My main machine for RadioDJ on air is windows 10, but my testing box I use for the betas is Windows 7 Pro and I decided to do an update the other day and after it installed I got an MS Window that pops up stating that Windows 7 support will end on January 14th.  No biggie but patches and updates will end for Windows 7 on January 14th :'(

To be expected I guess... They'll want everyone on Windows 10 eventually.

Windows 10 on the whole is OK for what I need it for.

Unless you do strange things like downloading and other internet stuff on the playout, it's not a problem. I am running W7 on my on air machine and that it's only function. No download or other things with browsers. Just playout using RadioDJ.  :ok:

It's only support that's ended as in no more updates. We just downgraded from w10 to w7 because all the updates was messing the pc up and restarting. If you do find a way of turning updates off windows can still force updates. So we downgraded to w7 to prevent updates. You can still use w7 for years to come. Some people still use xp. No doubt there is some people out there that still use Windows 2000 maybe earlier if they just passed a old laptop on to there kids. Just install a anti virus software on there you be good to go with more hdd space

There seem to be a way to kill the automatic updates on W10. As far as i know now is that you have to do that in the "reg" files of Windows. For me still the reason i am not using W10 on the on air machine.

Even better, did you have a look at the memory and CPU usage?  :hihi: I have an old AOpen XCcube with RadioDJ running on it. With DBase running, RadioDJ, Breakaway one running it only uses 20% CPU and 334mb! of memory use. It's only an P4 2.6ghz Hyper thread with 2gb of memory. Insane  :D

I remember my first pc a pentium 386 about 233 mhz windows 95 500mb hdd 64mb ram. Crazy to think a pc like that could cost you £500 back then. People would just bin them now. I like old computers I keep them to mess about on by installing windows 3.11 on and windows nt and 98 and me lol

Some of us around made a HUGE mistake when buying their first PC 512mb 80GB RAM Windows XP. over £1000 back in 2001 TINY PC saw me coming.

I had to go out and buy some more RAM for it £50 for a 1GB stick of memory.

I had a soft spot for Windows 7 it always worked for me when I needed it when I had it installed on my laptop & Virtual machines.
