Gary,

Why would you lock the topic on a Beta Release that is still active?

It might be because of this post by Marius on Reply #5 on: July 02, 2022, 09:56:47 PM

Quotethe free version is updated and a new version is on it's way. The free version is my way to show my gratitude to all the users which were helping me until now and it exists only for this reason, it doesn't bring any financial help to anyone, beside the user who is free to download it and use it as it wishes. If it's too little or not, you decide.

Crossing fingers and Toes. ;)

The Topic was Locked because it was starting to attract answers and conversation that wasn't about the Beta

I think Marius has had enough feedback about the beta version to fix the Known issues.

Thanks Gary for the response.

I hear what you are saying.  I looked back at posts starting on May 2, 2022 until till the time the topic was locked and noticed there are some posts that are referring to the database structure, MariaDB, and Anti-Virus issues.  Some of those could be relevant to the current Beta Version but some could be general conversations.  Even at that, in the past I have noticed when someone has posted a conversation in an area where it didn't belong (or got off topic) you have corrected the issue by moving it to the correct topic and not locking the current discussion.

As it relates to a Beta Version topic, it goes against what Marius asks of everyone in the "README PLEASE" topic at the start of the beta release topic:

QuoteREADME PLEASE!

To maintain the beta forum as readable as possible, please post all the issues/questions to the corresponding version topic, without opening a new one.
At least here, because beta versions will be released more often, so it will be hard to follow all the topics.

Thank you!

That is how, I would assume, Marius keeps track of any issues with a particular beta version and to be able to correct any issues, as well as the problem being easy to find in case the rest of us have the same or similar problem.  I have noticed some issues or questions related to Beta 2.0.3.7 being posted to another topic since the locking of the beta 2.0.3.7 topic.

I would think if Marius thought there was enough feedback on the topic, then he would be the one to lock the topic either with an explanation or the release of a newer version.

I would also like to say Thank you to Marius.  He has taken on a project in which he takes no compensation for this knowledge and time.  He has provided a way for a lot of us to dabble in our childhood dreams at an older age.  I for one have grown to trust his work as I have been enjoying the benefits since version 1.6.1.  I also understand that deploying the software on a home computer for personal enjoyment in different than deploying it on a company or school computer.  In that environment taking chances are very limited.  So, I agree with most other people, and they should move on to a paid version of a program they can trust or get by their company security protocols.

Since Marius has given a lot of us so much and asked for nothing in return (other than our feedback) I would be willing to contribute to a fundraiser to raise the money needed to get and maintain RadioDJ past the antivirus scanner issues.  All of those in favor, "Please Raise Your Hand", with Marius' approval of course.

With that being said, I ask you Gary, please unlock the topic, "RadioDJ v2.0.3.7 Beta Released!" so everyone can contribute to this GREAT program.

Let's keep this software and community great for everyone.

Thanks,
Wayne Morris
