DB password reset suddenly

Last night, around 10 PM French time, the entire RadioDJ ecosystem crashed. We rebooted, and the interface was completely changed; no tracks were present, and actions were unavailable. So we started HeidiSQL to check the status of the database, and that's when a message appeared: Your password must be changed following an ALTER TABLE.

I don't remember the exact message, but we clearly didn't perform an ALTER TABLE (no one was in the studio). We thought about a hack, but that's impossible; the radio station's internet server ports aren't open, and we've invested in good security.

Anyway, we had to set a new password, and when we reopened RadioDJ, everything was back, well, almost. The plugins were reset, and we had to create a backup of the settings to get them back to normal.

Have you ever experienced a similar error, and how can you prevent it from happening again? For example, do you think the password expires after a few years?
