new external stream not working
« on: June 16, 2020, 05:23:43 PM »
We are picking up an external stream to have it relayed on our own station.
Recently that station changed their URL and now it is no longer working.
I believe they switched to AAC instead of MP3.
Does anyone know how I can get this working again?

This is the URL for the external station
https://olon.quortex.ctl.cdn.ebsd.ericsson.net/olonradio/losdenhelderradio/master.m3u8

In the M3U file the following information is found.

#EXTM3U
#EXT-X-VERSION:3
## Just In Time Delivered by Quortex Solution, version 1.0.30

#EXT-X-STREAM-INF:BANDWIDTH=128000,CODECS="mp4a.40.2"
audio-nl-aaclc128/index.m3u8

Just registered as i'm helping dennus solve the problem. working on some ideas.

Working on a linux system on my local network, I can transcode the stream real time from ADTS/AAC to mp3 and pipe to a local icecast2 server for restreaming via ffmpeg:

Code: [Select]
ffmpeg -i https://olon.quortex.ctl.cdn.ebsd.ericsson.net/olonradio/losdenhelderradio/master.m3u8 -b:a 320 -acodec mp3 icecast://source:<password>@127.0.0.1:8001/stream.mp3

I can then point a web browser/vlc etc on another PC on the network to the icecast2 server and listen to the transcoded mp3 stream. We know we can set up a secondary icecast2 server either on the same system or somewhere else and point RadioDJ towards this as we did with the old stream, but we'd like to avoid that if we can. Note for various reasons we're unable to get the format of the source stream changed.

Question is, can the ffmpeg transcoded stream be piped directly into RadioDJ without having to go via an intermediate icecast server? I did a quick search on the forum and didn't find anything.

Thanks all,

Tom

One good thing to check is what shoutcast version you use. Most stream hosts are dropping the V1 and switching to Shoutcast V2.x. First check this one out. AAC+ or MP3 shouldn't matter in this case.
Running 3 editions V1.8.2 at www.salto.nl and v1.8.2 at radio251.nl. ( NOW with 2 live studio's! )
