Sweepers and Tracks - Two Part Question

1023WOW!Radio

I have been using RDJ for 4 years now and have gotten pretty good at it, but there are a couple of things that still evade me.

1) Sweepers: When allowing Auto DJ to assign sweepers, set to play at START of track, There is ALWAYS a beat or two of the song that plays first at normal volume...then volume drops on the track and the sweeper plays, then the song transitions in back to normal volume....this doesn't sound like a natural transition to me. Is there any way to tighten up the timing so that the sweeper starts IMMEDIATELY then transitions to the song. Currently I have sweeper elements in the rotation as their own line items and cue settings giving me a natural transition (like someone is sitting at the board doing it).

2) Music library: I have not been able to figure out how to stop RDJ from swapping song data (including the song itself) in the library that have the same name. It happens regularly despite everything about the metadata being different EXCEPT the title. RDJ will take those titles, assimilate ones data (including cue data) over top of the other. So now I will have a random song pop up where it doesn't belong......and I'm usually no where near the studio when I hear it! Any thoughts how to stop this or why it's occurring?

I can't believe with the vast knowledge base of users here that NO ONE has any answers.

All I think about is moving the start ceu pont so put it earlier to a little silence  ::)

Agree with Johnny, use CUE to set volume on the sweepers, you may also try Options sound card scroll to bottom mix settings.

I've never seen RDJ swap data with another song in playback in 4 years.
Maybe describe in more detail what kind of files they and are you overwriting data weekly - like a syndicated show?

Ok, this only occurs on song files. Let's say for example I have 3 songs in the library that all have the title "Lonely". Each have different Artists, Genres, Albums, Labels, Cue points, etc. Essentially....EVERYTHING about each of those tracks are different EXCEPT having the same title.

What is happening is that RDJ is, in the database, somehow, swapping ALL the metadata from one of the tracks titled "Lonely" and replacing it over another. SO now, when "Lonely" (A) is supposed to be playing, "Lonely" (B) is playing with "Lonely" (A)'s metadata and cue points. And when I call them both up in the tracks manager, indeed, the data is swapped between the two.

It isn't happening to EVERY duplicate "title", but frequently enough that it is a problem and I am constantly having to fix the files. Why is this happening, and how do I prevent it? I can't very well change the titles, that would effect many things down stream that require that metadata.

This sounds very odd, as the song ID is unique to each song.
Are you able to post the data from the two songs from the DB, before and after this happens? (4 rows in total).

Mike.

I will have to look into that. I am not one for messing around with the database too much. Actually, I was in correcting some titles today....seems there is several hundred that I have to "swap back".
