Clear Playlist Event Not Done (Enabled)

B106-9

I have been using this program and frustrated with a few things, this one being the most major.

Some info before we start:

Windows 10/16g Memory
Testing 125 elements (Music/Jingles/Sweepers)
Worked with various automations professionally previously (OpX/DAD/Maestro/Prophet/Rivondell, etc.)
Brand new computer for setup (Last computer died after 12 yrs of automation)

Now the issue:

This new install seems good, except that events that are enabled, do not get automated/played/done. I currently have the Cue (what you call playlist) cleared at xx:59:00 to finish a song, then Legal ID (absolutely required by US Government). I have the legal file loaded into the command within the event after the clearing. That refused to work. I then made a playlist rotation after clearing the Playlist Cue. Failed. I now am just babysitting this now. It just is not intuitive, like other automation programs are.

Other factors to diagnose with:

The red "stop button" was not orange around it.
The top button says "AUTODJ" since nothing happened with this off...ie, songs kept going without clearing or Legal ID or simple dead air.
Smart timing was checked.
Enabled on every hour was checked.
Event was saved properly, as I went into it... it looked as it should.
Event should renew/reload EVERY hour at xx:59:00.
Event timer blinks 1 minute prior to supposed event being done.
Using Radio DJ 2.0.0.6 (per the about section).

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Derek

Hi, Does the item called by the event actually get loaded into the playlist area and just not play? If so, have you got "Automated" set, not "Assisted"? If the item called by the event does not appear, check that the item itself (legal file) is enabled and not disabled or not found when you look for it in Tracks Manager.

If all of those things are ok, can you post a screenshot of the event details? Also, double check that another event is not overriding the actions of this event.

So this is my issue with Clear playlist. Image one shows my event list. Image 2 shows the error I get, and image 3 shows the result. What's happening here and how can I fix it?

You have Clear Playlist as the last thing that would fire. TOP is how you created it so Clear Playlist would be the very LAST Item to fire clearing every track you just loaded.

Hope that makes sense.  You have a choice of Triggering and in the picture you have TOP (The Default choice in the event)

I looked at this because it makes sense, but, the option to change from TOP is ghosted. I cannot change the option.

EASY way is...

You can MOVE the Clear Event and move it up to the top by grabbing the line in edit mode and SAVE.  so when it RUNS it will CLEAR the slots and place your Loaded tracks in place.

[OR]
Make a new event and then before saving the action is when change the TOP to BOTTOM is not Ghosted.

Many thanks I will certainly try that, but I am also trying something new. I have created a rotation, and am calling the rotation into the event, rather than using the event as the entire rotation. So far so good, except to say it's not pulling in the FSN news stream otherwise it's good. I will try what you said by creating a new Event as a rotation, dragging the clear list to the top as well. I'll get there. Practice makes perfect. Many thanks again. If I still get stuck, using either method, I'll come back here, else assume that one of the methods worked. Cheers.

That's because it's a command to clear the playlist, not inserting a track/file etc. that can be put at the top or bottom of the list, you're actually clearing the list, so the top/bottom option is not relevant.

When you have items in the event that insert an item at the top of the list, remember that each time you choose top, it will add it above the previously selected item. So you have to reverse order load your items if doing that.
An example: if you have the following in your event set in this order:
1. Load track Top
2. Load News Top
3. Load Jingle Top
What you would actually end up with in the playlist area is:
Jingle
News
Track

As Vanlen has said, when you had your clear playlist command as the last item, it would just wipe out what you'd just asked it to load before that.
