I've championed Audacity for years now and I've used it for a long time  :bash:

However I don't know quite what the issue is with Audacity on Windows 10 I try firing it up to record something and it screws over my audio and i have to restart the PC just to get non garbled music. Its NOT happened on just one computer its happened on 2 different spec machines >:D

So therefore does anyone know of other audio recorders that work OK on Windows 10? Preferably FREE!

I think I'm going to give up trying to record anything on Windows 10

IT doesn't matter which audio recorder I use the Audio cuts out and starts stuttering and I have to restart the computer

Not just one Computer though so its an Issue with Windows10  >:D I thought it was the computer playing up when i tested on my 8GB machine but the same is happening with the 32GB machine... Hmm!

Music Box

Hi Garybaldy, I use Audacity version 2.2.2.0 from 2017 with Windows 10 and it works perfectly.

Its not just Audacity that is having issues. I've tried a couple of audio recorders and everytime I hit record audio stutters and the computer requires a restart. I will try 2.2.2.0

I'm looking into what could be the culprit and so far I'm stumped.

ghm72

Nope the recording problem still exists with older versions of audacity I'm stumped. Its frustrating me now

ghm72

Well after narrowing down culprits I think I've found the cause. It would appear that the Breakaway one Virtual Audio Cables don't work well on Windows 10 after the latest feature update.

They were causing my audio to cut out and stutter.

Breakaway Pipeline hasn't been updated since 2018. My recommendation is that you uninstall it from your computer.

The Breakaway Pipeline download has now been taken down from my website

I've switched to the cable from V B Audio (Voicemeeter) and everything  as far as I can see seem stop be working without the sound Borking
I now have full recording in Audacity and my stream cabled and NOT cutting out. I think I need to log off this computer for the night if only to calm down there's been lots of swearing  >:D >:D >:D >:D

I seem to have to put myself through pain just to figure out what is wrong with something, I seriously thought it was the computers and Windows 10 at fault.

Sometimes under windows 10 you have to install Stereo-mix | Realtek High Definition audio to record (free)
By default this is not present or turned off

ghm72

Mebo thanks for your suggestion BUT don't think I hadn't already tried this with sound settings...

It was happening on different machines with different sound cards even Realtek and Intel

I've explained what was causing it out of date Virtual Audio Cables.

Since I uninstalled Breakaway Pipeline I haven't had any audio issues My PC has been up 2 days :bash:

I very nearly purchased a new Windows 11 PC but I guess I don't need to now (Not for a few years)

I hate it when computers play up

Audacity is reinstalled and working fantasticality well
