Un pause events

Good morning

i having an issue with paused events... let me give you the full scenario maybe it helps

We have and number of presenters who produce shows offsite and connect to our studio via internet stream into RadioDJ.
They connect to our library via VPN.

At the moment we are using a timed event (at for example 6AM) to start the internet stream and pause events (so adverts do not populate the playlist) and manually unpausing when someone is ready to take over and start a show from the studio

however, sometimes we have to switch internet streams... and this has to be done automatically as we don't have someone at the studio at all times...
the problem is, that with events paused, the event to switch sources is not being triggered
I tried adding another 'Pause' at the start of the event (event created an event just to 'pause/unpause' but it does not seem to work :(

i saw a number of posts that seem to indicated that this was fixed... but i am not managing to get it working for me :(

any help would be appriciated

Kiwi

In your Event to restart, what are you doing with the AutoDJ/Manual and Automated/Assisted commands?

johnsant1991

nothing really... i just want to unpause events so that the next advert batch loads and after that, the next internet stream starts

however, even when i just do the 'pause' event again, nothing happens... the flashing 'pause' button remains flashing and events remain paused :(

Kiwi

Will you not have to have a command like...

Assisted Disable!
AutoDJ Enable!
UnPause!

to get things going again otherwise RadioDJ will always be in Pause mode?

johnsant1991

how do you do Unpause events? there is not a specific action to do it as far as i can see...

from what i ready, i should use the 'Pause Events!' again to un pause... is this not correct?

Kiwi

Apologies!! You are correct. I overlooked you are pausing an event not an action.

My understanding is the same as yours. Use Pause Events to pause and the same command when you wish to have the Events start again.

johnsant1991

hmmm.. unfortunately it seems taht the 'Pause event' stops even the 'Pause event' from working to unpause :(

Kiwi

Have you thought of using the Enable/Disable Events Category option.? You could disable the adverts this way and achieve the same result?

johnsant1991

cannot really do that... as it would disable events at the remote instance of RadioDJ as well since it is connected to the same db via VPN

Kiwi

I've been thinking and...

Are you able to use the Track Edit features of your Internet Stream and under the "Others" Tab, go to the bottom and fill in the "Start Event   and End Event" options?. Here you could enter the name of a Manual Event with the command of "Pause Events". Obviously you will have to create the Manual Event first.

This should activate the pause for Events as the stream starts and un-pause Events when the stream is finished.

Give it a try and see if this achieves what you are looking for...

johnsant1991

Hi

that would be a good idea

but the problem is how would the 'End Event' be triggered? i mean, the stream will be up and running and would only end when the next event/track starts no? and if the events are paused, how would the next track be loaded?

Kiwi

Have you tested this latest suggestion?

I tested it on a music track and the Events pause at the start of the song (red button flashes) and when the song ended the red button stopped flashing and Events were active.

I am not a programmer and maybe because the (music) track is active the Manual Event is accessible and the action in End Event is executed.

Give it a try.

Otherwise... why can't you change the schedule of the adverts if you don't want them to populate the playlist? Or use the "Clear Playlist" command...

Other than this, I can't offer any other suggestions. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Hi

it worked on a track... the problem is that the internet stream will not end unless someone stops it.

I tried making an event that stops it... but with events paused, this is not working :/
That is the problem that i am having.

Kiwi

Here are a couple of forum postings that may trigger an idea for you... but neither of them include pausing Events...

I think i have finally had a breakthrough.... i don't know if its the correct way... but it seems to work
will update tomorrow as it will be tested later on today

what i did so far was, in the event (manual for now) to pause events, i added a wait of 2 hours (7200sec) and then added another pause
Not sure how the logic works... but it seems that even with events paused, an event that was already started will keep 'working' in background and the 'wait' and the following action 'Pause' will still work

fingers crossed that it works again
