Error running Database setup on fresh install

Hi all

i am getting the follwing error on a fresh install of the latest radioDJ on a new laptop

things i have already tried (to avoid wasting your time)

Troubleshooting with chatgpt led me to downloading a bunch of DLLs and not fixing anything, with new errors cropping up each time a dll is replaced
copying the files from a working install led to a different error

Quick update

Tried on another laptop and same thing is happening... only in this case Database Setup loads ok and i get an error as soon as i press validate details

no idea what is happening all of a sudden... radioDJ is till running fine on instances installed before yesterday with no issues whatsoever

Not sure if I can help, but this looks like a security issue. Are you using the correct password? Have you tried performing the task as "Administrator"?

Maybe others will provide answers...

Hi Password is correct since installs on other PCs are working fine :/
Apart from this, after the first error, the database setup does not load again, just the error window

I tried running as admin as well, same results

I notice the RadioDJ directory is referred to as " CodeBase: file:///C:/RadioDJv2/Setup/"

Is this the directory you have for RadioDJ or do you use a different one, say "RadioDJ2048"? What is the name of your database?

A thought...

Update

This morning I decided to format 1 of the laptops to see if a fresh install of windows would make any difference

lo and behold... worked instantly

tried doing the same on the other laptop as well and again... worked perfectly

no idea what was causing the issue... and very strange that 2 laptops, both used very recently, with completely different configs (different brands even) having the same issue out of the blue

just posting this update in case someone else ever encounters something similar
