Event Pause

Every half hour I'm running alerts for the war.

I set up the event as
Pause
Load track
Play
UnPause

Shouldn't PAUSE just pause what's playing and UNPAUSE whatever was playing and let it continue playing? Because that's not what's happening. PAUSE stops what's playing but after the track has been loaded it goes to the next tract in the rotation

You don't need the Play command. I tested your event without play and it worked fine. RadioDJ is already in Automated mode so it plays the track (your alert) at the top of the cue then will go back to the rotation.

Using what version of RadioDJ? It's been my experience that it doesn't work without the play command

I tested in 2.0.0.6. When I used the Play! command, the track (war alert) played over the top of the song playing then went to the next song in the playlist. Without the Play! command, the Alert played at the end of the previous song then the next song in rotation played after the alert announcement had finished. RadioDJ was in AutoDJ and Automated for both tests.

I'm using 1.8.2

Without the play command the only thing it does is add the event to the top of the playlist. So it will play after the current file is finished playing

I have used 1.8.2 Hence my comments. I also noted that RadioDJ was in AutoDJ and Automated mode when I tested the Event. If AutoDJ has been disabled then Play! will have to be used.

no, when you use PLAY from an event, it appears to knock out the current item, and play the item at the top of the queuelist.

if your alerts are for a fixed duration, i.e. 15 seconds, then you could

PAUSE!
Play track from folder or category on an AUX player,
WAIT X seconds (the duration of your alert, ie.. 15 seconds)
then UN-PAUSE! (which would continue playing the track which was paused.

the tricky part is if you don't have a fixed duration, you won't know how long you need to delay while the track plays in the AUX player.

Another thing I thought of, you could attach an event to the actual track on aux player, and that event would wait for the length of the track, then do action unpause.

I can’t recall if you can attach event at the end of the song or just when it starts

I have a general alert message being broadcast every 30 minutes. It's 01:21 in duration

The problem is I am still broadcasting our syndicated shows. I wanted the event to pause what was playing then when it was finished I want it to unpause and continue with whatever file/event/playlist was playing

Air Raid Alerts and Missile attack alerts, as well as the all clear, will be broadcast on an as needed basis using the auxiliary players (and at the moment those alerts seem to be about every 10 minutes)

After getting a better idea of what you are trying to achieve and picking up on "stevewa" comments I propose you try the following:-

This will play a track from an Instant Player pausing AutoDJ and restarting AutoDJ once the Instant Player track ends.
 
Create an event

Pause!
AutoDJ Disabled!
Assisted Enabled!
PluginAction!CartPlayer!PlayCart 2 (cart where Alert message is)
Seconds To Wait!81 (the number of seconds is entered in the "Argument" field)
Assisted Disabled!
AutoDJ Enabled!
UnPause!

I know I created this in a different version than you but I believe this is all in 1.8.2.

Hope it achieves what you are looking for.

I took out the play command and left it as

pause
load
unpause

That puts the alert at the top of the rotation so it will play when the currently running file has finished

Then you don’t need those pause un-pauses.

Just load track to top of queuelist
