a new user of radiodj and did the following test -

I got ahold of the Sky News (2 minutes hourly) at              https://video.news.sky.com/snr/news/snrnews.mp3

I created a new Internet Stream using that URL

Using the event manager I get it to load and then play this track at 5 past the hour repeated throughout the day

It worked

don't you normally have to pay for Sky news? Not sure you're just allowed to rebroadcast it without permission.

Besides Its part own by Murdoch and I'll never have SKY because of him.

It works with sky because the mp3 ALWAYS has the same file name. Others don't do that and it impossible to do a stream in RDJ because of that. And about a year ago I hunted high and low to find a download manager to do it and couldn't find one

Sky news is free if you're Rajar, £350 a year for an OFCOM licensed FM station and £2,000 a year for online. They DO prosecute non licensed users.

SRN provides a whole series of round the clock audio news feeds via rss

Is there a way that radiodj can subscribe to an rss feed, auto import the latest audio file and then play it ?

No, it won't work because every file has a different name

I use Feature Story News and my computer automatically downloads the feed and plays it back at an assigned time because the news feeds always use the same name. I use Internet Download Manager, which you will have to pay for. Once you program in everything, it's set and forget. I've been doing it for three years.

If the file name is always the same you don't have to download it

Just set it up as an internet stream
