Marius - you´re a genius
« on: November 01, 2019, 08:20:15 AM »
Marius,
it´s almost two years since I´ve used RDJ for a last time. I was forced to quit my internet radio project (no incomes, almost no listeners, but high outcomes - not in the radio, but family is consumpting a lot of money as well  ;D ).
I was bored a little bit last few days (wife and kids away for a week..:) ), so I had a closer look on some newer versions (I used to use 1.6.x or something).
I must to say.. I was absolutely impressed and my jawbone felt down. I just couldn´t believe my eyes how many very useful features you´ve added into such a great program, which RDJ is.
It´s adorable what you´ve created and you´re still going on.
Although I probably will not use RDJ anymore in a current life (I would like to, but have almost no free time and money..:D ), I just wanted to say you, what a big thing you´ve done.
Wishing you all the best and a lot of patience with a community..:)
Matej

Know the feeling about the costs of running things, I don't broadcast anymore either but I still use RadioDJ on a daily basis for my music collection automation.

We can't afford to have the computers on 24/7 electricity costs a small fortune in the UK that's just one of the reasons I'm no longer broadcasting a stream
Proud USER of RadioDJ since 2010

Well, electricity costs is not a big deal, here in our beautiful "banana republic" in the middle of Europe. :)
What costed a lot of money, is to pay royalties. There are two collectors, one for authors of lyrics and music and one for singers. The first one is pretty cheap to be paid. Some 40EUR/quarter. But the second - I would call them "rubbers" - they said, we needed to pay 540EUR or 3% of our total incomes on a monthly basis (depends what is higher), no matter whether we have ads in our broadcast or not (and we didn´t - almost no listeners means no ads, no ads means no income, no income means not able to pay, not able to pay means not possible to broadcast legally).
And as I said, kids and family costs a lot of money, so I was not able to pay every outcome for a radio and we decided to quit it, unfortunately.

Sigh! I was hoping that Czech Republic is more broadcasters-friendly than mine "banana republic", which is Poland. We have similar rubbers...

Maybe that´s the reason why politicians have created so called V4, because rubbing has Very similar principals in those four countries.. ;D
