Hello

I've loaded music tracks into my RDJ program.  Tring to understand how the assignment of categories work.  I did find where you can create new or different categories which I did create a few news ones.  What I'm trying to figure out is an 'easy' way to assign categories to tracks in bulk, as in large number of tracks?  I was able to install and setup the MySQL program.  Would it be better to remove the tracks from RDJ and assign the categories another way (?) or can it be done inside RDJ.  One at a time is not an option.  In the track manager, I didn't see a category column only the ability to sort on the tracks.  Thanks

How did you import the tracks?

In Tracks Manager you can sort the tracks by category/subcategory/genre by selecting the appropriate columns at the top of the page. Default is Any Category/Any Subcategory/ Any Genre which should show all the tracks imported into RadioDJ. If you only wanted to show the Music tracks then click on the "Any Category" column and choose "Music". If you want to change the category of a track, you can highlight the tracks and choose the options on the left hand side of the screen to change the columns listed.

Otherwise... should you so desire, you could delete all or some of the tracks you wish to change and re-import them selecting the appropriate category for them

Hope I've understood your question.

Hi Kiwi

Yes, your response was about what I suspected.  When I loaded my tracks to RDJ, I simply pulled them from my PC HD.  For the most part, that did work, as it was able to load the basic metadata from Picard Musicbrainz, of which it appears that categories are not there.  I recall going through basically the same thing when I first loaded my tracts to Live365.  It took several days/hours to update the tracks to ensure the metadata is correct and then the categories is basically what Live365 uses to perform its AUTODJ.  The problem I have is the categories for my tracks in Live365 are only resident on their server, not on my local machine.  I've thought about what you suggested in deleting what I loaded to RDJ and reload in groups which should make the category assignment easier.  Do you know if RDJ allows the assignment of 2 or more categories to a single track?  Thanks.....Jim
