RadioDJ Setup for Fixed Radio Show Series

Hello all, I am new to RadioDJ and looking for help to steer me in the right direction in transitioning our station to RadioDJ. I am currently using a different automation stack that runs on an operating system called Haiku called TuneTracker. It has some limitations and I am interested in using RadioDJ. However, our programming format is not necessarily geared toward how RadioDJ is typically used. Our format is in the form of radio shows that broadcast daily within a time slot and are loaded by a dated filename for airing in each time slot. My thinking is to implement the station as follows.

1. Set up my audio file structure as it is in the old system with folders for each speaker and in each folder would contain the program files by date
2. Set up hourly rotations with each time slot loading the file by using 'Track from SQL query' to find the file by date that will be loaded. For station IDs, weather, etc. I would use the normal 'Track from category'
3. I would then set up hourly events to load the rotation file and generate the playlist dynamically for each hour. I am thinking to cover varying program lengths, I would pad the rotation with a few music files for the hour. I am also considering doing rotations by the half hour to better handle the time but open to suggestions.
4.I would then set up a folder sync to allow adding new content that is automatically downloaded into the folders to ensure that the rotations can find the files when the playlist is generated

For step #2, I have some concerns, if the content for that particular show happens to not be available, I would like to fall back to music. Our current system will simply play random music if content isn't found for a given program. Is there a way to tell RadioDJ to do something similar? If not, I considered implementing a case selection for the SQL query to fall back to the previous days broadcast but am open to guidance on how best to handle this. It isn't often but it does happen that the content provider for a given show doesn't get the files uploaded and available in time.

I realize I am new to this but if anyone would be able to help guide me or correct my implementation to help ease the transition, I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Bill
