Moving working stream from Winamp/Shoutcast to RDJ

Hi,

I am back again and now have a stream doing fine from Winamp with Shoutcast using the Shoutcast embed link on our web page. Stream is fine and we are on the SC Radio Station page.

Now I want to move that stream from Winamp so it comes from RDJ.

I am okay with the settings in RDJ however I am a little confused about the Shout and Edcast bit.

Can I get some help here please. I have read the tuts over and over but there seems to be nothing that says how to get a connection in a simple way. Not that i can see anyway.

I do see the stream in Edcast when I start it.

Appreciate it.

In edcast Click Add encoder then right click and Configure.

Bitrate = Whatever bitrate your shoutcast server is set to handle.
Samplerate = should be set at 44100
Channels = Should be set at 2
Encoder Type = Choose your encoder be it mp3 or aac+ or .ogg
Server type = Shoutcast
Server IP & port = The Ip and port of your shoutcast server
Password = DJ password of your shoutcast server.

YP Settings Tab = Your Station details.

Metadata to get the Artist and title to stream you need to to Check the File and point that to C:\Program Files\RadioDJ\now_playing.txt or where ever RDJ is on your system.

You should now be able to click Connect if the sound is Being picked up from the stereo mix of your soundcard. make sure the stream from winamp is disconnected first.

Far out!! At last I got the stream with Edcast and RDJ to the Shoutcast and my webpage. The metadata is also there.

Gary, your instructs were perfect, I was just somehow mixed up with what was the actual stream url as it was coming from my XP computer.

In Edcast I went from localhost, to 127.0.0.1, to 192.168.1.4 to 123.243.196.101. Finally localhost was the one that worked with that also in RadioDJ Stream tab.

It is amazing how confusing something so simple can be. Once you know it, you wonder how on earth could it have been so difficult!  Anyway we are done now!!

Just now have to get your template working.

I have the same dbase name, user, pwd on both my XP box and the Linux shared server where my webpage is.

I have checked the 3306 ports and they seem to be correct as is the Firewall.

When I opened the template it takes data from the config okay as far as the Heading etc but not the stream and playlist data.

When I press Now Playing etc, the right side panel disappears.  Most played shows a No results found! error.

I did notice that the Tune In link at bottom right is our IP okay but with listen.pls. I tried it and got this message from VLC player

Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'http://192.168.1.4:8000/stream/1/'. Check the log for details.

I have trawled the forum and countless googles but sill a little hazy as to what more or differently I must do.

Appreciate the help...yet again!!

I'm guessing from what you have said that it's Shoutcast V2 your trying to stream with??

I have no Clue as to how that works (Still using v1.9.8 ) Probably a question best asked on the http://shoutcast.com forums.

The Template is only configured to work with the earlier shoutcast, Will try and get a Fix for that when i can be bothered to learn V2.

Infact the On/Off Air Widget will be left out of the next version of the RDJ template.if you would rather have a Crack at that i will sort a Beta copy out.

To get teh template to talk to your SQL server sign up for a Static address from no-ip.com then stick that in Database host in the config file and use the  DUC updating software to keep that address active (You will get a renew email every 30 days)

Hi,

I tried and persevered with V2 for a while but it didn't work, but as soon as I hit the Legacy button it fired up so you're right there is something going on there.

Yes I'll give the Beta a go when you get the time.

Thanks for the no-ip.com tip, I'll give that a shot too. At least it will tel me whether I have everything done correctly.

Have a great day/night..
