Import Folders to categories broken for me on fresh install, Win 11

Hi Friends! I have a problem that I may have created myself.

I installed Windows 11 and am now having problems with rotations, as certain categories will not play.

These categories were ones that I created: "Drop-ins" (200 files) and "Liners" (2 files.) I ran myself ragged for days trying to fix things to no avail.

I finally did a fresh install of RadioDJ a MarioDB.

After that, Same issue. I used search to inspect the contents of the categories: Empty! I realized the problem was with my self-made categories, so I tried existing categories to see if that would make a  difference. Now ONE of the the troublesome categories imported successfully ("Liners") but ther larger "Drop-Ins" won't come over.

UPDATE: Retrying to import files into a category that looks empty still elicits messge "...Aready exists." Weird.

What. The. Heck? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. This is an AMAZING program at any price. I  just hope I can get over this hurdle. Thanks!

This may have something to do with MariaDB 11.5.2.

See this previous post...MariaDB 11..5.2

and this...

Thank you so much, Kiwi, but  I am sorry to report that after MariaDB 11.4.3 and the latest RadioDJ fresh installed on Win10 and Win11 that I am still getting the same weirdness.

The first sign of trouble is that files from one catecory show up in another category.

I am wondering if maybe I should try rolling MariaDB even farther. Thoughts?

I'm using MariaDB 10.6 with Windows 11 - no issues. You may wish to try this to see how it works for you.

Are you just adding your self-made categories to the Category list or have you deleted base categories that come with the software?

When you import what are your category/sub-category/genre entries? What is the track type?

I see you also mention rotations. Hope you didn't delete the "default" rotation.

So many questions but maybe try the 10.6 MariaDB first and see if this solves your issue.

Maybe others will contribute their thoughts.

All the best.

Are you just adding your self-made categories to the Category list?  Yes. I also tried just using a premade category as an experiment.

What is the track type?  Liners and drop ins come in as Jingles, music as Music.

Hope you didn't delete the "default" rotation. Nope. I've read about this.

I'm here for your questions! I'm stuck!

Since I last reported, I tried 10.6 with 2.0.45, and 10.6 with 2.0.0.6 Same issue. Fresh installs following Garybaldy's MariaDB uninstall instructions. No joy.

Thanks again!

Have you checked in Tracks Manager to see if these files are enabled?

Doug Infinity

Good question. I had not, but...

When I go to inspect tracks in the track manager, only music (the last category to be imported) shows up. What's more, if I use the filters at the top of the page to look at a specific category, music files are there, but not any of the files I would expect to see. "Liners'" for example.

And remember, I can replicate this on different machines, Radj versions. MariaDB versions. I think I am haunted.

I've been watching this topic

I run 2039 on W11 with MariaDB 10.6 and don't have any of these issues

As Kiwi said it could be the sound card import issue

Garybaldy - Thanks for chiming in. I have used your uninstall instructions more times than I'd care to count this week. Thanks for that too!

Kiwi - Thank you again for sticking with me!

It is not the soundcard issue. Soundcards have been set in all cases, and unlike the user in the soundcard thread, I have files populating the track manager, but with a few weird twists.

let's say I scan in "Liners" first - It will show up as expected. Then I scan in "Drop-ins" and all appears well until I look at the Liner category. Not only are liners gone, but Drop ins appear in their place. Ans so it will go when I scan in music: Drop ins and liners are gone and muis appears in their categories.

Super weird, and it's happened on multiple computers running both win10 and win 11. Also several different soundcards.

Have you checked your sound card drivers are fully up8 to date?

Have you tried a virtual sound card??

I haven't checked the drivers, but all the cards are working fine. What would I be checking for? Up to date?
One of the machines is running Dante Via, which is a kind of a virtual soundcard. I've run RadioDJ with it before.

Thanks again!

Have you tried a "Repair Database" action and/or "Optimize Database" within the Database Setup utility?

The only other thought I had was that before you import the jingles ensure you have filled in all input fields (Category/Subcategory/Genre/Track type) BEFORE you click on the button to the folder location. I'm also wondering if the hyphen in "Drop-ins" is causing an issue. Maybe try "Dropins" as one word?

What type of files are the jingles? mp3?

I'm at a loss what else to suggest. Hopefully someone else may have a solution.

All the best

Progress!!

It is related to the custom categories that I have made. (Which I had previously ruled out, but whatever.) As far as I can tell I created them correctly by specifying a subcategory, but if I use existing categories, I don't have an issue. I'm calling it good enough for now, but will continue to experiement on the backup machine.

Which brings me to my new hangup: As careful as I thought I was being throughout multiple install/uninstall cycles, RadioDJ won't open porperly anymore on the backup machine. I get a blank frame with only the upper left quadrant, the playlist, showing up as expected. I'll be giving that my attention today.

Thanks for the help! I hope I can return the favor sometime!

Have you looked at the RadioDJ logs or Windows Event Viewer?

What DJ version and MYSQL versions are you using on the backup computer? Same as main computer?
