What will be for you, the right size (Number of songs) for a radio database running 24/7. ?

I would think of it like this. . .

  • 3 Minutes per song
  • 1440 Minutes per day, or 480 songs per day
  • Pick the worst song, how often do you want to hear it? Lets say no more than every 3 days.
  • 480 x 3 = 1,440 Songs.
  • Add in a buffer, perhaps another day, gets you to 1,920 Songs.

I say in my blog posts about starting a radio station that ideally you should have 2500 as a minimum amount of tracks in the database just for AutoDJ

Of course the more tracks you have the less you should hear tracks/artists repeating.

There are users of RadioDJ with over 300,000 tracks in their databases.
