Changing ISP

At some point this week I'm instructing a new ISP to take over my broadband connection.

They promise Fibre speeds of 500mbps so I'm going to give them a go.

I may be offline for a few days depending on how how long the switchover takes.

Haven't changed ISP for 10 years now and my current one are asking extortionate prices for broadband out of contract.

I've gone down the Rabbit hole and Purchased the new broadband service. 3 months free then £35 a month on a 24 month contract seems reasonable to me.

500MB download not sure of my upload speed but speed isn't important to me its being able to get online.

They come to install it on the 22nd, I'm hoping there aren't many Teething issues.

Then i get the Great Pleasure of telling my ISP of 10 years where they can shove their service. >:D :bash:

Just had the new service installed...

This was the speed with my old ISP

This is the speed with my New Fibre Optic connection

I won't complain too loudly about the speed increase... Yet to test it for streaming

FYI. when switching ISP and/or dropping cable. When they ask why just say switching jobs out of city and don't have a new address yet. They will turn it off no problem. OTHERWISE they will talk your ear off for an hour trying to keep you.

very nice on the upload speed. When I lived in Beaver PA I got 1g down/1g up and static IP fiber into the house. I was spoiled. Now I pay for 1g down and 50M up and get around 800M down and 40M up speeds paying more than I did for the fiber in Beaver PA.

Wow, DJG! That's like going from riding a pony to driving a Maserati. Congrats on the improved speed!  :ok:

Fibre optic Broadband so far appears to be a winner  streaming is a lot more stable.

The change in speed is one thing but I'm also finding apps on the TV load faster now

There was an article I saw this week about routers in Japan delivering 391 Terrabits per second
