Best way to backup/duplicate all the setup

Hi friends,

I'm looking for a way to copy literally all my setup from one desktop computer to another as a backup.

I want two systems to be absolutely identical — one running live (on air) and the other ready to take over in case of... well, insert any reason here! 😄

Any ideas ?

Thank you very much to all of you.

Why not create the database on another PC/laptop and connect RadioDJ to that 'server'? that way your database is always on and you can connect to it from any device on your network

Thank you John,

all the ideas are good. I have a NAS so maybe use it for the database but I am not sure because everything is working good right now and playings with the database make me nervous ha ha But, I will look at it.

Have a nice evening.

So you want to create a backup system which can take over in case  anything happens to your main system.

2 months ago, I had to do the same due to a defect mainboard (or cpu). I did this:
- copy RadioDJ installation folder to my backup system;
- on the backup system, install the same version of MySQL / MariaDB as on the main system;
- copy the appropriate database files to the backup system (in my case, I copied the entire \mysql\data\radiodjv2 folder, where 'radiodjv2' is the name I'd given the database during instllation);
- music is on an external drive; so I had to map the same drive letter on the backup system (make sure file path to your tracks is identical on both systems to prevent files from being disabled (because of 'not found');
- on the backup system, create a shortcut to RadioDJ.exe;

The only thing you need to do on the backup system is review RadioDJ soundcard settings (input and output soundcards) as it is unlikely both systems have totally identical soundcards (hardware & revision ids etc).

And of course, make sure to backup your database files (I use SyncToy, but have to temporarily disable the MySQL service while making the backup).

This process has worked fine for me and now allows me to run RadioDJ from my laptop in case of main system failure.
