Windows Server versions abandoned due to DotNET 4.8.1 limitation

I just went to update 2.0.0.6 on a Windows Server 2016 Essentials install, and the new DotNET 4.8.1 requirement means that is impossible. That DotNET takes out a lot of environments, all the way up to Server 2022, making users either pay to upgrade their OS, or not upgrade their install of RadioDJ.

It's a sad day, because I need to upgrade this PC and the on-air one that is under Windows 11, and I would like them to run the same version of RadioDJ.  It's a pain scheduling on the older version and importing to the newer RadioDJ 2.0.4.8 on the Windows 11 machine because all ads import as type MUSIC by default, and that causes some scheduled breaks to skip playing the ads that are set as type MUSIC.  I always make sure to set the type as Commercial, but occasionally they revert for some reason.

I am hoping that running the same version of RadioDJ would solve that, but I guess that's not going to be possible right now.

Now I have to explain to the station owner that we need to dump the Server version of Windows on the one machine, or pay to upgrade it, or else we will have these issues that aren't compatible with scheduling ads.

It's been all great except this issue.  I play a satellite program and insert local spots by relay closures, 2 times a day, and that is pretty bulletproof.  It's looking like ads that play more than 6x a day can cause issues where they are skipped sometimes if they revert to type MUSIC.

I backed out of using Windows Server machines in 2012 when we had trouble getting RadioDJ working smoothly

Last tested on Server 2016 and that was also a nightmare

Ive had smooth running on Windows 11 apart from windows updates I've not had any issues

Windows server editions were infuriating IMHO
